I agree with you. There are certain instances where you want an incandescent bulb. Such as where you want some heat as well as light. The fact that the ass hole government overlords have decreed that we are idiots and they ban them makes me hate liberals and "greenies" more than usual.
The fact that the ass hole government overlords have decreed that we are idiots and they ban them makes me hate liberals and "greenies" more than usual.
The conventional light bulb was destroyed by a bill passed through congress during the obammy years. It was thought up and presented by republican fred upton. It brought about the curly "Q" bulbs first then the led's. Three major bulb factories closed since, putting thousands out of work...Thank a rino!
I have issues with LED lights as well. I suffer from photophobia which is an extreme sensitivity to light. The phase out of incandescent light bulbs started many years ago. I have a closet full of light bulbs, I stocked up and have enough to last years. I know that LED lights save energy but my health means more to me than my electric bill, after all I have cut back on other things to compensate for the electricity. Prayers you can find what you need, I understand your situation completely.
I bought a pallet of clearance incandescent bulbs the first time the Clinton administration tried to bully the industry into "energy efficiency".
All of the bulbs in stock where I worked had to go, because they lacked the Energy Star markings and eco/green labeling. I think I spent about $150 on the whole pallet.
Some people find the light emission from an LED uncomfortable. Can feel a bit unnatural and give people a headache. A good diffuser should alleviate this problem though.
They are stupidly expensive compared to what it costs to make them, and they fail far more often than their bullshit advertising claims. They are ok for a lot of applications, but nobody should be forced to use the damn things if they don't want to.
Forced govt. regulation has killed their [LED bulbs] competition, and that lack of competition has rapidly enabled corporate greed. Now, they build shitty, overpriced products, and the law prevents competition that would advantage consumers.
Did you know your washing machine was ruined as well. NOT ALLOWED to get hot enough to kill many germs like legionnaires disease or corona viruses. It is no wonder people are often sick and so many pop positive for coronavirus (they say it is cv19 [it is NOT], the PCR checks for ANY coronavirus, takes a DNA test to determine c19).
I struggled to get a washer that could handle a temp above 110F [rated for 120f] It takes 140f to kill legionnaires. Eventually, I had to get an older model and also bypass the hot water plumbing of the machine and dismantle the thermister in the bottom of the bin. The damn thing would wait for the load to cool before starting, even after directly adding my hot water. The system wont even let the hot water in if you put HOT into both HOT and COLD inlets. Thus why I had to bypass that part of the machine.
I didn’t know this. I have a new washer and I like it. Much better than the front loader I had. I don’t use standard washing detergent like Tide, Gain, etc. Prefer the non toxic detergent that has basic cleaning ingredients. Baking soda and vinegar are great for laundry also.
Lemon, eucalyptus or tea tree essential oil in the laundry will kill germs. Don’t use in dryer. It’s flammable! I see so many people saying they put essential oils in the dryer.
We made adjustments to our water heater and it is plenty nice and hot. I like to be like a lobster in a hot pot when taking a shower. ;) But yes, Govt sucks with their damn pathetic "for your own good/safety regulations" and we just let them go ahead and do the shit without putting up a fight. We LET them do this to us.
No shit. I use incandescent light bulbs for low level heat in the feral/ alley cat houses during the winter. I ran out last year. The shit they have now that replaced them is crap. I'm going to have to make my own or find better non-flammable heating elements, which they also took off the market two years ago. Seriously, this is a bigger problem than people realize.

