I did but they did very poor, 2 rows about 75ft yellow and red taders and produced about 30 reds, and 10 yellows very small. Beans wouldnt bloom and produce about to plow them under. Water bill through the roof, only about 3.5 inches rain since Jan in Central Tx, although did get 2inches last night so may let them go longer. Tomatoes loaded but are rotting before ripening in this heat so pulling green and let ripen on counter. Ton of yellow squash, cucumber squash and Guatemalan banana squash. About 300 onions put up in March. Got 1/4th of beef in freezer from BIL for leasing my 25acres pasture. 2 whitetail deer my 16yo daughter killed on our property, self processed in freezer. Hopefully the grid stays on, will be quickly making lots of jerky.
White rice will keep in a cool, dry place, for many years. Brown rice doesn't last as long in storage because of the protein. When it comes to subsistence mode, calories is the most important thing, although you do need protein for long-term healthy survival, that's where beans come in to combine with the rice for protein; has worked for thousands of years for many people in the world :)
I pulled my last tomatoes last weekend. Only thing growing now are sweet taters, watermelon and yard beans. I could grow gross okra in the summer for the pretty flower at least. Fruit trees are doing great and I have a litle nursery going with cuttings and seeds from the fruit. It took me a while to wrap my head around growing seasons in South FL. It's like not natural.
Too hot for mine where I have them place. They gave me maters from seed until the 1st of June. I'm happy with the experiment and saved a bunch of seeds. If you can string trellis them, I recommend it.
Processed food kills you slowly, anyways. Whole foods are your friend. Factory farming is garbage. Find local farms. Listen, if Kellogg’s and General Mills plants burn to the ground, I could care less. Don’t buy that garbage anyways.
Now I haven’t taken the time to look into every plant, so I could be off the mark. But I truly believe that if you just buy local, this won’t affect you. Stop buying and eating SHIT! That is why America is getting fat, lazy, and stupid.
Find sustainability through gardening and sprouting seeds. It’s cheaper as well. I have a mixture of everything. Fruit trees, huge garden where my wife will can or pickle, 3 month Patriot Supply and bulk rice, oats, dried beans, nuts, oils, peanut butter, dried milk and powdered protein, canned goods and freeze dried meat. Also have 300 gallons of rain barrels and water purifiers. Multiple heat sources for winter as well.
1 year of food, no debt, low bills. 35k heirloom seeds. Moved to the country. Even if this ends tomorrow I'm not counting on this system anymore.
When it's over if the banks all steal our cash, I've got some gold and silver for when trade starts back up of I don't want to trade produced goods I produce.
Mine is growing well and I’ll get a cucumber today but it’s not enough to feed my neighbors who are not even tending an apple tree. I’ve been showing them an example for 6 years (I’ve gardened fir 30 yrs but they now see a big garden a whole village lot from the street) and none have so much as planted a tomato.
There is a possibility of theft or damage from anger. I am willing to share. I tried giving away extra plants and veggies in past years but they like the store. My family members took all the extra plants this year I didn’t offer to neighbors.
Sitting next to 2 ft tall peppers and 6 ft tall tomatoes. They are the size of baseballs right now but still green. Not many actual plants but a variety for sure:
Strawberries cucamelons tomatoes peppers herbs cucumbers squash watermelon sweet potato kale corn cabbage...all in a 10x10 square behind the house
Lots of stuff going on there but what is critical is to compare this 2020, 2019 and other years to make sure this isn't normal.
Kind of like what they do with gun crimes. People have always been killing each other and gun crime has even dropped, but you would never know that listening to the news.
What is the increase in food production incidents THIS YEAR, when compared to previous years? 350 million people on a lot of land, it's easy to make a list say the sky is falling. All we need to do to know if this is a problem, is to compare it to the average of previous years but that is missing from the article. That's an important data point, a convincing data point and it's unfortunate that it is missing.
I'm wondering if some of those plants were burned down to destroy evidence? You know, they might be good fronts for human trafficking?
As for garden, yes. Here in the northwest we didn't start to warm up until about the middle of June, some things are getting a bit of a late start. Hope they catch up!
