A lot of features, and while a lot of the OS features can be pre-resolved, I wouldn't take less performance for my money.

If you just want a bare-bone phone that will only do texting, emailing and some more (calling including), a custom ROM will do all of that and won't come with the bloatware.

Satellite coverage usually is not great indoors, which is a huge problem with satellite phones for your average cell phone user.

What really?! I have two Raspberry Pis 4 but I haven't been monitoring Pi news so what's going on?
Could it be because Raspberry Pi don't have a backdoor access for their ARM processor so they want to force backdoor access on future models? I read that Intel is going to come out with new CPUs that will come with a subscription plan where you pay more to unlock additional features on your CPU. I think Intel also have backdoor access for Microsoft to exploit in case of anything i.e. hacking, child porn and all that, but I suspect it's not for any of these reasons...

An Elon phone would almost certainly exclusively use StarLink, because the cabal (TMobile, AT&T, Verizon, etc) would most assuredly not host the phone on THEIR network. A repeater for the car, home, & office etc would be another source of revenue, since I do believe he would not be able to access bandwidth on any existing network.
A satellite-only phone would lose coverage anywhere indoors - no bueno for most of us.
I have a cable with a reciever/transmitter on one end I attach to my Iridium Extreme 9575 for car/indoor use (similar to SiriusXM but also transmits) I cannot imagin Elon would not provide the same. ⁹
