I just want to play contrarian a bit here and suggest that we pay close attention to the situation, which is still very actively developing lest we form premature opinions only to end up with egg on our face.

What DOES come across is the palpable anxiety and nerves both he and his guest are going through during large portions of this episode. It didn't strike me as a put on, but again I haven't watched yet.
