The reason we no longer honor the sabbath is the same reason we no longer honor all the regulations bound by the old laws in Leviticus. We are no longer under the law, but in the joyous sate of forgiveness and grace of Jesus in a new covenant.
Paul warned us that we are no longer bound by that old law, and are now free in our faith in him. The Early Christians assembled on the first day of the week because that is the day that Christ rose from the grave. They sang songs, prayed, observed the Lords Supper, and heard messages of the gospel from the living Apostles and later, disciples of Jesus.
The Sabbath was proclaimed as a day of rest under the old law, and was made for man’s benefit. As Christians, we rest on Sunday, the Lords day, and gather together to encourage one another and worship God.
One final thought….All the other commandments are reiterated in the New Testament…except for observing the sabbath.
Many of our churches need to clean house. It's the reason a lot of good Christians abandoned them. Perhaps what we need to do is go back to the way they worshipped in the early days of the church -- gathered in each other's houses.
Excellent point. I'm a man of faith and believer in God. Lost my trust in organized religion (churches) a long time ago. Yes, they need to "clean house." Churches seem to be run like businesses anymore. I keep my faith between me and my God, eliminating the middle man (churches) who only seem to want to capitalize on the relationship.
Years ago I discovered that the denomination of the church I went to supported rebel soldiers in a foreign country with the donations that were given for mission work.
Later, the church I attended hired a new pastor who greatly increased the size of the congregation...until it was discovered that he was picking up men at a local bar and bringing them back to the parsonage. The congregation found this out after his wife left and divorced him.
The ones you look up to the most are the ones that let you down, so it would seem.
If I told you who and what "God" was, you wouldn't trust me either.
Look at who you do trust. The Vatican's definitions and interpretations, passed down by the blind leading the blind for the past 1700 years. Otherwise known as the "cabal". They are responsible for mainstream Christian understanding. The same gang that runs the banking, government, military, media, legal and educational systems.
Do you disagree? Do you think the cabal controls and has controlled all these other institutions but somehow hasn't gotten their mitts on religious institutions as well?
Yep, they made up a whole new "religion", by simply changing the meanings of a couple dozen words and interpreting it from a literal, historic, materialistic perspective.
Scripture is truly a 'psychological drama within consciousness". That's what it's all about. An 'inside job' from beginning to end. But very few "believers" are open to hearing such a suggestion. It's "blasphemy and heretical" to suggest anything other than the popular understanding. Christians just "turn off" and won't hear a word of it, thanks to some very clever tricks and manipulations built into the Cabal/Roman/Vatican rendition.
That will probably happen organically out of necessity at some point.
I recommend watching The Story Keepers. It’s a cartoon, but gives a good idea of the situation. Is The Chosen from the same time period? I haven’t made time to see it yet.
Agreed, but before "the church" (circa 325 AD). Unfortunately, most Christians are steeped in the cabal (Roman) ideas, meanings, definitions, interpretations that have been deceitfully spread to the masses.
As a simple example, expressed by the OP, the "sabbath" is a lesson in "creation". "Creation" occurs in our imagination. The "day of rest" is in relaxing and knowing what you have imagined will come to pass as you wish. This is the "esoteric" meaning of the sabbath.
But 99% of practicing Christians won't even entertain the esoteric teachings. They, like all people, have been profoundly programmed to reject any suggestion that their preferred belief system has been debauched by the controlling cabal.
Christians, Buddhists, Muslims, Hindus, atheists, materialists, republicans, democrats alike. All are locked into the cabal-generated dogma and can't see the forest for the trees.
It seems it's next to impossible to snap people out of this brainwashing until they can come to grips with the fact that everything in the mainstream, popular domain has been altered and debauched by the cabal. Their hands aren't just in government, or banking, or the legal system, or universities, or media. As many people now accept --- TO A DEGREE -- on this board.
The brainwashing starts in nursery school and Sunday school alike.
Can you really believe the cabal would allow "the truth" to be freely and openly expressed and taught in publicly accessible venues? Especially when it comes to spirituality and religion. These are the PRIMARY institutions they must debauch and control.
