the air quality in Michigan right now is said to be the worst in the world. For the last 2 days there had been a fog that smells like smoke and with a hint of burnt plastic.
Here is the alert posted for last 2 days:
Air Quality Alert issued June 28 at 11:24AM EDT by NWS Detroit
...Air Quality Alert in effect for Thursday June 29th...
The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy has declared Thursday June 29th to be an action day for elevated levels of fine particulate (PM2.5) for southeast Michigan counties.
Pollutants are expected to be in the UNHEALTHY FOR SENSITIVE GROUPS to UNHEALTHY range.
The action day is in effect for the following Michigan counties...
Smoke originating from wildfires in Quebec, Canada is currently impacting PM2.5 concentrations at the surface across much of the state of Michigan and will continue through Thursday, June 29th. The Air Quality Index is expected to range from the UNHEALTHY FOR SENSITIVE GROUPS to UNHEALTHY level with some hourly concentrations reaching the VERY UNHEALTHY range.
Sensitive groups, such as people with lung disease (including asthma), heart disease, and children and older adults, should limit prolonged or heavy exertion.
Reduce or eliminate activities that contribute to air pollution, such as outdoor burning, and use of residential wood burning devices.
Reduce vehicle trips and vehicle idling as much as possible.
Keep windows closed overnight to prevent smoke from getting indoors and, if possible, run central air conditioning with MERV-13 or higher rated filters.
Second worst. Dubai was #1. So, at least we aren't the absolute worst. Yet.
To me, I smell fertilizer or chlorine. It's not just burnt plastic. It smells like walking into a hardware store that lets too much of its fertilizer hang out, or being near a pool.
It did smell a bit different today.
We have some people who tried to gaslight us into believing it was just wood, but A) that doesn't make sense, since chemicals and plastics would be caught up in the fires anyway and B) everyone in my area smells about the same thing.
None of us can quite put our fingers on it. All of us agree it stinks of some form of chemicals, we just aren't able to agree on which kind.
Visibility is also fairly poor. For those in the back who thinks that the fires aren't happening for some reason.
Tuesday afternoon it smelled like farmers were out spraying. We have a wheat field right behind us that they’re waiting to harvest and thought they went and sprayed it to hurry up the process. Chickens have slowed down laying this week as well
I would get some extra filters. When we had the big fires out here on the west coast a couple of years ago, I had just done the change of the filters as we were going into the fall and the heat was coming on in the morning. I was astonished at how it looked after everything cleared up - it looked like it had been there all winter and it had been maybe a week.
I live in south east Michigan. The haze is low and obvious. But nobody that I know personally has smelled anything. Not smoke nor plastic. I havent been out this morning and today is supposed to be worse than the last two days. Ill update this post if I notice anything is different today.
I live in southeast MI also. I walked outside 3 days ago and smelled the smoke immediately. I noticed the fog and started looking around for the source of the smoke. I didn't see anything. Jumped in my truck drove to the gas station 3 miles away and the fog was everywhere. I knew instantly it was from the fires in Canada.
I then drove to work and was talking about with other coworkers, and they just thought it was fog. They didn't smell anything either.
Southwest MI. Same, went out early a few days ago and the fog and smell was very obvious. To me, it smelled like a campfire and some construction is nearby so I wondered at first if someone was doing a burn related to that but sure enough, Canada fires. Quality very unhealthy.
We're from NW Indiana but just visited Frankenmuth (MI). On Tuesday, haze with light smoke scent there that the three of us visiting could smell immediately upon getting out of our vehicle.
This may be a dumb question, but how is Michigan the worst air quality in the world from "natural forest fires" against countries and cities that just absolutely ooze chemical pollutants? Do trees really burn worse than industrial chemicals and pollutants?
Unless we should be treating this as an attack by Canada against Americans... considering these are probably chemical fires.
I just hope someone is able to analyze the chemical components and the effects of these carcinogens being inhaled. Most I’ve come in contact with haven’t taken this too seriously, but it reeks of something sinister to me. You know they intended on forcing the masses to breath this pollution.
Add it to the growing list of crimes against humanity.
Yup, jab the masses with a DNA altering drug then make them inhale carcinogenic air. What's going to happen? We should see the results in the statistics in 6 - 9 months.
Can we start a class action lawsuit against Canada? The satellite video above shows obviously these fires were intentionally set and it seems they are intentionally letting them burn. We need people analyzing the chemical components of this smoke as well.
I'm thinking $1000/day for anyone subjected to Canada's environmental terrorism.
Today will be day 3, I'm counting and pissed off.
I need to get out in my garden, I have a few days of work that needs to be done on my property and I really don't want to breath Canada's toxins while doing it.
I have no choice, I have contracts to fulfill. I have been working outside in it all week. Ive been in Washtenaw, Livingston and Genesee Counties, from Ann Arbor to just south of Flint along US-23. I havent smelled anything yet but the smoke and haze are quite obvious. Nobody on my crew has complained and I havent witnessed any adverse effects.
Canadian friends say the smoke isn't affecting most Canadians as the "fires" are in mostly uninhabited or sparsely inhabited areas. He also said he would put it past Turdeau to have done it as he is "evil"
This. My SIL said the same. She gave a litany of reasons for the cancelations, but I'd venture it isn't the smoke, but rather too many down pilots to handle holiday flights. So cancel most flights.
I'm upstate in NY and the air quality if at 169 - i.e., unhealthy. No blue in the sky, just haze, grey. Fourth of July weekend, and outside time if there ever was one. Will be staying inside and no bonfire this year. Going to the Adirondacks, but don't expect it to be better there. They are poisoning us, and ruining the farmlands at the same time. Expect famine by the fall. Death.
I think you're EXACTLY right. This shit makes my blood boil..."shit" being the cowardly/treasonous shit these bastards try to pull to control us, and not just the "shit" in the air.
Burns start in the right place to carry it all the way across the country, and far enough north nobody will get a look at ground zero. Ammonium nitrate burns with a chemically smell when mixed with a fuel, it could be used as an oxidizer to burn whatever chemicals (formaldehyde?) That can't burn on their own
Same thing happened on the west coast in Sept. 2019 trying to drive back to CA from WA and fires starting overnight on windy evening with ash? as big as my hand. Smelled chemical too. SF a sky was red.

