A few years ago I used Etsy heavily as a seller. I made CNC metal signs as a side gig.
I had a couple of decent years of sales. Nothing crazy but something that equated to a few hundred dollars in profit per month. I maintained a five-star rating with overall sales in the thousands.
Then they started to get more aggressive with promoting their preferred shops (I.E. black shops, gay shops, anything expressly NOT WHITE shops) while simultaneously adding more stringent metrics to establish a "star seller" distinction. The money I spent in advertising per click stopped yielding results. I increased the daily budget a few times, but it became pretty clear that people just weren't seeing my listings anymore, and I wasn't interested in chasing an increasingly narrow profit margin (steel prices went up, Bidenomics).
I closed up the online shop and haven't used it since 2021. It just wasn't worth the hassle. So, I'm not surprised to see them run into issues. They moved away from supporting sellers in general to curating a woke image by promoting sellers based on race and rainbows and shit like that.
Go woke go broke.
P.S. If any of you ever need a custom metal sign or CAD services send me a private message, unless you're a woke loser, then you can just use Etsy.
They allow the selling of pirated products on that site. Two Dreamcast games that I wrote, that I gave away as free downloads, as well as some games I ported over to the console from other platforms, are being sold on CD with a shiny package. When I alerted Etsy about the infringement, they totally ignored me. Now, if I were selling my work for profit, I'd have probably sicced my lawyer on them. Nothing I can do about it, but the site will never see a dime of my cash.
Nice to see a retro gaming fan here :-). Which Dreamcast games if I may ask?
Fishing
This guy surely means "dont dox yourself".
Reminder that we are anonymous patriots fighting a global cabal of satanic pedos that will stop at nothing to continue being satanic pedos.
We are NOT a big happy family that can freely discuss personally identifying information....sorry mods but that just will never be the reality here.
Lots of posts on twitter with examples of pizz a related material on Etsy also.
Not to mention they allow the sale of unlicensed products from protected brands. Sure, it's really cool to see all the Nintendo / Nintendo character merch people are selling or any of the other gazillions of brands that are being violated on that site... I applaud creativity. Most of those brands appear to be allowing it... or haven't sued Etsy yet. I'm not sure. Or maybe somehow it is legal, but I don't see how it could be.
First of all, the Dreamcast was freaking awesome.
Secondly, how can I support you and your work?
I still have a working Dreamcast!
Dreamcast is incredible. I'll never forget the first time I played Soul Calibur. That game still holds up fairly well to this day, IMO.
Glad for the info. I had thought of Etsy as a good place for artisans to sell, and am very disappointed to find out the truth. Do you know of any nonwoke alternatives?
It definitely used to be a place for artisans to sell, but when I left the platform I felt like they were trying to turn it more into an online Target with all the woke trash that comes with it.
If there is an alternative, I'm not aware of it. I do more local side work and CAD stuff these days and I haven't felt the need to research other online options.
I'll be the first to admit though that my experience with Etsy ended in 2021, but I highly doubt that it has improved in any way since then.
Ditto the disappointment. I found some unique gifts there. Would like to support the artists. If they turn it into yet another big tech nanny, well....🙁
Didn’t Elon say that eventually X was going to have a market place? Or did I dream that?
It's supposed to be the EVERYTHING site, so he plans to have EVERYTHING. (First, probably marketplace, dating, etc... whatever facebook has and more.)
The ol' lady & I were thinking of lighting up (w red, white & blue Christmas lights) a giant "Q" in our yard, so a fabricated one made by a badass anon fren would be extra badass
Etsy was also tyranical during covid, would not let you sell certain items they didnt like
I had a Wuhan Institute of Virology Bio Weapons Division shirt I designed that was selling like hotcakes and they removed it calling it racist.
I still sell on Etsy because it's just shirt designs that continue to sell with zero maintenance but the platform has become flooded with cheap Chinese knockoffs of stolen designs and product ideas. I wish there was an alternative marketplace but there really isn't.
Sounds like an opportunity to create a competitor
If only some based billionaire would fund a new platform lol. Etsy is such a big established player at this point it would take a lot of startup capital to launch a competing site and draw enough eyes and interest to it.
The reason Etsy is so popular and sellers accept the abuse they receive is for the access to their massive customer base. Any competitor, even with a better model and selling platform will struggle to compete with the size of audience Etsy draws in. It's the same kind of advantage Youtube has over its competition. Sites like Rumble can work OK for creators who already built a large following on YT and then migrated over, but starting from scratch it's near impossible to build an audience on Rumble vs Youtube.

Gee, I wonder why?
If this really has something to do with those pizza posts... big if true. Something like that surely would leak sooner or later unless everyone involved has a court gag order
I doubt it, the ordering system is already in place. Users create their own posts
Etsy is no longer a website for unique handmade products as it used to be years ago. It got inundated with drop shipping crap produced by slave labor from China and it’s really hard to compete with those cheaper mass produced products. Etsy is just a fancy eBay now. It doesn’t surprise me they have Wayfair type of businesses either. I guess these suspicious “products” are everywhere on e-commerce websites.
Etsy banned all Q-related merch in 2020. lol. Apparently Q t-shirts were a threat, despite the insistence that Q isn't real.
I run online deliveries for a major chain. I've only been doing so for a few months but i have noticed that there are not a lot of Christmas presents being ordered. People could be ordering from other sources, but with how big this company is I would have thought this time of year there would be more gifts being delivered.
Everyone is maxed out on credit trying to keep up with the basics. Black Friday was dead last year and this year.
Child trafficking sales must be way down this year.
Hahahahaha not enough kids to fuel the pedos!
Holy shit never thought I'd see that
So the recovery is not as strong as Janet Yellen just said?
Give her a break. She got some more bad mushrooms, the poor thing.
You mean “good” Mushrooms
Pizza isn't selling this year.
I'm guessing pizza just isn't bringing in the revenue it used to.
I'm currently in litigation with these scumbags
wonder if 11% of its workforce has been posting pizza related content
Yeah, man just other day someone was asking about a good online selling, I use ETSY it gets a lot of traffic but they have wandered far from where they started... now there a few posts on X showing WayFair style child trafficking ads.
I thought it could've been a trafficker just taking advantage of a decent site, but it might just be their primary purpose now...
Not using it anymore, hopefully the handcrafted type sellers move to a patriot site...
Anyone have any experience on PublicSq?
They kicked off Russian sellers during the "we love Ukraine/hate Russia" fad. Idiots.
Odd timing as I just used Etsy for the first time last week to buy this Christmas gift…
