There needs to be security and checks before boarding a plane but TSA is a joke. There is no consistency. The stories I could tell. I've messed with then on several occasions

I was actually laughing when I made my comment thinking about some of the things I've done to them and it was really all just in the name of fun (for me) but dang.. now it's not so funny.
We take her travel since she was 6 and almost every single damn time. She and her sister both groped sometimes. They go for them young.

Good. I get harassed every time I travel. They always "find" something suspicious right on my crotch area whenever I go through the scanners which enables them to feel me up in front of everyone. They won't even proceed without rattling off their NPC script beforehand (even if I say I understood just proceed I'm in a bit of a hurry).
Just to show the absurdity of the whole process, I introduced myself and shook the hand of the shocked TSA agent and explained that after such an intimate experience we shouldn’t least know each other’s names. Of course people were watching. All that for a coin I left in my pocket. By the way, I’m one of those “little old ladies they love to search” for no reason.

I was groped just a few weeks ago. I'm a 58 year old full busted grandma. The lady, which my husband called a butch (not to her face), had to search the mid section and undersection of my bra because the area 'lit up' there ion the screening. I wanted to ask if she was having fun. Does every woman with an underwire bra get searched? For the love of God....

Security before 9/11 was funded by the airlines. After was when it got bad, intrusive, and invasive. TSA stopped me, after saying good bye to my 80 year old parents, for a random check, then supposedly found "B#MB RESIDUE" on some matcha tea powder I had in my bag. They made a huge deal of searching me invasively.. I looked around and there was a circle of travelers watching and taking video. I was crying, my kid was crying... then they just, let me go. As I left, the TSA agent asked if I wanted the matcha tea powder!!!!!!!! So it was obviously a serious threat. They are not extra security. They take joy in harassing citizens for no reason. Credible threat, I could see. But random check to harass legal, law abiding citizens.
Sounds similar to my last experience with TSA.
The passengers routinely catch people trying to do something bad on the flight - not the TSA. TSA completely missed the underwear bomber. They also routinely miss between 70 and 95% of the weapons and bombs used to audit them in surprise inspections.
Other issues have resulted in passengers beating the crap out of someone harming other people, and this recent case of some mental nut trying to open the cabin door and injuring the flight attendant. Several guys took care of the situation by basically hog-tying the offender with duct tape.
