Making up blatant lies. I hope everyone realizes that this is pure panic. They are backed into a corner and have no way out.
The way the "lie cycle" works is that first it is promulgated at a hearing or in a trusted "news" venue, then it's repeated over and over by all of the trained parrots, and even after it is debunked it has a life of its own now. We will be hearing this lie well into the next decade, just watch.

If someone had shown up armed at President Trump’s rally at the Ellipse they would have been arrested and it would have been all over the news that day.
