Perhaps think of getting "to the precipice" in terms of AAs "hitting rock bottom" moment ie that moment when a person chooses to die or to live.
Each persons "rock bottom" moment is unique. Some recognize the danger they're in quickly. Others don't until they've lost everything. Now shift that to a societal "rock bottom".
Fortunately, to succeed, not everyone needs to be precipice aware and a life choser. In fact, not even a majority is needed. What's needed is enough people who won't sabotage the efforts of the life choosers to defeat the death cultists.

All they have to do is change a few words and they can then require you to get the "latest" text for another $200. They intentionally obsolete the used college textbook market.

It was NOT "blacks only". However it did involve granting tax breaks to people willing to invest in in (intentionally) hard hit, primarily black neighborhoods and communities.

I don't think the precipice involves the retired community who are mostly conservative, realizing out their entire life savings is now worth nothing. That would cause massive pain and some would commit suicide. The precipice has to affect the younger generations mostly, they are the ones that need to change.
