The thing is, Donkey Kong was kind of silly but that has more to do with the animation side of it than the voice.
Seth Rogan can't act, and every character he just plays is more Seth Rogan than that character.

That makes sense though. Luigi wasn't a standout character in the beginning, and only started to come into his own over time.
He will probably be more involved in the sequel after the way the first film ended.

I've seen it, the day after it came out. The woke critics are going after the movie hard while the audience gave it two thumbs up, so it has to be good.
I was not disappointed. In fact, I was super happy throughout the entire movie and left with a huge grin on my face. Best movie I have watched in many years!

We did and it was refreshing. I went in thinking “oh great what sjw shit have they put in a Mario movie” waited and waited for it, nothing!!! Kids absolutely loved it and we did too, especially Bowsers love song… Hope they make more.
Saw with my brother and 3 year old niece for her first movie. Long time Nintendo family. With was great, nice knowing ahead of time that they didnt fuck it up.. Like everything else in existence.

We took the grandkids to see it. We enjoyed it.
It was mostly woke free except for one thing that has been happening so long none of us even notice it any longer. The female lead is a strong, smart, confident character while the male lead is sort of a bumbler. And Marios brother? Total incompetent. Even the bad guy is a love sick moron.
(Spoilers further down for people who care)
Peach is a bit girl bossy, but she grew up in that world and our environments shape us.
Luigi has always been incompetent and scared, and its his bravery that he ends up pulling out in his games (e.g. Luigi's Mansion) that make him a lovable and relatable character for people.
For Bowser, he's been a simp for a long time. From the beginning, he's been capturing Peach for marriage.
His suit was taken directly from Mario Odyssey, where he is simping for Peach. Even has a scene where Mario and Bowser are both competing for her and she just walks away from both of them, haha.
In the end, Peach allowed her confidence (arrogance, really) to ferry her directly into Bowser's hands which leads to the more humble Mario coming into his heroism.
Not to mention that Princess Peach has her own game: Super Princess Peach! for the Nintendo DS.
True Mario could have been made more of a strong figure, but remember he's just a plumber and shes a princess in another world. Always has been that way!
But even as just a plumber he was mocked and ridiculed.

Also, until May 4th, Return of the Jedi is back in theaters for the 40th anniversary. Its release got no press but it was still the #5 movie this past weekend, lol.
I’d say the same thing about Puss in Boots 2. Dreamworks had a story to tell, and they told it. Illumination and Nintendo had some games and good times to remind us of, and they did that. No woke messages or pandering, just fun entertainment. Disney, take note.

Just wanted to provide a different perspective on this movie for everyone.
A lot of those things seem like leftist complaints.
They're directly complaining about "making fun of Mario's size", which clearly hits home and offends them personally because it's a mechanism to introduce the mushrooms.
Just like how Mario is introduced as hating mushrooms in the beginning so that later they have the comedic bit of him being force fed mushrooms through his constant failures to complete the course.
There are some valid criticisms, but most of them come from the woke for not being woke enough, and some are coming from conservatives so hell-bent on having a knee jerk reaction to anything that the left has pushed too hard on (strong female leads) that it's embarrassing for both sides.
It was a fun, tame movie with tons of references to the games and the Super Mario Bros. Super Show, and great renditions of the music.
The worst parts were the "fuck her gently" Peaches song and Seth Rogan appropriating a character to once again force himself in where he doesn't belong.

Damsel in distress would have been pretty boring to be honest. Not to mention for the little girls watching who are used to playing peach in games like mario party or odyssey. The way it was executed was perfect.
I have not been to a movie in forever because of this woke bullshit. I cannot stand hollyweird. But my 9yo son had his heart set on this movie. So I broke down a took him. I must say I actually enjoyed it. We laughed togather and it was great. They did not get gay. They did not get woke. They did not get weird which actually shocked the hell out of me. There is still hope. God was good to me by protecting my sons eyes. It was just a fun kid movie about two brothers who had a dream about being successful and they saved New York! It was about hard work, determination, and unity. I highly recommend it as there are none other that I would trust to show a kid.