I have had no issues finding any until now. I swore Trump supposedly reversed the Obama BS on the light bulbs, but apparently not?
I would say more but no one is allowed to question anything here or to comment on THEIR reality, what they are seeing around them, without a mod saying they are dooming and them banning them.
My local Home Depot and Lowes no longer carry them; all just LED lights.
I will have to look up some bulb specialists online; hopefully some end up being somewhat local to my area, at least state, as I try to avoid online shopping as much as I can.
I had this problem recently. The heat lamp bulb went out in my bathroom and I needed a replacement. It took myself and another (helpful, I should add) Lowe's employee to search for the correct bulb. It was LED as far as I could see. I explained to him that LED heat lamps are not viable because heat is bad for electronics and LEDs are electronically-controlled with a circuit board. You need giant heat sink fins surrounding a high watt LED bulb to dissipate heat.
We found the proper bulb after about a minute of scanning the shelves and I was able to walk out with the product I needed. It's still a troubling issue.
See is you have these stores near you. These type of stores will be more likely to carry items large retailers are discounting. Ollie’s might be the best bet. You can find anything! I occasionally shop at Rose’s, house items and water. I don’t remember if Big Lots had light bulbs. I normally go straight to the water, paper goods and food. They have online shopping. There’s a 25% off coupon that just came out this week. Good luck.
We do not have any of those stores here in South Dakota. I really miss Ollie's, would shop there when I lived in KY; can always find interesting things at that store
I’m in North Carolina & it seems like we have an abundance of that type of store. Especially Dollar General, they are in little towns and even in the middle of nowhere.
Like someone said eBay might be an option. Soon they will be vintage bulbs. I just searched eBay, over 30,000 incandescent bulbs.
Doesnt the yellow-orange lighting bother you? I wish they were clear lights.
The LED ones have weird flickering and then a low humming sound that drive me absolutely bonkers.
Putting an incandescent in line ahead of the power supply with act as a current brake so if you soldered something wrong or whatever, the current won't surge and burn something up.
I have a secret stash of halogen bulbs. My house is all LED recessed fixtures (that way when I bought it) but thankfully they have the screw-in adapters that you can put a halogen bulb in. The LEDs don't mess with us but it's good to have an alernate back up.
The non-LED lightbulbs progressively became worse, until they lasted for a few days only. We had to switch all of our lighting. There are different colors available, which may help. You can even get ones that change color, depending upon your mood. Don't know if that will help. Otherwise you might have to investigate candles and firelight. I used to prefer that myself.
Is the wiring in your house bad? I have never had my non-LED bulbs last a short time. They have actually lasted a VERY long time and only reason I needed to replace some is that we remodeled our bathroom and needed to add additional bulbs and wanted to have same clear ones used in another part of the bathroom.
No, it was newly installed, modern wiring. The non-LEDs have been great until about 2015, even with old wiring, but started popping, and we had to buy a slab of bulbs every month, so we replaced the wiring, but that did not improve things, so we switched to LEDs.
Gas lighting.
I am using a camping gas light for reading at night not only it produces a very bright white light it also produces heat.
Is like a sun and also helpes for winterdepression.( pesonal experience).
They are sold at camping places but you can also find some that can operate from natural gas.
Hope such a lamp can give you some relief.
You can still buy those “fancy” filament ones at Home Depot, and sucks they give you head aches, I love led bulbs, either the orange warm or the cool blue. And when I mean fancy, they’re the ones that are like the old timer Edison era bulbs
I have like a hundred or more 100w incandescent bulbs that I stocked up on when I heard they were banning them. I use LED everywhere now that they have improved so much. I put the old bulbs in storage on a shelf in the basement. I might want them for something in the future.
Lol, I am glad I am not the only one. My whole family laughed at me when i bought flat after flat of 100w incandescents, I still have a decent supply stashed away
It has seemed to me that all the incandescent bulbs produced shortly before the ban were purposely defective. This was in anticipation of people stocking up before they were gone. They have never lasted very long at all compared to previous years.
In times past it had been an extremely common practice to use lightbulbs specifically for the heat they gave off. For instance in well houses and under sinks to keep pipes from freezing. Incandescent lightbulbs had many uses besides light. I believe this was a major factor in them banning them.
Here you go... https://www.lightbulbs.com/category/general-purpose-incandescent-light-bulbs
Thank you!
You're Welcome Fren
I'm not alone in this! YAAAAAAY!
The house I'm renting had all led bulbs in it. They fucking SUCK! I can't find regular bulbs anywhere. Lowes, home depot Walmart are all led.
Light bulb on the stove blew. Nobody had a regular bulb for it. I forget where I finally found one.
They still make incandescents for appliances, there's multiple shelves of them at my local stores.
Everyone here is all led.
LED bulbs would melt in a stove.
Not the one in the hood.
I agree with you. There are certain instances where you want an incandescent bulb. Such as where you want some heat as well as light. The fact that the ass hole government overlords have decreed that we are idiots and they ban them makes me hate liberals and "greenies" more than usual.
AMEN!
Heat lamps for reptiles is an example.
I remember t toy oven that you could bake cookies in. Had a cheap light bulb in it. Taught kids to appreciate that they shouldn't touch "hot" things.
Sounds like something you can't get these days. Too unsafe for kids, but the vax is safe and effective.
The conventional light bulb was destroyed by a bill passed through congress during the obammy years. It was thought up and presented by republican fred upton. It brought about the curly "Q" bulbs first then the led's. Three major bulb factories closed since, putting thousands out of work...Thank a rino!
My local dollar store keeps them in stock
Well, aren't we all a tad bit crazy? ;)
I have issues with LED lights as well. I suffer from photophobia which is an extreme sensitivity to light. The phase out of incandescent light bulbs started many years ago. I know that LED lights save energy but my health means more to me than my electric bill, after all I have cut back on other things to compensate for the electricity. Thank you. I am definitely going to check out some of the places listed in this thread and start stocking up myself. Should have already done so :/
Check the dollar store the ones near me still have them.
I bought cases of incandescent bulbs when the Bush ban took effect during Obama administration
Down to a case or two and I like the LED bulbs better and cheaper to run
I bought a pallet of clearance incandescent bulbs the first time the Clinton administration tried to bully the industry into "energy efficiency". All of the bulbs in stock where I worked had to go, because they lacked the Energy Star markings and eco/green labeling. I think I spent about $150 on the whole pallet.
I only have a handful left after 20+ years.
I honestly don't see the problem with LEDs. They make the electric bill cheaper!
It's the
part
Some people find the light emission from an LED uncomfortable. Can feel a bit unnatural and give people a headache. A good diffuser should alleviate this problem though.
LED felt unnatural when they first came out, but the variety of light emission now seems to far exceed the options of incandescent.
They seem superior n every way possible to me.
No, they really dont, but if you enjoy them, have them all. I dont want them in my house.
The electric bill is about $60 cheaper than if we used full incandescent bulbs. We are nearly 100% LED.
Just a thought. Look on ebay
Those LED bulbs make my vision hurt and give me a headache too.
All part of their plan. (a vid from 15 years ago)

