I'm not a holocaust denier but there are some incredibly strange things and definitely lies about some of it. The thing I have issues struggling with lately is anytime we say 7 or 10 or 20 or 50 million people died in some historical event no one remembers. It is almost unfathomable how many people that is and I'm really starting to wonder if a lot of that is "rough estimates" that could be wildly off
The often quoted 6 million Jews is because 6 million is a magic number for Jews. I believe it is based on some gematria and one of their religious books.
I 100% do NOT believe 6 million Jews were killed. Mathematically and logistically impossible.
When you take into account that Stalin's Bolsheviks were run mainly by Jews and they wrote the history it starts to fall into place. The Russians also built the famous chimney at Auschwitz after the war had ended.

Not sure what they base it on, but there was a newspaper clipping form around 1919 (not sure, but about that time). There was a claim of six million Jews being killed, but the story never got off the ground due to the impossibility of the numbers claimed.

Sorry, I have never run across that claim. One of my 8th grade teachers told us about the death camp he had entered at the end of the war. I had never heard of this and so started reading. Never read about that or talked to survivors who made that claim. Citations needed, please. Thank you.

A crematorium is basically just a furnace. Why would a 1940s crematorium be THAT different than a modern one. Calories are calories. It takes a certain amount of energy to break down a body like that and it's not going to be any less or more now than it was then. Efficiency of heat creation by just straight up burning fuel is pretty damn efficient and we haven't figured out a way to magically make today's fuel burn any hotter, and I'm pretty sure concrete or other insulation also wouldn't have changed SO MUCH that it would make a difference of HOURS of efficiency.
If anything they could have been MORE efficient. After all if they were starving them, boom right there half the body mass to burn. Then you stuff a whole bunch into ONE furnace. BOOM now you're utilizing more of the heat and losing less to being radiated out the walls due to a high filled volume.
Go ask a modern cremator. They'll turn a person to ash bones and all in two hours. Stuff a 50 people in there at once, use some more fuel now you're at 50/hr PER furnace. Run that thing full time that's 300,000/yr. I'm assuming they didn't run it full time however. But they probably did have multiple going over multiple years. I'm not saying you're wrong about some of the high victim numbers being worth some skeptism. But it ain't because they couldn't cremate them all. At least theoretically it's possible and even if negligible difficulty.

My main issue is, why even burn them to begin with, and especially during a world war when you're fighting 2 of the most powerful countries/alliance in the world at the same time, and you need every resources possible. Burning bodies is just completely useless, you can just bury those corpses (at least to avoid sickness) and nature will eventually take back most things. They wanted no evidence of what they did? Maybe, but why?

Crematoriums have updated procedures and mechanics to make the burning more efficient and concrete has changed many times through history, getting weaker and stronger depending on what you're making it for. Everything else or the conclusion drawn idk but those 2 things have and do change Different fuel, pressures, air flow etc. Different materials, ratios or mixtures as well.

Modern day, INDUSTRIAL crematoria, take 3-4 hours to burn up 1 body. The skeleton remains at 3-4 hours...

In the 1940s, there were not robust natural gas production, transport and storage.
Temperature is important.
They could not use coal, or wood... where the hell do you get that much coal or wood during a war? Who gets it for you, during a war?
So, fuel oil... that you use... for burning jews, or running a war?

The crematoria had to run 24/7, because there is no point stopping... and it takes time to warm up.
You can't stuff 50 bodies in there because... YES, calories are calories... and you're not going to burn 50 bodies at once with 1940's fuel and technology.

The people you met are likely from the concentration camps that the US liberated. Those were not part of the Holocaust.

Yes the conditions we found in those camps were awful, but you have to keep it mind that we were shelling the supply lines long before we liberated the camps. Speaking of doing the math... I was curious about the volume of ashes created after one human body is cremated. It was an easy internet search, and the easiest data point I found was one average human packs into a box 8 inches by 5 inches by 5 inches. I then multiplied that by 6 million people. Data is below. Note - I understand that the sizes/weights of prisoners of war were probably much less than what the website used as average (175lbs) but even if you halve these numbers it doesn't change the fact that the ash piles would be impossible to hide.
Average size of 1 Person: cremated ashes (in a box) = 8x5x5 inches
Average size of 6M People: cremated ashes (in a box) = 48Mx30Mx30M inches
Inches in 1 mile = 63,360

Is this where the ashes are laid out flat over the ground? What if they were buried deep below ground, or thrown down a cave, or scattered over several bodies of water, or mixed into food or building materials or paints?
Well the premise of what I did was a 5x5x8 box. In practice the ashes would probably get compacted, and water would cause runoff - but even if you took 1% of that exercise it still comes out to roughly 7.5 miles long by 4.7 miles wide by 4.7 miles high. scattering them would work for the first maybe 100,000 but the shipping alone would be impossible during the war. I don't even want to think about mixing the ashes into other stuff though. I also don't know how much the ashes would compact. Either the dirt gets put back on top, possibly making a very large and very high hill (mountain?), or the dirt raises the elevation all across Germany.
That is interesting, just wanted to see if you thought of other things that could have been done to the remains. Maybe instead of one high mountain, several hills could had been made. Or perhaps most of the remains were dumped down rivers or into a few deep lakes and caves, so no need for as many hills to be made.
The only thing I can think of is like you said - rivers or lakes. It would shock me if they used their own water supply though, but I suppose they could've been that stupid. Maybe they could've shipped it in trains and dumped it in the Baltic or North Sea. This is all assuming the 6M number is real of course.

I think most rational thinking people realize there are usually 3 sides to every story: one side, the opposing side, and the truth. Instead of sympathizing or trying to vilify, it'd be better to seek to understand why x person made x decision back then. So viewing history in that lens can't be harmful as long as the hard evidence is always included. Critical thinking (as opposed to race theory) is an overlooked factor in education.

Now my grandfather fought in WW2 and he would talk about a few things from time to time, the one thing that stood out to me was when I was 15ish, close to driving age but didn't actually have a license, my grandfather and a few of his buddies had a get together. I only remember them gathering maybe half a dozen times in my life so they may have had more before I was born. I remember them talking about a few things and people they knew that didn't make it home. Now about that time I was studying WW2 in school and learning about what was in the text books. Funny thing all of them agreed on the fact that the text books were wrong and of course there was the one man who stood up and declared that they were fighting the wrong enemy and they all knew it. They all were in agreement but didn't go into detail but it struck me and 2 of my cousins to the core. All 3 of us now believe that the holocaust was a bunch of lies and that the holodomor was actually more devastating to the world. The Holodomor is getting ready to happen again on a world wide level and no one is paying attention. Hope everyone is ready for what is to come because what happened then, that was just a trial run. The German people have been robbed blind for so long they have forgotten their own history but if you actually start researching and looking beyond what schools teach your eyes will be opened wide. That whole thing of 99% could not handle the real truths of the world, that is not just about the kids.

There's one other thing that I just can't reconcile. Look at the issues our military vets from Iraq or Afghanistan are suffering from, specifically the burn pits. A lot of vets are sick or getting rare diseases that many people believe came from the constant burning of garbage outside of the camps/bases. Then look at the number of WWII vets that are still around today, 80ish years later. If the crematoriums were going 24/7x365 the amount of ash in the air should have done the same thing to everyone in theater.
