If babies needed plain water, women would have a third breast that dispensed plain water.

Seriously, how were babies supposed to drink plain water before bottles and artificial nipples were invented?

Babies drinking formula can get constipated much easier than a breastfed baby - hence the water

It’s the iron.. baby formula contains a lot of iron.. iron constipates…

It also depends on where you live.

In hot humid areas kids can get dehydrated.

Thank you for the link, my son drank soy formula and my husband asked our pediatrician about soy causing breasts in boys. He was blown off like it was nonsense, fast forward to puberty and our son has them. Thankfully he has always been athletic but he developed slower than his friends. I can’t imagine if he continued with ingesting soy products. He has been taking Thorne Multi-Vitamin Elite A.M. and P.M., hoping they can help with any damage the soy caused.

▲ 6 ▼
– MO-Carpenter 6 points 4 years ago +6 / -0

Did you know that plastic can disrupt your endocrine system and testosterone by a factor of 10 compared to soy? Eliminate plastic food containers, plastic cooking utensils, plastic cups, anything in the food process especially if it involves warm food+plastic. A multivitamin and no soy is great but if you’re still taking in plastic endocrine disrupters your stopping a leak the size of your pinky while the floodgate is still open.

▲ 5 ▼
– treepainter 5 points 4 years ago +5 / -0

There are doctors who will prescribe hormone replacement therapy. A tiny extra bit of testosterone might help with the damage.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 3 ▼
– MO-Carpenter 3 points 4 years ago +3 / -0

That’s just as retarded as hormone blockers, fixing your diet, filtering your water and removing plastics from anything that touches your food or beverages will raise your testosterone so high youll think you hit puberty again. Giving kids pharmaceutical dependency instead of good healthy living advice is ridiculous.

▲ 2 ▼
– stevethefish76 2 points 4 years ago +2 / -0

Unfortunately, it isn't that simple. The male body has a certain testosterone threshold, and everyone's different. Supplemental testosterone can cause the body to say "Well that's enough testosterone" and stop making its own. You also run the risk of the testosterone aromatizing into estradiol, which can then turn into estrogen, which puts the kid back into the same problem.

You say this forgetting that THEY have been screwing with our food, medical, and beauty products for YEARS. There is a lot more women who CANT than you think and then there are infants who can not as well. In the end, the baby being FED is best when it comes down to it.

Yeah, but again, most of society is fucking lazy as hell. Most women that don’t breastfeed is because they really don’t want the commitment. You are referring to such a tiny percentage it’s almost patronizingly defensive.

Same with the net....won't it have to be taken down to re-do? Wasn't this done with G5 transformers? IF not, it will have to be done and interruptions made. 10 days - Darkness?

Something DoeS have to be done to re-take these industries without killing the economy.

Yes, they say that goat's milk is closest to human breast milk, making it easier to digest. Our daughter was on formula for only a few days until my wife's milk came in (and hit her like a truck). At the time I knew formula was laden with soy, but I did not know of any alternatives.

Child of the 50s..raised on this formula. My mom tried to breast feed me and I was crying all the time. A family friend and a mother herself, said "that baby is hungry". She sent my dad to the store with this list. She made the formula I sucked it down and I slept for 4 hours.

When my last child was born in the 80s my husband had just started his own business and money was tight. Our pediatrician gave me this exact recipe and he thrived on it.

The problem with this formula now is that the Karo syrup is made from GMO corn guaranteed to screw up an infant's gut and God knows what else.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 5 ▼
– sad_apu 5 points 4 years ago +5 / -0

I fail to understand the reasoning for putting corn syrup in baby formula. This has to just be because it was the early 60s and back then people believed that shit was somehow good for you. Please do not feed your baby corn syrup lol.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 2 ▼
– mac1221 2 points 4 years ago +2 / -0

Because they didn't know any better and were trying to discourage the "modern" woman from breast feeding. When that took off, then they knew they had a market for baby formula.

I know a farmer who grew non gmo oats for General Mills.

He had to grow the oats on a field where another small grain wasn't planted on it the year before or it would be counted as gmo.

The reason they use gmo crops is it makes them pest and disease resistant. I guess I would take a hybrid crop over something sprayed down with pesticides.

GMO isn't always the big meany everyone thinks it is. Sometimes it really is that simple.

▲ 1 ▼
– mac1221 1 point 4 years ago +1 / -0

Unfortunately, GMO corn is that bad and that is what Karo syrup is made from. It is modified to have a gene that codes for a pesticide type compound that the plant produces. It is great for fending off pests - but not good when people and animals eat the corn. Then there is the whole glyphosate issue. Giving anything like that to infants is really going to mess them up gut wise. That will lead to a whole lifetime of issues.

Joke alert:

The waiter at a restaurant asks Benny Hill for his order. Benny sees a woman breast-feeding her baby at the table across the aisle and says, "I'll have what he's having".

Me, I breastfed until my feet touched the ground, so i'm a liberal.

Dont even really need that these days (and babies dont need karo syrup)

Head to local farm store and pick up goat milk; for a 25# bag that you mix with water will cost less than $40-50 and last a good while. Also have prebiotic powder and/or colostrum you can purchase, too, to add in for even more additional benefits.