You should take a whiff of Kabul in the winter.
Sun was red Tues at dead and company show deercreek
It smells like gary indiana in August in ohio
DC area is code red today for air quality fwiw. Lot of air comms going on. “I can’t breathe! I’m not fat my momma says I’m big boned!” Cartman voice

Damn how many Michigan anons do we have? I don't smell anything either.
Me too…. Macomb
Me to…Wayne county. Crazy smoke here last two days

Same experience as you just havent smelled anything yet.
NO coinkidinks..

Damn, I read it could be like that all summer as well.
I hope they get this straightened out sooner than later..
Fun fact: We have a satellite that can detect lightning strikes in geosync over North America (GOES-16 GLM.)
We KNOW every single time a fire is started by a lightning strike.
These weren't.
Something is not right about This Situation.
Live reports from earlier today.

Yeah. I've NEVER seen anything like this in my life and grew up around or near forest fires. This smells/acts/looks NOTHING like those forest fires.
Oh, and the chemical pollutants, errrr, WILDFIRE SMOKE is happening again, JUST IN TIME for the upcoming/extended July 4 holiday weekend.
This is intentional, folks.

Seems like a smoke screen.

Not to mention how this is blocking out the sun. Bill Gates' backup plan?

Probably allowed by the Commie in office Joe Biden.
They told him to shut up, and allow the Destruction of the MidWest

All your plants are dead. Sorry, America. Climate change.
We should be treating this as a military attack from Canada against Americans at this point

I didn’t see this posted..
I just started researching this today..
Ty
Trudeau playing Nero?
Very True. We got the best quality Raw Foods from the Amish in Wisconsin,. I used to live there, so I know how absolutely bizarre this is.
All the airlines are cancelling flights.
My son's vacation to see us today got cancelled last minute. Can't find another flight for a MONTH
That sucks, very sorry to hear that.
Thanks yeah. Haven't seen him in a year. Same with our grandson. It is what it is, but certainly inconvenient for everyone.
Adapt and move on!
This. My SIL said the same. She gave a litany of reasons for the cancelations, but I'd venture it isn't the smoke, but rather too many down pilots to handle holiday flights. So cancel most flights.
Gotta love the jab.

Oh wait, aren't there tons of ammonium nitrate missing?
Must be one of those coincidence's
Woah. Didn’t put this together but it has to be connected…
Is this where the 30 tons of missing ammonium nitrate went?
Kinda like those Canada fires.
that & racism
Same thing happened on the west coast in Sept. 2019 trying to drive back to CA from WA and fires starting overnight on windy evening with ash? as big as my hand. Smelled chemical too. SF a sky was red.
Thank God you can wear those n95 masks to prevent smoke inhalation!...
Oh, darn it.
Where is greta van doomsburg in this?
A few Days after her death Clock. Day of the Kings 2030 death clock start..