That's quite a story. Impressive determination.

Thank you. I will.
Do you place hay bales in the cat houses? Line them in old thin baby blankets to help keep heat in as well, at least until you can find bulbs.
They will be fine nevertheless, but I've had to become more creative.

Came here to say that.
Ah, thank you!
Didn’t Obama outlaw them? I stocked up e as y back then but am running out 😊
Remember how Trump made a point of saying he was bringing incandescent bulbs back, and he did. Guess they tried taking them away again.

You can order them from Lowes online and pick them up at the store I believe. I know Walmart can do this.
True; will have to do that. Just wish they would stock them in stores. I hate giving these woke companies more of my money. :/

Maybe you should post it here as I'm sure there are others with those bathroom heat lamps that would appreciate knowing as the cold weather arrives.

LED lights give me a headache. I’ve been stocking up on the good ole Edison light bulbs.
Doesnt the yellow-orange lighting bother you? I wish they were clear lights. The LED ones have weird flickering and then a low humming sound that drive me absolutely bonkers.
Pssst. Over here....<opens up coat>....need a lightbulb?

I use filament bulbs to moderate current spikes when testing electronics as a makeshift "resistor"
This!! Essentially a fuse also as it will blow on too much current draw
Hmm, interesting. Can you explain this a bit more; I am clueless but would love to learn.
Putting an incandescent in line ahead of the power supply with act as a current brake so if you soldered something wrong or whatever, the current won't surge and burn something up.
I get mine from the $1.25 store.
Are they the clear ones or the white coated variety?
The white ones.
My church rummage sale
People sell light bulbs at rummages?
Yup
I have a secret stash of halogen bulbs. My house is all LED recessed fixtures (that way when I bought it) but thankfully they have the screw-in adapters that you can put a halogen bulb in. The LEDs don't mess with us but it's good to have an alernate back up.
Dollar Tree, Dollar General
Thank you. I will check my local stores.
There is a store chain called "Batteries+Bulbs" might be a good place to try if you have one in your area.
I do have one of those locally so will have to pay them a visit. Thank you.

Amazon has them
I ditched Amazon years ago

Alladin lamps as well that use kerosene I love mine. But I also stocked up on bulbs because I love my easy bake oven treats the kids make for me!
But they still sell them up here in Canada so look online maybe you can mail order some?
Thank you for that recommendation. Those are something I should probably have for emergency supplies anyway.
You mean like a coleman lantern? I like the idea but they give off CO from the burn don't they?
Not co it is a complete combustion. It will give of co2 .Got a c02 meter in the room never noticed elevated levels when reading.
You can still buy those “fancy” filament ones at Home Depot, and sucks they give you head aches, I love led bulbs, either the orange warm or the cool blue. And when I mean fancy, they’re the ones that are like the old timer Edison era bulbs

I will buy your incandescents ;)
In a few more years they will be like gold :)
Finally found some locally and at almost $5 each for 60W, that "in a few years" may be a lot sooner lol
A lot of the incandescent bulbs are stacked up in my garage, just in case.
And.. where is this garage of yours? ;) Asking for a friend..
j.k lol
Lol, I am glad I am not the only one. My whole family laughed at me when i bought flat after flat of 100w incandescents, I still have a decent supply stashed away
What's your address? ;)
At the back of the house. :)
lol
