There's more symbolism than just that in the film.
The V symbol is an upside down anarchy symbol. Also, the words on the mirror, "Vi veri veniversum vivus vici" comes from Aleister Crowley (pardon wikipedia link).

An evil government uses a rogue virus to justify becoming authoritarian in the year 2020 until a guy who goes by a single letter hijacks the messaging system and wakes up the populace to the corruption and encourages them to fight back.
I believe the portrayal of the bad guy as an ultra conservative, and the rounding up of LGBTQ types was plot camouflage to get the project green lit. There is no way Hollywood would have allowed the film to go to production if the bad guy was an ultra Liberal rounding up conservative patriots.

Best part? The guy playing the Chancellor is the same guy that played Winston in 1984.
Watched it about a year ago and it was like seeing it for the 1st time.
I'd like to know what normies see when they watch dystopian movies. It used to be easy to assume they were rooting for the hero as we were. Now, it seems like they hope the bad guys censor those trouble makers.

I wish I could feel like I watched it for the first time, but I actually got some of my family to devote their evening of the 5th November to this masterpiece… it’s been a decade, at least. Love that flick.🤗🤩

It was directed by Australian filmmaker, James McTeigue and likely the first and last of its kind
A few of McTeigue's words on 2021: "The mask gives people a voice, right? That's ultimately what it does. If you go to a protest and you know that you're going to get beaten or victimized, you can put a mask on and it can make you anonymous — like Anonymous. I think that's amazing, to tell you the truth. That’s why at the end of the movie, all of those people in masks descend on Whitehall and Trafalgar Square. It’s a metaphor: Behind those masks could be anyone, but they know there’s power in it. There’s power in the voice of the mask."

This. Gollum was CGI, V is a faceless Oscar-desserving actor.
Not quite right about Gollum. That was Andy Serkis in a suit that had laser reflectors at key body junctures, like neck, waist, elbows, knees, etc. They captured the body motion kinetics, then transferred them to a CGI construct for rendering into the scene. Think of it as a computer-generated body suit, like makeup. Do we give an acting Oscar to a makeup man? Or to the man behind the mask?
Serkins aided define a toon’s moves, whilst V’s voice and body moves were being V.
I'm not sure you get it. Without Serkin, there would have been no "moves." They were one-for-one. He provided the voice, too.
No, he portrayed a character in a different way. It was still him at the core.
First thing I did this morning wast watch it! Ever since the Scamdemic kicked off, this movie has hit another level for me. I still can't believe people's unconscious, yet willful, ignorance won't let them actually see what has happened.
Even by the end of the movie where the High Chancellor trys to flood the airwaves with hate, violence, "climate change", virus outbreaks, the people in the movie now see through the utter bullshit. In real life, I still know too many people, friends and family who drink the propeganda like a fine red wine and allow it to run their lives.. I wish it would end already.
Yes! I just wish the lesson was taking place now! The sooner the better.

Someone was shooting off fireworks in Southeastern, PA. Must be a good omen sign. Tried to grab a pic from the back of our property, but it was too late. Now tired of standing and waiting outside (although it is a beautiful, breezy night). All is quiet.

Great movie, it's set in the year 2020, about the government seizing power after a virus was released years earlier. P.S. this film was made by the Wachowskis, the people who made the Matrix with Neo's passport expiring on 9/11/01.
Years of watching this on 11-5 but I got to show it to my niece for the first time, see the wheels turning and dots connecting...it was beautiful....
