- On Sunday I went onto a Delta flight.
- As I got onto the plane the flight attendant stops me and tells me that gaiter masks are not allowed.
- She asks me if I have another mask or if they need to come by later and give me one.
- I told her this is my only mask.
- I sat down in my seat and jumped onto my phone and looked up delta policy. They allow gaiter masks if they are more than 1 layer or if they are folded over. So I start filing a complaint with BBB while my wife gets on to Delta airlines Customer service.
- We tell them she is not going by Deltas own rules around masking and continue complaining.
- At this point, the flight attendant comes over with a mask, I show her the policy and she walks away for 5 minutes.
- At this point she comes back, apologized, and said the policy must have changed again.
- We look up when the policy changed, and nothing about gaiter masks has changed for at least 6 months.
- 20 minutes later, she gets on the intercom and apologizes again to everyone, stating that it's a stressful time.
- about an hour later the plane lands and I get off the plane. As I'm getting off she says "sir" I keep walking cause I didn't wanna hear what she had to say.
- she then shouts "sir wait" and gets off the plane and chases me down. She has obviously been crying, she says she is so sorry for attacking me on the plan and she will never do that again.
- I respond with "Okay, Alright." I nod my head and walk away.
- I didn't want her to cry, but just like a child crying after being punished for being bad, sometimes you just have to let them cry and walk away.

My son had a waitress tell him he had to double up his gaiter. He politely asked her, "what is two times zero"? When she replied "zero", he just doubled it up and said thank you. I am rather proud of my nine year old for dropping little red pills.
100% she didn't get it.
I would have left right then and there
Then again I refuse to eat out anywhere they demand masks
Good for your boy 👍🏻 Smart lad
Pretty weird. From what I have experienced, most female flight attendants seem to feel like are authority figures like cops. They can't stand to have anybody argue with them and will go right to having you thrown off the plane.
I suppose that they are trained that way so they can have the authority in an emergency situation.
They need to go back to being cute young waitresses who do as they're told.
Let's face it, anytime a woman is in a position of authority it's a mistake.
Who do as they're told? The airlines aren't paying for them because they want to serve you drinks. They would rather save themselves the money. Having them be flying waitresses is the cover story. Flight Attendants are supposed to put their lives before yours. They're not going to be the first to evacuate in an emergency, but the last.
A couple examples
They've been trained to give orders, and when they greet you when you get on the plane they're evaluating you.
That is not true. Women can be great leaders.
The rule of women is the curse of God.
If that authority involves the possible use of force, I certainly agree. After almost twenty years of martial arts schools and dealing with police and military (AF and Marines-can't personally speak on other branches), I haven't met one single female who could actually take down a serious and determined man of probably 170 lbs or more but many have had toxic and fight-provoking machismo(machisma?) Attitudes.
Flying is for birds and faggots. That is all.
My monitor now has Diet Coke on it.... thanks a lot.
NP fren
I do what I want.
Um. Okay. Enjoy driving 14 hours twice a month. Or is this a joke that I don't understand?
This is neither joke nore exaggeration.
Nah bish you the joke.
Maybe you say this because you can't afford to travel on a plane? Whatever the case, It doesn't make sense to spend 28 hours a month driving between states to visit family. Flying is just fine. If you don't have precheck and global entry, perhaps it's a Hassel but I get through security quickly and easily.
Blocking your airways with a warm damp rag for hours and paying money to commies who mandate experimental medical procedures on their employees just to make it "easier" to visit some assholes makes you a Faggot.
"You seem awfully butt-hurt. Try taking it up the butt less often and you might be less butt-hurt." Wow such homophobia. You must be a democrat.
"makes you a Faggot." & "Wow such homophobia" makes you a troll.
Sounds like you handled it well. No yelling - just the facts. Kudos.
You've got brass balls. These days really show who has strength and who doesn't.
But I can't wait for this to be over. We are being forced to fight each other for survival.
EXCELLENT
You should have said “Let’s Go Brandon”! Nicely done though.
Lol that would have been awesome.
I so admire people like you! Honestly, I wish you had been there to fight for me in 2008 when they wouldn’t let me leave the hospital! Later they sued for the hospital bill. I countersued. No justice for me - found out later that my lawyer and their lawyer were golfing buddies. Had to settle for ten thousand. Better than 30 thousand, I guess.
Wow. Yeah they did you wrong. That's terrible. Lawyers have licenses just like nurses, there is a board and you can file a complaint against them for their behavior. They can put a strike on that lawyers lisence!
Thanks. Will check it out. The trouble with being middle class is we don’t have enough money to keep hiring lawyers!
People can't take it anymore.
Sorry, I was wrong on the license, that was another profession I was thinking of. Look into State grievance committees or ethics committees
lawyers are not licensed; they have BAR cards
Oh! Thank you, u/TakeItBack! Shoulda happened a LONG time ago. It's about TIME lawyers got bar codes (I think most are way passed their 'use by' date).
Yes, they have greatly passed by their bar codes; excellent play on words!!
Oh true... I was thinking about a realtor.
Well you fared better than our friend who attended a wedding in upper New York state. He flew Delta out of Atlanta with his wife and 2 kids. On the way home the stewardess chastised him for the way he was wearing his mask. He told her to "Move along" and that didn't sit well with her. They started arguing he he called everyone "sheep" and all the passengers started yelling at him. Long story short he got thrown off the plane so he had to rent a car and drive home by himself overnight. What a horrible experience....I'm sure he appeared to be a nutcase.