The controlling cabal was not allowed to completely deny earnest truth-seeking humans from the truth. Historically, these humans ended up in monasteries, abbeys, heritages, ashrams, mountain tops, mystery schools, etc. These were the places where historically truth could be quietly shared and discussed.
Things have changed since 1888 however. The truth was finally allowed to be openly discussed, by divine dispensation no less. But the power of the cabal to brainwash and control the public discussion continues to hold sway with the masses. This is changing fast and more and more people are snapping out of "going along to get along", but we're still a ways away from mainstream Christians willingness to entertain and contemplate the esoteric teachings, which have been around since time immemorial.
🤯 to this part..... > The controlling cabal was not allowed to completely deny earnest truth-seeking humans from the truth. I remember sitting in my college world religions class and coming to this realization. I blows my mind that others have a difficult time seeing it.
Thanks again fren for your role in this awakening. I appreciate all your comments and desire to share truth. I’m stalking your comments so I can read some good threads. 😂

Much appreciated. Glad to have you hear as well, upvoting even my most controversial and aggravating comments!! hahaha

"Safety in numbers" explains it pretty well. Some of us didn't have that program installed, or were able to avoid it in our consciousness. The irony is, all these mainstream religious traditions contain all the "pointers to truth" that would ever be needed. But the cabal's popularized renditions of them all point in the opposite direction!
You're making a difference here too, and I appreciate all your kind words! Our numbers will grow, leaps and bounds in the not-too-distant future. You can bank on it!

If we are to turn over the third commandment, which of the others is next?
Abandon what you’ve been taught by your church, whatever church it may be. Neither take my word. Dig into the scriptures and test them.
Christians do not keep the Sabbath.
“What would Jesus do?”
Jesus kept the Sabbath. Jesus kept the Feasts. The apostles kept the Feasts after the crucifixion. If they kept the Feasts, under what logic would they abandon the Sabbath, which is the foremost of them?
Jesus was under the old law. He kept it perfectly. But when the new kingdom came on the Day of Pentecost in the upper room, Peter and the apostles preached the gospel in different languages, and 3000 plus were added to the brand new established kingdom of God. We were no longer under a system of law keeping, but rather one of grace and forgiveness. Read Acts. It is clear that we are now in the Kingdom of God, with Jesus at the head of the new Church of Christ. The first day of the week is now the day of gathering.
Jesus was under the old law. He kept it perfectly.
Er, no.
Jesus was criticized by the Jewish leaders because he 'failed to hold the Sabbath'.
But, personally, I think there is a massive misunderstanding in a lot of modern Christianity about how they (we) interpret Paul's words.
What Jesus came to teach was an upgrade, and an upgraded way of relating to God, the Father.
The Laws kept by the Israelites were God's commandment to them; and in holding to them, they fulfilled their responsibility to practice faith in God. But the basis of those laws was still God's transcendental truths. For example, the Ten Commandments.
eg Do not commit murder. This fundamental principle has not changed nor was it 'swept away' when Jesus taught the Gospels and ushered in (opened for humanity) a higher, upgraded relationship with God.
It just meant that we can honor God and get closer to God through Jesus standard and by uniting with the Gospels.
Aka we become 'justified' to God by keeping the word of the Gospel (aka faith in Christ and living the Gospel), on a level that supercedes the mere keeping of the ten commandments.
But, the principle behind 'keeping the Sabbath' is still very real. It is grounded in that transcendental truth that God has expressed first thru the Commandments and then upgraded via Christ. (These will be upgraded when Christ returns, to a higher, new dimension. which is why as Christians, we cannot simply think, oh, we're all ok, just because we have spiritual salvation. We're waiting for, and preparing for, that upgrade when Christ returns. But if we're not ready.... oh.... "depart from me you evil doers!" )
The principle of the Sabbath is to take the time to focus on God, honor God in the quietness of my heart. If all of humanity took one day to reflect on, focus on, God, God's word, God's love, etc, the world would be transformed much more quickly. At least, that's what I believe.
