Yup. Got fired from a paid training gig at the fire dept for allegedly ‘mansplainin’ and ‘talking down to’ members when training. Never told who I splained to or what was said. The Chief didn’t even know what mansplaining was but went along with the firing anyways.
in 30 years of doing the same thing. just a couple stands outs before and after this shift. before the shift i was in a customer's home helping get his fax line working where he wanted it to work. during this process i had to go in all the rooms and splice pairs together because the wiring was daisy chained. i was focused on my job. my sense was this man was very clean and i thought that was strange. when i was leaving his home, he cornered me and was right in my face trying to kiss me.
these are the times in our lives we find out things, but i grew up with chaos so i realized i was in his home and so i told him i had an emergency all service down trouble ticket to get too. he still would not let me move. i could of beat him up... however i would be in jail or prison i thought. next i said i am not gay and plus i am getting married. this guy was relentless, but he eventually allowed me to leave. this man had the upper hand on me and there was only 1 way out without him being injured. my history of abuse tells me there is no point calling the police and definitely i had enough wisdom to realize he had the upper hand. he was very wealthy too.
i called the owner of this company i worked for and said what happened and also said i am never going to back there.
after the shift -- meaning these same as this man was now believe they are the authority because those like me never made them accountable for their actions in the past --
i had to speak for a thing at work and the man leading the group was the same spirit as this man was. I did not back down and said my peace, a few women cried and i thought i was going to be fired. I was not, but there are other times the last few short years that i have had to stand my ground against these rapists. They do not always want us to physically surrender and be raped like this man was years ago, they at times want us to be raped spiritually and emotionally.
I hope people grow a backbone like you have done. when i went thru basic training in the USA military i was surprised on how easy it was when i was young and yet many would view those Drill Sergeants I had as mansplaining too.
