But Newsom - stupid as he is - just announced that he would redistrict for the sole purpose of offsetting another state's political gains WITHOUT EVEN A PRETEXT that it relates to on-the-ground population realities. That kind of redistricting can be challenged, and there's no putting the genie back in the bottle now that Newsom has said it out loud.

The easiest way to end gerrymandering is to increase the size of the House. We've been frozen at 435 critters for a century now. The census was supposed to be used to add members with respect to population, not draw new boundaries.
Yes this technically increases government, but it also gives us a more accurate sample of the population (to be specific, citizens) and shrinks the size of these districts.
Of course, this isn't exactly ideal to do right now with the pay package these faggots get, but that can always be negotiated.
