My father was in the Navy during World War II and happened to be in theater when the surrender of Japan was formalized. His ship later ported in Nagasaki, and he was able to take shore leave and wander around the ruins and devastation. He always maintained it should have been left it as it was and the UN headquarters placed in the middle of it, rather than in New York City.
Taiwan is not in the UN because of China's demands for all nations to accept their "One China" policy.

Why did I capitalize WHO? It was a double entendre of the question Who? and the acronym for the WHO (World Health Organization) Who controls the WHO? CHINA.

I'm a quarter German (out of Saxony) but I have to sadly conclude that the German people pay more respect to Ordnung (order) than to Freiheit (freedom). The 30 Year's War did not deter the Franco-Prussian War. The Franco-Prussian War did not deter World War I. World War I did not deter World War II. One can only wonder what World War II has not deterred.

They mostly FLIPPED OUT re the Vance speech. Many of my students liked what he said as they have children and are fearful of the refugee situation. But the speech made the rest angry. They are so woke in general here.

Abstaining means you do not agree with the way the question was posed: Not agreeing with 'Russian aggression' is one thing, it's the obvious knee-jerk reaction against 'aggression'; but AGREEing with it, seems to endorse 'aggression'. Which means one is somehow forced to 'do the tight thing', and vote against.
If one does not think it is aggression, but akshully Russia protecting Russian speaking people, who are being killed for no reason other than 'voting' wrongly - then this question does not compute. Those BRICS agree with protecting people's rights, and don't agree with the premise.
Sorry. A close read indicates that South Africa voted in favor. As did all the nations of southern Africa that I could recall offhand. The DR Congo was apparently absent (what I think the black space must mean). Strangely, Tanzania was not on the list. Other nations in Africa voted in opposition (e.g., Mali, Niger), possibly because they are beneficiaries of Russian foreign aid. Africa is pretty savvy about whose ring to kiss.