I do not believe that I have to practice the 'Sabbath' in order to qualify for God's love or receive his forgiveness, BUT I do believe that he gave that instruction/guidance to the Israelites for a very good and important reason.
The principle of the Sabbath is to take the time to focus on God, honor God in the quietness of my heart. If all of humanity took one day to reflect on, focus on, God, God's word, God's love, etc, the world would be transformed much more quickly. At least, that's what I believe.
As a simple example, expressed by the OP, the "sabbath" is a lesson in "creation". "Creation" occurs in our imagination. The "day of rest" is in relaxing and knowing what you have imagined will come to pass as you wish. This is the "esoteric" meaning of the sabbath.
The core distinction between the mainstream "exoteric" interpretation of scripture and the mystical "esoteric" interpretation, is one of disempowerment versus empowerment. One need not look any further than every other mainstream institution to recognize this pattern of deception. Whether it be our government, legal, economic, academic, religious or medical institutions, all have been expertly designed to brainwash the masses into outsourcing their natural sovereignty and internal "knowing" to an outside source. Whether it be the institutionally degreed, accredited, ordained, or licensed "experts and authorities", or still further, to a man who lived two-thousand years ago or something else that sits afar and apart from us. In all cases, the exoteric presentation of all our institutions has trained humanity to look "out there" for its answers. Precisely in the opposite direction to where all our answers actually exist.
This single deception, defined by the controlling cabal as the "liberal agenda", which I call "victim consciousness", is a perfect inversion of how reality actually works. Whether it be a government official, lawyer, professor, doctor, minister, priest or Jesus or God looked to for answers, the end result is a profound sense of helplessness and powerlessness as we deny and dismiss our own perfectly tuned inner-knowing. Within this inversion our natural free will is ultimately violated as we are forced to disregard our instinct and intution in favor of intellectual BELIEVING.
And make no mistake, that's precisely what's going on -> BELIEVING. What scripture meant by "belief or faith" bears no resemblance to how these words are understood today. Today, a BELIEF is an abstract idea, concept or thought that resides exclusively within the smallest, newest and least important aspect of our "mind". It was meant to only occupy 1% of our attention when added to the human being. Intuition and instinct were always meant to be the dominant aspects of "mind".
This is precisely what the "fall from grace" or "fall of man" is referencing. To "eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil" is to JUDGE. "Knowledge" represents intellectual thought-fodder, almost none of which is needed, let alone required to operate in this earthly realm. Judgment naturally leads to fear. And it is these two energies, fear and judgment, that destroy man.
I would greatly expand upon the other quote you shared regarding "the purpose of the sabbath". Focusing upon God/Love/Heart is the reversal of the fall from grace. It's not something to be done one day a week for an hour or two, it's something to be practiced during all our waking hours. Heart-Based-Awareness (HBA) is our NATURAL STATE. We find ourselves in it when we are laughing, playing, relaxing, enjoying, enthusiastically working, perfecting a craft, hobby, musical talent, sport with inspiration. These are all examples of natural HBA.
To "focus on God" simply means to withdraw your focus on primarily the incessant monkey-mind thought-stream, but also on what your five senses are reporting upon from "out there". In short, your attention is redirected "within", where scripture tells us "God" or "Christ" exists quite accurately. HBA is a subtle, gentle, effortless shift that requires discipline and vigilance. It's simple, but not easy as we were all deeply brainwashed into allowing our attention to drift and settle upon the monkey-mind thought-stream.
This HBA practice redirects our attention, or "awareness" back to "God", which is effectively our intuition and instinct, the vital parts of our "minds" that are largely ignored by the masses. That "still, small voice" is always available and speaking to us. You simply have to hold your attention on it in order to hear it. Unlike the endlessly chattering monkey-mind, this intuitive voice speaks quietly, softly and doesn't incessantly repeat itself.
"God" is "love" through and through. "Loving awareness" to be more precise. And as such, "God gives us more of what we focus upon, what we place our attention upon. If our attention is on the monkey-mind, fear, judgment, hate, blame, condemnation, anger, self-devaluation, uncertainty, worry and doubt abound. Such is the nature of the monkey-mind - RESISTANCE. When these energies are BELIEVED TO BE TRUE, we feel badly. It is in the "feeling badly" that our Christ intuition is communicating its disagreement with these "satanic" thoughts we are entertaining.