Game animals will become very scarce if the SHTF. Most will be killed in days or weeks, and the rest will head for the hills. A better strategy is snares, traps, rabbit boxes, etc.
Also, firing your gun gives away your location. During the first weeks of SHTF, you need to keep a very low profile.
I eat zero plants, period. Plants are trying to kill us. The ones which are not good at it kill us slower. There are more carcinogens in plants than the chemicals sprayed on them.
Cons:
temporary “keto flu”, aka carb withdrawal.
If you ate a lot of fiber your colon is used to a lot of water bound up in fiber. Possible diarrhea when switching to no-fiber until your colon is used to reabsorbing all that water. You’re no fun to most people anymore.
Pros:
Massive weight loss and constant energy. I lost over 80lbs sitting on my ass. Low inflammation. Red meat is the least inflammatory food there is. Fatty meat is very nutritionally dense. Once you’ve adapted to this WOE you do not eat like on the SAD. I intermittent feast. Usually once a day. I am so much more free never thinking about food or wasting extra time on buying and cooking food. I eat beef, lamb, eggs, fish and other meats for variety. It cuts out most of the bullshit when shopping. My kitchen is very clean and organized. I do not have many dished to clean ever. Half of my food is grilled steaks. I buy whole loins, cut and salt them, leave them on a wire drying rack in the fridge so not brown or spoil, and once a day pull two out to get up to room temp. Life is super simple. I sleep less and better. I haven't been sick for 3 years. My exercise recovery is faster.
I tried a virtual no-carb diet and I couldn't do it. After about 2 weeks I gave up because I just didn't feel like I was getting energy. It could be because I have a compromised liver, and you need a good liver to process all the fat associated with the keto-type diet.
I'm trying to eat a well-balanced diet, and go light on sugary carbs. I tried greek yogurt for a while as my go-to breakfast, but it gave me some weird, chemical-smelling crap and gas, so now I'm having oatmeal for breakfast. I eat a lot of peanut butter on bread (no jelly) for lunch, or sometimes tuna. And then what would be considered a normal meal for dinner (some kind of meat, rice or potatos, and some vegetable, but often no vegetable) I make homemade bread and almost completely avoid fast food and most pre-packaged food. What I still don't know is whether having covid ramped up the heart disease, or it just coincided with it, but after reading about covid and covid shots causing clotting, I'm thinking the ramping up may be what happened. I'm hoping it's possible that the coronary calcium scan results will show a slight decrease in a year, or maybe even a big decrease, if possible.
Just a note - There's a difference between 'destroyed' (which is in the headline of the OP and the GWP article) vs. 'damaged part of a plant.' As some of these articles have been coming out over the past months, I looked at each of them to determine if it was total disruption of the supply, for good, or else a setback which could be repaired and back online within a reasonable period of time. WE don't know how much industrial sabotage goes on (internally or by competitors) in a 'normal' year. And with the economy headed south, lots of companies are looking for wounded targets for M&A talks. (spez: I'm seeing a lot of this stuff (merger talks/sales) happening in our state's restaurant sector right now, esp because smaller restaurants unable to staff adequately).
.'
First harvest of spinach and garlic and greens and kale happening now. Don't think it is too late! I have grown peas and beans after the 1st day of summer, usually the first week of July, there is plenty of time and I live in a short growing season. Winter squashes and pie pumpkins and pickling cukes should be on their way by now, kinda late to start them in the North. Potatos and onions should be in too, and corn. Peas beans beets kale chard carrots can go in now. I am having a heck of a time with grasshoppers and I do not use pesticides, so I find that wood ash deters them. Tomatos and peppers look awesome, time to stake and prune. I wish I had more help digging up some more space, it needs to be mowed down, full of clover and grass, but it would easily give me 100 more feet of space. I'm 73 with chronic lyme and the body can do just so much.
I saw a video on FB of someone pulling an old-time plow behind a riding lawnmower. The husband was guiding the plow, and the wife was driving the mower. It was actually working pretty well. I believe I have an old plow around here somewhere. I'll have to try it. You might see me on YouTube someday. :)
Depending on how long ago it was, if you put lots of organic fertilizer on things, they should recover. Had that happen after a neighbor sprayed his yard a couple years ago.
