Remember, MTG was at many Trump rallies leading up to the mid-terms. And she flew on Trump Force one. I'm certain there was much discussion on mid-term wins and henceforth the questionable McCarthy GOP House Speaker leadership.
I would put 2 & 2 together and venture a hypothetical that MTG will be McCarthy's 'handler'. She's tough and strong and will lead McCarthy to an America First agenda. Regardless of RINO opposition, she will handle McCarthy! And she has Trump's ear, so to speak.
The question is; If, once McCarthy is voted in as Speaker, will he blow-off MTG and go about his 'business as usual' old guard, swamp rat ways or will he adhere to the America First agenda that nothing can stop what is coming?
If McCarthy has had a 'good old shake-down' from the military, will he revert back to his RINO days way?
Time will tell, otherwise if McCarthy doesn't get the votes from the 10-20 Repubs we literally could have a Dem majority vote and a Dem Speaker in a Repub House Majority! Think of that!
And keep in mind McCarthy as Speaker is third in line for the presidency! If Biden is removed due to 25th Amendment, Kamala is impeached due to election fraud/treason, that leaves McCarthy to slide in as President. Will he boldly go for the power grab?

(I tried to listen to the rallies while watching the games on TV, just to keep tabs on the candidates, Trump's comms, etc.) And she flew on Trump Force One, which I'm certain is a flying SCIFF, so to speak. Then after the mid-terms, which was a red wave, she supports McCarthy for Speaker. It didn't make sense to me either, as we know McCarthy is just another slime ball politician. His policies change more often then when the wind blows!
But then I got to thinking on MTG at all those rallies with Trump. She's a firebrand, that's for sure. She can rally a crowd whether at a rally, TV interviews or on social media.
IDK; Political strategies is a puzzling business, but there had to be a reason why MTG was at all those rallies, and why she came out as an advocate for McCarthy. Perhaps he's easily swayed and she's the one to do it?

That's not necessarily true - if we're truly in a military strategy, then you strike when the time is right and you have the greatest chance of success. That's like saying why didn't they launch D-Day sooner in WWII.

We will see what happens. But I think many people miss the fact that as soon as the VP becomes President, they can choose a new VP.
There is one important thing to remember about the President choosing a new Vice President. Any choice made must be approved by majority vote in both the Senate and House of Representatives. If not approved by both, the position remains vacant with the Speaker of the House then being first in Line of Succession.

But, as I recall, the House does not vote by individual Representatives. It votes by States. There are more Republican states than Democrat states.

The provision you speak of is in the 12th Amendment and deals with election of a president.

NOTE: We had reports last week that the Florida laws are being altered so that if DeSantis runs for the presidency and loses in the primaries, he will not forfeit his governorship and can continue on as Florida's governor; albeit for the remainder of his term.
Now this gets interesting; Trump to run for the presidency in 2024 with DeSantis diluting any chance that Pence has in winning the primary. As we all know and can predict quite handily, DeSantis will override Pence, but DeSantis will fall behind Trump and Trump will win the primaries. This leaves (traitor) Pence O-U-T, DeSantis resigns and lollygags back to his Governor spot and Trump as the GOP presidential candidate.
Then as a slap in the face to the RINO GOP-RNC organization Trump names DeSantis as his VP running mate! Florida was DeSantis' proof of leadership and worthy of VP status for Trump standards!