As the pithy sayings go; "where your attention (awareness), a.k.a. "love" goes, energy grows. And likewise, "that which you RESIST, persists".
Thus, more "focus on God" grows your feelings of love, kindness, compassion, understanding, humility, charity, etc. which I call the "Jesus energies". Unlike the satanic energies of RESISTANCE, the nature of these is one of ALLOWANCE/ACCEPTANCE. It is easy to distinguish between the two, once again, by how you FEEL when entertaining them.
The "sabbath" is indeed the period of total relaxation and enjoyment after you FEEL LIKE your desires are "on the way". It is a "knowing" quite apart from BELIEVING. As such, scritpure takes on a whole new meaning if you can make this leap;
Matthew 21:22 - "If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”
To "pray" is to FEEL LIKE you have what you desire. it is not to "want" or "wish for". And this is how you "pray without ceasing". You move through your daily activities in the KNOWING/FEELING of your wish fulfilled.
And to BELIEVE is to have complete TRUST that your wish has already been fulfilled, as it has in the metaphysical realm. It merely takes time to manifest into physical form. The only thing that can prevent the materialization of your wish is, of course, 'satan", which can best be described as what I call the "FUD-Monster" - Fear, uncertainty and doubt. I prefer to use the word "worry" instead of fear as so many people misunderstand what "fear" represents. Therefore, to worry or doubt is to have COMPLETE TRUST in not getting what you want as you waste your all-valuable attention (love) on intellectually thinking about a future you do not desire.
Herein lies the caricature of the devil on the left shoulder and the angel on the right. The "great battle" between Christ and Satan. Do you trust that all your desires can be achieved, as your heart and intuition tell you, or do you trust the outer "experts and authorities" and their intellectual knowledge fodder giving you all the reasons why you can't have what you want?
The "sabbath" is reached when you FEEL fully confident and are sure your wishes will be RECEIVED. I call this state "receptive mode", which is synonymous with the "sabbath". There is no more "work" needed to be done in imagination and now we can relax and enjoy the fruits of our currently manifested desires. All along the way, from the seed of the desire to its fruition, the path is lined with ease, grace and FEELING GOOD. When we aren't feeling good, that's your soul or Christ communicating to you that you're off the path of least resistance (most allowance).
You have all the power. And your power is "Love", the nature and essence of "God". You have been gifted with unlimited use of this power to create the life of your dreams. The more you employ it, the better life gets for you. The more you unwittingly allow the intellectual thought-stream to interfere with your desires, the worse life gets for you.
And your ability to wield the greatest power in the universe starts with SELF-LOVE. The more you love yourself, the easier everything gets. And loving yourself includes the good, bad and ugly you currently define. Your body, you appearance, your bad habits, your tough days, your weaknesses, etc. All of it needs and is begging to be loved by you. This is what many people call 'shadow work". Which is really this simple. Can you love all aspects of yourself unconditionally? The new age "unconditional love" phrase effectively means to ALLOW/ACCEPT yourself as you currently are.
As you get better at this, the judgment you project onto others and the world at large begins to diminish with equal rapidity. All that complaining, blaming, criticizing and hating of "others out there" fades into the background. And when you notice this, your ability "live the life of your dreams" really begins to accelerate in seemingly miraculous ways. Because all that nasty judgment we spew out onto others and the world at large is really us projecting aspects of ourselves that we have not yet come to love and accept as they are.
An esoteric lesson in scriptural interpretation for your consideration and contemplation.
Namaste (As I see/feel the Christ in me, I see/feel the Christ in you)
Paul was a Pharisee, and was confronted on the road to Damascus by Jesus from heaven. He became the most prolific writer of the books of the New Testament! He suffered for the cause of Christ more than any other. I have no idea why anyone would proclaim him a false teacher.