That's helping a few plants actually, but I think my Mimosa trees are gonna be a total loss. Ten years old and primary shade givers for my poultry enclosure. Industrial farming is a menace.
Gardens are a great idea and a nice hobby but its not going to save you in worst case scenario. You will have so many looters and hungry people tearing through yards, stores and houses for any food they can get.
In that case the cabal one and its reset time. Head far away to somewhere remote and live alone. You cant run and take a garden with you.
Unfortunately, our yard has no suitable garden area. I'm trying to grow a few tomato plants in huge pots in one of the few spots that gets enough sun. I spent about $50 just on some heavy-gage screen to keep the squirrels out, with bird netting on top (and a squirrel already found a way in! at least birds appear not to care about trying to get in :) ). Squirrels are the most relentless creatures I have ever seen! We have some bird feeders and if they have a 1/1000 chance of getting to one, they WILL keep trying until they succeed!
Gardens won’t keep you alive , that’s the dumbest shit I’ve ever heard . If this goes down poorly many many many people will die and it will start an all out post apocalypse scene. Don’t be stupid enough to think a garden will help anything .
Says the guy who doesn't know how gardening works. It kept my parents and grandparents alive during the Great Depression. They grew pretty much all their food and spent the tiny bit of money they could make on the few things they couldn't grow, such as coffee and sugar.
This is on a bigger level than that , more people , it will be like mad max . Any garden” other than startches provides next to zero calories and you better have a way to pickle veggies . It’s just stupid you’d be better off finding away to make ammo . This can’t happen or there are no white hats and there is no plan. There is no scenario where we win from the total collapse of society. That’s means the cabal won.
There's canning, drying, freeze-drying, and more. You've never had a garden, have you? Everyone around me has a garden plus a lot of domesticated animals. There are proteins and fats in beans. I have pecan trees and black walnut trees. That's good nutrition, and they last for a year, or even more in the freezer.
There are oils in a lot of garden vegetables. You probably don't know about a green similar to kale called rape, do you? They make rapeseed oil from the seeds. It's sold in the grocery store, but the name didn't sound good, so they got permission from the government to call it canola oil.
You people can’t seem to grasp the massive scale we live on , people will swarm you and your house and a few guns won’t stop it . It will be post apocalyptic, you don’t think the globohomos have back up plans for themselves? The food supply chain can not break or we lose and Q has failed . None of you can seem to grasp this .
You don't grasp the massive scale of my area, how many hours away the closest cities are, and what percentage of people in my area have stacks of guns and ammo. There's much more, but that would be telling.
We won’t even get into vegetables not being healthy. You don’t have the volume to make seed oils or the processing. People need meat to thrive and your not thinking about millions of people savagely coming to your house looking for food and doing anything they can to take it Like I said your better off figuring out how to make ammo.
Vegetables are healthy. You're wrong there. It's not that hard to raise small livestock. Others in my neighborhood already are.
I have plenty of ammo, and so does most everyone else in my neighborhood. There will never be "millions of people" coming to my house, as they don't live anywhere near me. A few thousand rounds is enough to stop the number that might make it to my road. I'm not worried.
What is worrying is that you actually believe you can survive indefinitely by hunting, which is sketchy at best. You'll starve in my half of the country.
Our garden is pathetic. We are wannabes who never could garden well. Neighbors have always helped and advised. Now they are passed on and moved away and we are on our own. 'Maters got attacked by a caterpillar. (that's never happened before) Cucumbers came out like golf balls. (that's never happened before) We got zucchini and squash and hopefully the potatoes will do well. We tried enriching the soil but I think the sun is harsh, so we've tried to shade them. SO disappointing.
I really need to start. Especially considering I live rural - got more than enough area for it. Seen a post on here once that was basically a "beginners guide to starting a garden" ill have to dig around for it again
I would love to grow a garden, but I have a heavy flow of wild animals through my back yard. Does anyone else have this issue and have found ways around animals/pests?
