This movie’s storyline seemed like such a far-fetched scenario when it was 1st released. Increasingly, the truth is stranger than fiction. As more layers of truth become uncovered, everything is viewed through a different lens. Very interesting movie.
It's pretty good. I watched it not too long ago after seeing it referenced here a lot and was not disappointed. The ideas hold up really well given its age, always appreciate stories that can stay relevant long after their time.
I was dating my wife when this came out. I could never get her to understand what I did for a living. I worked for a company that manufactured modems. It clicked when Broderick plugged in that acoustic coupler. 0-300 bits per second. ooohh, baby, we're cookin' with gas!
I was at NORAD when the military was changing out the command center to look more like Wargames. They still had green screen monitors and nothing fancy. Back then they still had tours into the mountain and the tours could come into the command center (after screens were covered or made UNCLAS). People complained that Wargames looked better so eventually they upgraded things to "modernize". I know I was disappointed the first time I saw it myself.
I guess I can say I was in Space Force before Space Force was Space Force.
I worked with a fellow at a 911 center who also worked there. He helped man the Santa tracker phones in the late 80s/early 90s. You might have worked with him.

Soft Disclosure: Revealing the Truth in Movies is a way of "Manufacturing Consent" by telling us the truth and then continuing with their plan when we do not protest. Awareness of the truth is not relevant because movies are a "virtual reality" that is mimicking "actual reality".

Red Dawn (1984); reveal of planned Soviet takeover of US
Re: "Red Dawn" a long time family friend was Nam era Special Forces told my husband and I that Volunteers were ask to be on a mission to stop Russians who were supposedly to going to invade US thru Alaska. They were told they probably wouldn't be returning home from the mission. For some reason they were told to Stand down after the Team had already been filled and was training.
We watched "White Squall" in honor of JFK's birthday today...May 29, 1917. Rest in Peace Sir. o7
This sounds correct. Part of the plan is shown in Red Dawn with the Russians coming from the north into the center of the country and Mexican allied forces (nod to cartels/Cubans) coming from the south to split the country in half.
They show airdrops of Russians and equipment, but practically they would have to come through Alaska into central Canada.
It appears the Chinese CCP globalists have borrowed from this plan taking control of Canada via Vancouver (suspected city-state, HK East), prepositioning equipment along Canadian border (that came in through Chinese-controlled Vancouver ports), and allying with Mexican drug cartels (flooding US with fentanyl, etc). Possibly prepositioned Chinese troops in Mexico now that came in through Chinese-controlled Mexican ports. If they “go”, they will cut the country in half.
Yes, my friend told me that they had intel during the Carter years that they the Russians were massing in Siberia so Special Forces asked for volunteers to train in isolation apart from the other teams. So top Secret in fact that their Teams were always briefed by a one star General and this had never happened previously. They trained for two years on high alert standby until Reagan was elected and then they stood down.
He believes the Army Reserve or National Guard did the jump into the school for the movie. But easy for someone to recognize that the Russians are jumping American gear. Kek!
He used to test experimental parachutes for SF and the Army....jumped thousands and then helped modify them to perform more effectively and safely.
I had never seen "2001, a Space Odysey". In "Tron" i didn't think they broke into anything, just somehow mysteriously wound up inside a computer game. The year after "Wargames", "Real Genius" had some pretty cool period tech stuff and hacking scenes in it. I first saw those movies when they first came out, and that was state of the art tech at the time.
Q inspired me to implement Military Planning at my job:
I plan out every moving piece of all scenarios
All possible outcomes and scenarios possible - mybteam was resistant but as we moved forward and inevitable unforeseen pivots happened - they loved that we already had a strategy for that new scenario.
I now move very fast and effective. Marines now gravitate into my orbit out of the appreciation of planning
I also taunt those who do not plan with this video:

A young man finds a back door into a military central computer in which reality is confused with game-playing, possibly starting World War III.
Worth reviewing with Taiwan heating up.

Sometimes it feels like my 900mb connection drops to 300 bits per second xD
I was in high school when that came out and at the time, I was learning how to use those modems in my "Computer Math" class.

Damn what did flyover country do to piss of the subs?!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
A lot of machinist cities. Can't make repairs if they are all destroyed. They are often high on the hit list. The MidWest is a lot are located.

This was a fantastic movie. Need to rewatch it again with new perspective. Great meme!

LOL My husband and I watched this again last night on tv! Love this classic movie.
Need to fire up my ol' WOPR.
What would professor Falcon think of today’s Geopolitical world? He was hesitant to stop the WOPR in 1983.
Definitely a classic. I think this may be the first "hacker" movie ever made.
I love when he rigged the door that had a security code
2001 A Space Odysee would like to have a word.
Although, it’s the A.I. that takes over, Dave had to go into the mainframe and shut down HAL manually. “Technically” hacking HAL.
Edit: yes, Dave doesn’t use a keyboard to hack HAL so maybe it doesn’t count. But the 1982 movie Tron beats Wargames by a year.😉
