Politics - Trending has "Epstein" and "King Charles" but its very fluid. A few moments ago, "Clinton" was trending in this category.
However, I really have no idea if these trendings are displayed based on my profile, connections and activity on X, or if its a broader thing.
Either way, I'm happy to consider these trendings as a very good development considering where Twitter was 2 years ago.
On the app, I go to the search tab. At the top it shows trend categories, first one is always "For You" then afterwards I've got USA trends, International News, Sports, etc.
Don't use the app, but this info is still quite welcome.

I’ve completely stopped trying to convince people that Donald Trump will be rightfully reinstated as President after I came across as a lunatic back in 2021 when nothing happened. Remember you need to actually open the global trends to look at them.
X defaults to showing you "trending" items that are related to what you've searched for previously.
