I believe it's all short term optics to avoid a worldwide revolt - totally subsidised by much lower fuel taxes, which is both unsustainable and kicking a bigger can down the road .... where it will likely see huge hikes again. Just in time for winter when Germany is pretty much already feck'd.

This proves how thing's CAN change. I've lived in Dresden Germany for just over a year now at 55. These kids are likely in their 80s now, like most of my neighbours, and a more welcoming and friendly community to "outsiders" you could never imagine. That INCLUDES naturalised Russians from before 1990)
