Yes, paintball guns. Also, notice that none of the "soldiers" are wearing helmets. They all have bare heads, but they have face and eye protection. Notice that at least 3 of them have large pressurized CO2 bottles.

Hey, maybe this is a better way of fighting wars. Let's just use large scale paintball matches to resolve national conflicts. Have some uninvolved neutral country referee the battles and point out the "casualties". They remove themselves from the battlefield. Wouldn't that be an ideal solution? Think of how much fun war would be, instead of the shitshow it is today and for the last few thousand years.

Caption in the Reuters link says that this was a training exercise, but even they aren't interested in publishing pics from what we are to assume is a hellish warzone.

My guess is because the photo is of a paintball game not a war. And judging by the guy in front with his mask up and they are all grouped up, they arent even playing. Just some guys getting ready to play.
