Pay cuts would make perfect sense but I have to believe the owners are betting on a Chinese payoff for professional sports. It almost appears like professional sports (in the US) is proactively reducing their US revenue stream addiction in order to globalize their brand.
It may also be a sign that owners are expecting current network contracts will soon be reduced/eliminated due to future events affecting main stream media. (ABC,CBS, NBC,FOX...). Sports won’t survive if those billion $ contracts dry up

I remember as the Warriors were moving to their new arena in SF from Oakland, the push was to change the name from Golden State to SF because SF was more recognized. The old arena had access to BART and parking (thought we wanted a green agenda?) but IMHO, the biggest issue was it was an absolute slap in the face to the fan base in the East Bay who stuck by them for years when they sucked. But hey, gotta keep the tech bros happy...
The NBA is trash not just the politics but the product itself. Growing up with Jordan, Barkley, Shaq, John Stockton, Pippen, Karl Malone, Gary Payton etc. Basketball in the 90's and early 2000's was pretty solid. Now it's just pure garbage from the politics, the whiny bitches like LeBron and the game play itself.
I went to Sonics games growing up and loved seeing those guys play when they came to Seattle. Never in a thousand years would I touch that shit now. I would rather fuck a crack whore then watch that sack of shit LeBron play.
80s were solid, too. Other eras had some sure fire talent. For my money, give me Joe Fulks, Ed Sadowski or even Max Zaslofsky. Those guys were the real deal!
The time to worry was before making stupid decisions. Now it's too late. We simply do NOT care. We have learned to live without sports and now we have a lot more free time.
I love basketball, but this pandemic and everything that has occurred leading up to the election steal has turned me away from the NBA. It has also made me reassess my priorities, and watching sports isn't one of them anymore. As a Raptors fan, I'm glad 2019 was the last year where a team champion was crowned with thousands in the stadium before WuFlu came in and stole 2020 from us.
