I did have a O-5 CO that was a mustang from Viet Nam. That guy was the shit.
All the smart ones I know got out. A few were at like 19 years and took it just to get the retirement

They lifted the travel restriction on the unvaccinated DoD civilians, as well. They can suck it. I am submitting my deferred retirement package at 21years and 7 months. I won't receive any benefits for another 11 years when I hit 60 years old. Even then, it will be around $20k a year in pension. Not exactly a life changing amount.
Especially since in 11 years $20k will probably only be worth half as much as it is now.
The medical coverage, as bad as it is, is worth $1,000 a month minimum. Double if you're married.
True, but I have no intention of ever seeing a western doctor for the rest of my life. I definitely won't be bothering with medical insurance. The prices are way too high and since they are more likely to kill me than heal me, I'll take my chances with traditional Asian herbology. Of course, in the event of catastrophic injury, I will save enough cash to pay for a surgery.

I don't think the pension increases with COLA or inflation. It might because it is just a retirement pension account, but I am not holding my breath. I am not even really planning on having the cash come from the government. If it comes, great...if not, I have personal savings that I am building up, plus individual retirement accts.

As with any workplace/job that enforced this bs in the first place, I wouldn't go back without a complete overhaul of the management. I would want to know 100% that this kind of environment would not happen again and that nothing would be held over my head for standing up for myself.
Also, I'd negotiate a raise and better benefits (although this is the military, so I know that'd be a tough one). The unvaxxed are basically going to be the European peasants dealing with their liege lords after the plague blasted through.

Would you want to go back and serve under a government who forces their service members to get an experimental procedure (ie, covid vax) or fires them for refusing it? Would you be able to trust the military ever again? Would you be able to serve your country properly knowing that at a drop of a hat, you could be tossed to the side for your own choice of bodily autonomy and medical freedom? I don't think so.

My paperwork to the IRR was mysteriously lost. I was told I was moved over in March of last year. I'm still not in the IRR. It's insanity. Obviously not moving folks for in-garrison numbers, but they know that none of us are coming back. Fuck em and fuck their woke ass policies.

What is IRR?
Inactive Ready Reserve. It means they can recall you back to active duty, but you aren't actually in the military. You have no benefits. Everyone that joins gets 8 years of service. If you join and get out after a 4 or 6 year hitch, you are still required to have 8 years total. If you complete active duty at 4 years, they put you in the IRR status until you reach 8 years. After you reach 8 years of service, you have fulfilled obligatory service and theoretically they have no legal ability to draft you back in.
Ah.ok. I knew a guy that got recalled when he was around 50...
If you retire from active service, you collect a pension. There is a catch...if they need you, they can recall you back into active service. You then have a choice, go back into active service or give up your pension. When I was in Iraq in the late 2000's I ran into a Army Colonel that looked like he was in his late 60's. I asked him why he hadn't retired. He was called back into active service because he had some special technical skills that the Army needed. They wanted him to train other soldiers.