Tricky point. The real crux of the matter, Paul makes abundantly clear himself:
Now we see but a dim reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
Paul openly and unabashedly admitted that he doesn't see the whole picture. Accordingly, his perspective, while powerfully instructive, cannot be taken as perfect truth.
Despite this, Paul foresaw a future point where he, and we, would be 'upgraded' in our understanding to the point that 'I shall know fully, even as I am fully known'.
I ask myself, who is the one who 'knows' Paul, fully? That is the Father and Jesus.
To me, what Paul is foreshadowing is that as part of God's divine plan, there will be a stage and a point in its unfolding when we will come to know and understand ourselves (and the rest of the providence) as God does.
I believe that when Christ returns, this is the upgrade he will bring. The third and final installment. The entire purpose of the Gospel is to help humanity to prepare and be ready for when Christ returns. Not being ready will have difficult consequences.
In any case, to call Paul a false teacher misses the point. God an Christ used Paul to lay down many key, important aspects of the New Word, the Gospel (aka the New Testament) as guidance for Christians during the long period (as it turns out) of waiting and preparing for Christ's return.
In any case, to call Paul a false teacher misses the point.
To be clear, agreed. I amended my comment as well because I also don’t think everything Paul wrote is taught falsely, just parts, and some of that varies by teacher. Snip snip, tweak tweak. Those little pieces have a huge impact, however.
It’s kinda done the same way [they] taught us the constitution. “Oh here’s a phrase for you to misconstrue that isn’t there”, “allow me to change the common understanding of this word’s meaning”, “let’s ignore this bit over here”, “here’s an unclear translation for you”, etc.
No disagreement with anything I know that Paul wrote, though. This is still why I wrote that nobody should take either my word, nor their church’s on these matters, but test things for themself. For some things, having a good Strong’s concordance is necessary, and discernment always.
To be clear, the above comment by me was in response to a former reply, that labelled Paul as a false teacher.
As is very often the case, there is some truth in any of the viewpoints that emerge. The challenge is to draw on those varied perspectives to increase the 'resolution' of the understanding, as it were. God Bless you, AE
Paul isn’t a false teacher, he’s just very difficult (remember, he was converting Pharisees, who were a bit like Lawyers), and easy to misconstrue from our lacking modern contexts and translations.
Paul, as taught, is false (edit: in parts). Jesus, as recorded, is very straightforward, but ignored in favor of misunderstanding Paul. I don’t claim to understand why.
2 Peter 3:15-16 - 15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; 16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest (as they do also the other scriptures) unto their own destruction.
I.e. People take Paul out of context, leading to their own destruction, but this is also not unique to Paul. I may have taken another verse out of Biblical context, via poor translation, earlier today even myself - it is important to always test things.
My problem with this is that if you are going to argue that the Sabbath is part of the the Law we don't have to keep, what do you do with the rest of the Ten Commandments? The Sabbath is part of the Decalogue, after all.
Also, the Sabbath ties to the Creation mandate, in that God appeals to creation and His choice to rest on it.
Jesus called Himself the Lord of the Sabbath. He is not the Lord of things dead but of the living!
Paul in Hebrews says there remains a Sabbath rest, so whether you keep it on the seventh day or the first day , you are keeping the principle of a Sabbath, even if you do not keep the Sabbath on the Seventh Day!
All other commandments are in the New Testament. The only one not mentioned specifically for us is the sabbath. Remember that the sabbath was made for man to rest. So it is with the new covenant, by us coming together as the early Christians on the first day of the week…the Lords Day.
Peace, fren. It took me almost 10 years to walk this. It took others years of being annoyed by my “difficulties” and “ruining dinner by refusing to eat the pork chops.”
Even then. Everyone who sees it sees it in their own time.
I wish I was as peaceful arguing with liberals about their being terrorists as I am with pointing this out to other Christians. Kek.
If you focus solely on what Christ said in the gospels, he said that he did not come to abolish the law. He said when asked 4 times how to receive eternal life. He said “Follow the commandments, love God with all your heart and soul, love your neighbor as yourself.”
Pauls words are not to be trusted. It’s too easy.
