There's a lot of smoke and mirrors there and when they won't submit their filters for testing in places that can be verified I don't trust them to filter the gross pond water I have that could be contaminated with agricultural chemicals and God knows what else.

I had a Berkey we used religiously a couple of years ago. Have since switched to various solutions from Sawyer, and would never go back. Night and Day taste and quality difference. I've used sawyer products with backyard pond water, to clear streams when hiking, to boil water advisories in home, and they've always worked, always tasted exactly the same each time. Amazing stuff. I no longer trust Berkey.
I have one that is ready in case it’s needed. Already have a large pond behind my home as a water source. But also have water stored in stackable containers in my attic since I live in a hurricane area
Buy spare filters. There are cheaper ones on Amazon that aren't bad. Any OG filters now cost as much as my whole filter did when I bought it 10 years ago.

I own a Berkey and drink it every day. I use BPA-free water bottles that have a wide top, so it is easy to clean and easy to inset ice. I bring my water with me and never need to buy bottled water. That is one thing I do to reduce the use of plastics.
Sadly, I didn't stock up on filters early enough. I tried to order a bunch a couple months ago, but the company said I could only put my name on a waiting list. I am praying the filters will be available soon. So sad to see this attack on our ability to get pure water to drink.
