State and local governments tax and manipulate gas prices. That's why actual prices at the pump vary so wildly across the country. Thank your mayor, city counsel, county board and state governments. They're making bank off your financial struggles.
OP, keep in mind you have a pretty high state tax PER GALLON in Nebraska. Add to that the federal tax per gallon and you're paying about 50 cent PER GALLON just in tax alone. So if you get 20 gallons of gas, $10.00 of the price is tax alone. Just sayin.'
Yep, our tax in Missouri is low and in Illinois it's outrageous. The difference between a gallon of gas avg in MO 2.84, Illinois 3.46. A lot of people in Illinois drive over the border and get gas in MO, and other things as well.
(I collect points off the company's gas card, they're spending hundreds a week sending me to the jobsites. Found out how many points I'm accumulating and filled up my personal truck for 19 cents a gallon last time... 😂)
Northern NV $4.80 at Chevron but we get our gas from CA so we're screwed
Our republican state reps want to figure out how to get our gas from a different source and, of course, the libs scream "Like from Russia!" <smh>
Step 1. Place a shockingly overinflated price on something
Step 2. Wait out the initial phase of buyers freaking out over being ripped off; eventually they shut up and get used to it
Step 3. Lower the price somewhat, but to a level still well above what it was before
Step 4. Consumers have been price conditioned to think the new price feels "way lower than it WAS!" They develop a sort of Stockholm syndrome for the price gougers and lovingly appreciate them for lowering the price to only several times what it should be.
So now, you have gasoline that, in reality, with the immeasurably vast supplies of oil in existence, should be around a buck a gallon...jacked up to four and five bucks or more, for years...so now "Three bucks seems like a huge BARGAIN, Ethel!"
In Michigan, where the witches coven still rule, gas bounces between 2.99 and 3.34 a gallon every couple of weeks. I think they keep it high as a revenge on the voters for turning Michigan red, and in a feeble attempt to make Trump look bad.
Gas in Mississippi is 2.52 a gal at Murphy. It is 2.36 at Sams Club. Food is still high but I believe it will take more than a few months for prices to drop drastically.
Iowa not much better. I’m sick of the bs. Groceries are terrible. It’s just common now to not have extra money. NOT getting better even though I keep seeing posts about it.
We’re in Co Springs. Gas at Sam’s Club $3.67 for premium. 18 eggs $6.98. They were $10.98 just 3/4 wks ago, but hamburger is still $ 5.99/lb. at Safeway but the 10lb log of hamburger at Sam’s, 80/20 is $3.99/lb.
Move to the western slope, I grew up on the front range and have never regretted ditching the Denver metro area. Commiefornia 2.0
$3.19 on gas, don't know about hamburger or eggs because I just stocked up on rib-eyes for $6.99 a pound and walk out to the chicken coop for eggs. Couldn't tell you where my gas comes from but I know where my food does.
WA and it is around $4.30 around town but, we snag ours from the close by Indian reservation and it was $3.23. State Taxes pump up your states gas a lot, same with other items, of which we as well shop the local reservation store for while gassing up. Food prices have gone down(still higher than was) for some items but, remain high with others. I have not checked/gotten any fresh produce yet this week so, not sure where that stands currently. If you have reservations that are local to you but, never think to shop/get gas at them, maybe worth checking them out for more than just your yearly fireworks(I see you). lol
Surprisingly I found $2.96 a gallon in Northern New Jersey (at the Exxon right before entering the Goethals Bridge. I filled up, as I was heading to Long Island, and figured it would be worse... then found $2.90 near Stony Brook.
This is a transition period. Things will not change instantly just because Trump came in. The tarriffs and other projects will take a lot of time to get to where we need to be. There will be pain, nothing comes for free.
The only map where it pays off to live in a deep-blue state.
LOL true.... most or all of these "blue" states voted MAGA last year!! :>
$2.41 two days ago in middle Tennessee.

I won't be satisfied till it's back at $1.87/gallon, where it was in 2018 when I moved to Tennessee.

Nebraska 30.4
Federal 18.4

$2.63 at Walmart today in Arkansas.
$3.19 this morning, western slope Colorado.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a decent amount of oil under Nevada somewhere.
Give incentives to refine in state & compete with Utah & California.
Utah really needs to get their act together & drop diesel prices via less regulation too.

Nope.
I’m surprised NC is part of the cool group this time. Normally, SC is in the cool group, and NC is sucking commie dick.
$3.19 today in Orlando. I paid $2.95 a month ago, once.
We have the "gas tax" in NJ {shocking!} Which adds about.40 per gallon.
it's about 3.30 per gallon right now.
However, it's traditionally lower on NJ than other states for some reason.
Still $3.59 around PHX area, Cheaper if you go south towards Tucson by 80 cents
2.89/gal. Southwest Missouri at a Casey's quicky mart today, got the cheapest price available at the pump, though.

I filled up in S.C. about an hour ago and the regular gas was $2.53 a gallon.
we all know that until big oil is shut down prices will be high.
Here is where I marked it when DJT was elected into office. Virtually no change in 4 months.

We are under $3 in VA.

Moved from CA in 1996. This place was absolute paradise. But it truly has become Commie. Just turned 71 in March. No more moving for me!
I paid $4.15 yesterday.
The focus should be on who controls the price of Diesel. THAT is why Everything is 'still high'.

Good to know,I've been worried about the people of Nebraska affording their gas.....

NewScum slapped more gas tax and in the Bay Area it is $4.90 for cheapest gas up to $5:50