Jesus said the narrow gate to eternal life is hard. And the easy path leads to destruction. We are to be obedient, repent, follow the commandments, and love Him. This is the way.
He also said “beware of those who come in my name and say I am the Christ. On judgement day I will say I never knew you. And they will say Lord, Lord, did I not cast out demons and heal in your name? And I will say depart from me you who practice “lawlessness.” (Paul)
Do not believe Paul. This is also a part of the Great Awakening. As Satan said to Eve “surely you shall not die.” Paul says to the sheep of Christ, “surely you shall not die if you have faith, believe, and profess Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior.” Even demons know Jesus is the son of God.
Jesus tells us how to have eternal life. Paul doesn’t quote Jesus in his letters. Paul appointed himself an apostle. Paul was blinded by Jesus? Jesus heals the blind.
JESUS is our Sabbath rest. The weekly Sabbath was a signpost (Ex 31:13) pointing to God's ultimate rest.
Jesus fulfills this by offering spiritual rest from sin and striving. The Sabbath is reoriented as mercy, freedom and healing. Jesus is the believer's Sabbath rest - not just one day per week, but a continual, eternal rest found in Him!
"For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath." - Matt 12:8
"The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. So the Man is Lord even of the Sabbath." - Mark 2:27-28
"So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, for whoever has entered God's rest has also rested from his works as God did from His.". - Hebrews 4:11
"Let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. There are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ." - Colossians 2:16-17
"One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind." - Romans 14:5-6
That's a better answer than others I have seen, (see my comment above), but I still think that the creation mandate indicates that we operate most optimally with one day of rest and worship a week.
While I realize some consider Saturday to be the sabbath and others to be Sunday, my family has always treated it as Sunday.
Since the day my son was born 26 years ago, every Sunday we travel 45 minutes to my parents (my son still comes with us) and we spend the day with them, cook dinner for them, fix up the house, etc. This has become especially important in later years as they're both in their 80's.
Perhaps 3 to 4 weeks out of the year we do not visit them on Sundays (usually when we're on vacation). Otherwise, we're there every single Sunday which is saying something considering how unpleasant my father is.
Honoring the sabbath has definitely allowed us to honor our father and mother.
yes Saturday is the Sabbath. Starts with SA -bbath / SA -turday. It is just like the rainbow flag and much other things. Many will say it is not a Spiritual thing, but then they on purpose try to wipe away the Truth. So if you do not tell your kids that the Rainbow is Gods symbol they will grow up believing the Rainbow means LGBTQ blah, blah, blah garbage...
We have allowed the minority to control stuff for far too long. Look at the Police across the USA they have done the exact same thing. Under the guise of freedom of speech they inserted the blue line flag.. They always start it off with a noble thing. How noble and they will also say it is not the True American Flag... now you will see Police care more about the blue line flag than the American Flag. If you burn a USA flag you will see Police do nothing, but burn the Blue Line Flag and watch out. Same with the Rainbow flag. The same Spirit is deceiving for many decades but the last decade since Trump somehow won over the Wicked Witch of the Woke in '16 they have been working overtime.
When they Crucified Jesus they had in the public people sprinkled in about the same percentage we see today to sway the Mob to the direction they wanted. After Jesus was Crucified is when they realized they messed up. Jesus said it must be done.
Change is a hard thing to do. So is realizing we have been lied to for our whole lives. Still tomorrow is the first day of the work week and today is the first day of the week. :) no need to be mad about things that our fathers gave to us. Maybe we can start changing it back and see USA prosper like we should.
Thank you, I was about to point out something similar. When you read Luke's version of the Crucifixion, he points out it was the chief priests and the crowd (not even a multitude) who went to Pilate to call for death. when the dirty deed was done, and the people realized who had just been crucified (he was marred beyond recognition, between the flogging and the tearing off of the 'royal robe' and the crown of thorns, they all beat their chests in sorrow - See Luke 23: 26 - 49
interesting detailed look into the sequence and how people responded, reading this with the “Triumphant Entry” on the donkey as a sign of peace the week before
That depends on what he says. I believe the day should be reserved for rest, recreation, and studying Scripture. Am I going to force this on anyone else, or claim you are not going to heaven if you don't keep it? No, because only one sin actually keeps one out of Heaven - Rejecting the price Jesus paid for our sin.