Yeah I tried to "argue" as politely, respectfully, and quietly as I could lol.
I really can’t understand why people don’t just Mind Their Own Business. It would save us all so much grief.
I've never heard of a gaiter mask in my life
It’s like a turtle neck neck without the shirt. It protects your neck from the wind, snow, sleet. If can be used to cover your face… ie.. a mask
Ooohhh, I never knew the name of it. Thanks!
It's super breathable practically does nothing. I don't wear masks, but I have to for plane rides, so I wear these. It doesn't cause my ears to hurt on long flights.
Good on you. She'll probably never hassle another person about a mask again.
Steve Turley talked about this. We are living in a time when everyone knows eveything going on is complete horse shit, be we all have to pretend like it isn't. The Soviet Union had a name for it, but I don't recall.
She is being compelled do enforce nonsense and it's causing her anguish.
Ah pick on people at work, that’s cool. It’s one thing to stick up for yourself and clarify the policy. It’s another to brag about giving someone who is working a hard time. Congratulations you pushed her over the edge, Way to stick it to the airlines that you just gave a bunch of money to. This is why no one wants to work. People just aren’t civil with each other anymore.
In what way was I not civil? I did not make a scene, I did not yell at her, I was not rude. I stood up for myself using the regulations that are being enforced upon me and won - as unlikely as that is. Like I stated to others, I don't want to see her cry, but just like a child who cries when they get punished for doing something bad, you don't want them to cry but they need to learn.
We’re you being civil when she tried to apologize and rectify the situation? “Chased you down” as in went out of her way to do the right thing. Yet you were right and love that high horse as you brag about it here. She was wrong. She admitted it.
I hope she quits. So she doesn’t have to deal with this shit anymore and even more flights get cancelled.
You are the ignorant observer in this story.:
You are not there to teach her lessons. You are not her parent or boss. She is not a child or your child. You PAID to have her tell you what to do. She got it wrong and she fixed that. She might have worked for a different airline last month and gotten it wrong, who knows, she fixed her mistake. I’m not saying it’s your fault she cried, had a bad day, hates her job…any of that. Her response is on her. The title of your post is not “I stuck up for myself by knowing the rules” it’s “I made the flight attendant cry”. I am judging on that.
People at work are soft targets because they have to be polite and she’s probably following rules she doesn’t agree with either. Hence her frustration.
The bitch is the airline's representative and their strong arm on the aircraft.
The people who ran the ovens and gas chambers in Auschwitz were also workers trying to do their jobs... I suppose for you a simple apology would have sufficed?
Is reality too much of a stretch for you?
They had the choice the purchase that ticket and play their games. I don’t patronize business that I don’t want to follow the rules of.
The people in your example did not have a choice to be victims. The people who ran the chambers could have walked away, defied orders, fought.
The bitch had a choice to not work for an airline.
She also had a choice to not be a bitch.
People who wish to fly have no choice but to buy a ticket from an airline who hires people like the bitch.
You have a choice...
Like I said, I hope she quits.
This is the way.
she was being a " bully " because she felt that the powers that be had her back, then she found out that they didn't. she would do it again in a heartbeat if she was more sure of her standing.
Hint: the BBB is like complaining on Yelp. Completely useless. No different than Angie's List. It's a private company.
Not strictly true. BBB doesn't have enforcement or sanctions, but they are able to leverage social pressure on businesses - and, most importantly, many businesses can be swayed by this pressure. Yelp can be used for crude social pressure, but BBB has more class and more clout. Utilized correctly, they can make good things happen.
I've complained on BBB and got my previous apartment to refund me a security deposit they wrongfully stole.
Poor lady probably already feels like shit for caving and getting the jab
Bless her heart. It's got to be tough for them. You did great.
Pilot got an ass chewing direct from Delta HQ, thus, the ball of shit went downhill till it went splat all over her. Must suck to be a sheep.
This post is a fantasy
It absolutely is not.
If you would like, I can take a screenshot from my wife's phone of her with the customer service rep. I could also show my recent ticket history
Just shows these people are just doing what they are told. I know so many in retail that take the stance, I don't get paid enough to force mask wearing.
We must all do a sit-in dirty protest at our local airports.
Nice
Hopefully your complaint gets her in trouble.
It seems like she cried because she realized she was being a cunt, but didn't realize why or why it felt bad. I swear, the propaganda is so bad that the victims don't even realize they are being insufferable.
She was the one not following the rules
All he did was sit there in a seat, then walk off the plane
He was not required to stop his forward progress and turn around just because someone says sir behind him - what if he was busy or in a hurry
Also, no American citizen can ever be legally compelled to wear any object across their nose and mouth just to suit someone's idea of their medical safety
And businesses violate US Code if they refuse service to someone for refusing to cover their nose and mouth, forcing them wear something that has even a small or slight physical effect on their breathing, for any medical reason; it is practicing medicine without a license.
It's as illegal as posting a sign saying you can't get on this plane if you walk with a limp or have asthma or a cold. They aren't qualified to diagnose your medical condition.
A stewardess crying could be having gas, PMS, too much stress, just broke up with her boyfriend, etc., etc. The guy didn't abuse her IMHO
Maybe you could have shown her some decency when she apologies and owns up to her fault. Shame on you, OP.
When a child is bad, and then they get punished and go to time out, many times they start to cry. I don't want the kid to cry but at the same time, they need some tough love so that they learn. I was respectful the entire time. When she apologized I told her it was okay. There is nothing more to do.
Maybe people have to suffer the full consequences of their actions or they'll never learn.