Thanks for getting rid of the competition, deep state hacks. It doesn't take that long to replace a population of chickens. No one will be eating worms except the chickens.
A few hundred square feet can go a lot farther than most people think.
You growing taders?
I did but they did very poor, 2 rows about 75ft yellow and red taders and produced about 30 reds, and 10 yellows very small. Beans wouldnt bloom and produce about to plow them under. Lol yes. Good amount of meat there buddy!
sweet taders the most nutritious
And easiest to grow, They are a bit of an encroacher.
lol
:) Legit question, are you going to grow some potatoes? I don't know how long people can survive off just low calorie veggies
Name checks out. What do you mean by a bag? I knwo when they get old they start sprouting. Do we just buy some taders in some dirt in a bag? kek
Nice.
I guess i couldn't harvest a ton of taders very long, as winter appraoches. I'd have to dehydrate them as well if I want them to last long term.
Entire backyard a garden kek
I don't know shit.

Can you grow apples and pears at least?
Best is a Meyer Lemon or a small fruit like a tangerine for inside. It will need a south facing window.
Some fruit trees can be grown in containers. You should also research into columnar fruit trees.
My friend has bought a bunch of fruit trees from this website and has had good luck. I personally haven't pulled the trigger on any fruit trees yet.
https://www.starkbros.com/tags/columnar-fruit-trees
If you plant indeterminate types of tomatoes, they will bear continuously as long as the weather is warm enough. I've had tomatoes in December.
Too hot for mine where I have them place. They gave me maters from seed until the 1st of June. I'm happy with the experiment and saved a bunch of seeds. If you can string trellis them, I recommend it.

It was THEIR plan after all.
Fat, lazy, stupid and sickly.
Unfortunately I don’t have my garden running…but I do have a 2 month emergency food kit from My Patriot Supply :P
You will need more than 2 months
I hope you are wrong, as nobody truly knows this.
I hope I am wrong too.
Glad we’re all in this together no matter what happens. PS I wasn’t the one who downvoted you.
Find sustainability through gardening and sprouting seeds. It’s cheaper as well. I have a mixture of everything. I don’t worry about down votes, I don’t even look. Everyone has a right to their opinion.
Do gardening AND emergency supplies. Don't count on the assholes for anything.
This is the way.
Came to say the same, both are important.
Never too late to start a garden
The incredible heat and drought have all but killed my garden. Last year was a plague of grasshoppers.
Got a little rain last night thank God!
1 year of food, no debt, low bills. 35k heirloom seeds. Moved to the country. Even if this ends tomorrow I'm not counting on this system anymore.

Does anyone know what the previous years incidence of these types of fires was?
No, my garden isn't running. It's still in the same place it was yesterday.
My nose has been running all morning, though. Damn allergies!
Growing is essential but so is being able to prepare them for storage to last.
I've been canning everyday. My husband and kids are like, you know the apocalypse isn't coming. Mmmm hmmm ok, you'll thank me when you have food.
Well, to be honest, it probably isn't. But not preparing for the possibility would be foolish.
That's why I only can things we would eat on a regular basis. If we don't need it then at least I won't have to do any cooking for awhile
Nsw Australia is now destroying bees, I find it suspicious as fark

Clearly this is the effects of global warming, but only in the USA of course.

I literally only eat meat. And not chicken or pork. I’ll figure it out. I have so much fucking ammo I’ll not be going hungry that’s for sure.
I’m headed to the hills baby!
Some of the hill residents may be into long pork.
Those my people bro. Where I’m going, I am welcome.
Eskimos eat only meat. I've never seen one with a vegetable garden out back of the igloo. :)

Related plants can cross. Plant the cucumbers further away from squash and melons.
Yes, unfortunately that happened to us one year. :(
Yes, it's going great. We are about to get our first beets and broccoli. Yummmm.
I really need to start. Especially considering I live rural - got more than enough area for it. Seen a post on here once that was basically a "beginners guide to starting a garden" ill have to dig around for it again
I'm still trying to figure out how drip arrogation works.
These people are stupid.
Note that none have been destroyed in Russia.