But I affirm that obedience brings blessing, and reveals the family likeness, as described in Romans 3 - 8
Romans 6:1 - What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
So what is sin, specifically?
“Not being loving.” Nice. Ok, now you can’t refute the Methodists who are advocating sodomy. We all agree that we need to End the Fed, right? Well, why? Because usury is evil? Is usury defined as a sin? Why, yes it is. Why doesn’t the church teach that we should avoid usury?
Oh, because that would be legalism, yet we all know it to be evil. How odd.
Try again.
1 Corinthians 5:8 (KJV) - Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened [bread] of sincerity and truth.
What’s this! Why, it’s the apostles keeping the biblical feasts after Jesus’ resurrection! How strange, did they keep any of the rest of The Torah, often translated as “The Law”, but more accurately translated as “The Teachings”? Teachings? Didn’t the apostles call Jesus “Teacher”?
1 ¶ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
14 ¶ And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
What was The Word at the beginning?
WHO was The Word at the Beginning?
Genesis 1:1.
Apologies that I sometimes teach in passion, if you want a fault to point at me.
Exodus 31:13 - Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and youthroughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you.
But we grow into them. I honestly agree on this, but God in His sovereignty brings each person along at the pace He chooses... I have dear friends and family who have not seen the light on this yet, but are at least seeking to live by what Jesus called the two greatest commands: Love the Lord with all your heart, mind, soul and strength and love your neighbor as yourself.
There is a veil over their eyes as well, since they are not concerned about the picture that the Feasts and Festivals paint so clearly of Jesus.
“Hey guys, Jesus only fulfilled the first four during his first coming… if you don’t continue observing them, you’re not going to spot the other three when they start showing up…”
What’s truly insane… THE ENEMY likely keeps a better watch on The Feasts than most of the faithful!!!
… “but that would be legalistic.”
“Just keep waiting on that Rapture, I guess. Go, go, Team Schofield! Wooo!”
Exactly why I refuse to attend. I don't "look up" to any man of the cloth, only God. There have been too many wake up calls:
Priests/Pastors preying on the young/vulnerable.
Former MLB player Ben Zobrist. Look him up. In a nutshell, a man of faith (Zobrist) who's wife had an affair with his pastor/advisor.
This guy
And this guy
And this guy
The list is endless
"Those you are taught to trust the most."
-- Q
If I told you who and what "God" was, you wouldn't trust me either.
Look at who you do trust. The Vatican's definitions and interpretations, passed down by the blind leading the blind for the past 1700 years. Otherwise known as the "cabal". They are responsible for mainstream Christian understanding. The same gang that runs the banking, government, military, media, legal and educational systems.
Do you disagree? Do you think the cabal controls and has controlled all these other institutions but somehow hasn't gotten their mitts on religious institutions as well?
I totally agree that Rome hijacked Christianity for its own ends.
Such is the way it is for the moment...
👏 to your entire comment.....
Reconcile.
Lawlessness/Iniquity/Unrighteousness/Transgression of the Law
Reconcile.
Matthew 5:17 (KJV) - Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
What is fulfil?
Reconcile.
Exodus 20:9-10 - Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
If we are to turn over the third commandment, which of the others is next?
Abandon what you’ve been taught by your church, whatever church it may be. Neither take my word. Dig into the scriptures and test them.
Christians do not keep the Sabbath.
“What would Jesus do?”
Jesus kept the Sabbath. Jesus kept the Feasts. The apostles kept the Feasts after the crucifixion. If they kept the Feasts, under what logic would they abandon the Sabbath, which is the foremost of them?
Look for yourself.
I do not believe that I have to practice the 'Sabbath' in order to qualify for God's love or receive his forgiveness, BUT I do believe that he gave that instruction/guidance to the Israelites for a very good and important reason.
u/TheMindBlownZone
I think you two are both hitting on very important aspects that even among most observing the Biblical Sabbath is not in focus yet, but it will be.
