Seems like this isn't really a habitat for gators. They usually stick to bodies of water that don't recede for long periods of time. Rivers, large creeks, ponds, etc. They don't like to travel long distance to places like this, I'd imagine they'd only do it if forced.

Sound like there was not much of a body to immediately determine identity, but the personal effects were taken as a possible clue. However, the report was quite neutral in tone, not saying it was or was not likely Landrie at this juncture- 'implying strongly' it was impossible to determine before forensic investigation was done on the remains.
It could become very sensational if someone gets prosecuted for double homicide on this. Especially if it ties back to government corruption and Sandy Hook.
It'll be interesting to learn the time of death in relation to the "search".

That area of the park was underwater; The waters receded a few days ago, the park opened back up & hikers allegedly found the remains.
