The booms come in from the bottom of the frame and move with such rapid ease that our initial reaction is that they must be close to the foreground and small like a handheld microphone, which is why they would look a bit blurry and out of focus.
They're blurry because of video compression, and the source video is of such high quality that you can easily see that there was no blur on the booms. Very crisp. If you watch the black one closely you can see that it get SHADED by Biden as it passes under his hand.
Finally, if the video was layered in editing, then they would have had to rotoscoped layers for bidens hand to go over the mic and then another for bidens torso for the mics to go over Biden. If it were edited, why would they do that? They wouldn't need to go to all that work to fake a video, they would just need three layers. If it was faked--in order to look like how it does--a video editor would have had to split bidens layer into two on purpose to intentionally put his hand over.
The simple truth is that it was an optical trick.