May righteousness abound on the Earth. Amen.
The "sabbath" is indeed the period of total relaxation and enjoyment after you FEEL LIKE your desires are "on the way". It is a "knowing" quite apart from BELIEVING. As such, scritpure takes on a whole new meaning if you can make this leap;
Namaste (As I see/feel the Christ in me, I see/feel the Christ in you)
We can have this discussion elsewhere if you want, but don’t want to eat up all the space here going back and forth.
It tends to not precisely be a short discussion.
Thank you very much! (You said it both more simply and more powerfully than I would have!).
Kek was looking for another comment with a YouTube link and noticed a lot of downdoots came behind me on this.
Funny how they didn’t present any arguments to go with them!

I do get a bit wound up with the “careful, legalism” argument.
Ah, yes. Let’s all just be gods unto ourselves!
I am in awe at this happening.
Absolutely in awe. Had no idea.
They won’t listen and cannot reconcile.
They are deceived by the Traditions of Men.
The choice to know will be yours.
Love this!!! Thank you! Paul is a false teacher. Focus only on Jesus!
Paul was a Pharisee, and was confronted on the road to Damascus by Jesus from heaven. He became the most prolific writer of the books of the New Testament! He suffered for the cause of Christ more than any other. I have no idea why anyone would proclaim him a false teacher.
Per my note below, because he’s taught falsely. His writings are not false, though.
Edit: More detail for the downdooters: https://greatawakening.win/p/1AR0Q64lCG/x/c/4eWbmtZAJ1f
Tricky point. The real crux of the matter, Paul makes abundantly clear himself:

The PCA holds to the Westminster Confession, which has this to say about Sabbath: https://thereformedmind.wordpress.com/2013/02/18/westminster-larger-catechism-questions-115-121/ (personally I disagree with the idea of no recreation see question 117, note 625)
We are not under the Law as a path to Heaven, Yet Paul who proclaims this vehemently, also says,
Romans 3 :31 We establish the Law!
Can you reconcile this?
All other commandments are in the New Testament. The only one not mentioned specifically for us is the sabbath. Remember that the sabbath was made for man to rest. So it is with the new covenant, by us coming together as the early Christians on the first day of the week…the Lords Day.
“… which was decreed by the Pope, who claimed he had that authority.”
I disagree.
Now if one wanted to argue that attending congregation on a day other than Sabbath was commendable and good, there are some decent arguments for that.
It’s a Commandment of God!!!!
Are you saying the 10 Commandments of God, written by His own finger into stone tables, is invalid somehow????
EDIT: And Christians can pick and choose which of Gods Commandments to “honor”?
Peace, fren. It took me almost 10 years to walk this. It took others years of being annoyed by my “difficulties” and “ruining dinner by refusing to eat the pork chops.”
Even then. Everyone who sees it sees it in their own time.
I wish I was as peaceful arguing with liberals about their being terrorists as I am with pointing this out to other Christians. Kek.
I totally hear you fren, and can relate.
Next, talk to them about Hell. That really gets ‘em thinking.
I hope your spirits stir while reading this.
He was an amazing young Man.
What a great article and reminder. I even want to get his book.
I genuinely think there's something to this.
When you read Luke's version of the Crucifixion, he points out it was the chief priests and the crowd (not even a multitude) who went to Pilate to call for death. when the dirty deed was done, and the people realized who had just been crucified (he was marred beyond recognition, between the flogging and the tearing off of the 'royal robe' and the crown of thorns, they all beat their chests in sorrow - See Luke 23: 26 - 49
interesting detailed look into the sequence and how people responded, reading this with the “Triumphant Entry” on the donkey as a sign of peace the week before
Legalism. Be careful.
Lawlessness, be careful.
“Justified by grace through faith”
Faith is obedient action.
Obedient to what.
God’s commands.
“Sin” is disobeying God.
Exodus 31:13 - Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you.
Indeed!!
“Cameron” means “crooked nose”.
Kirk means…
Kirk Cameron promoted what series…?
Who funded the Schofield…?

<banghead>
Wooo!”
