It's walking a fine line.Rebellion is normal, to a degree. I would be more concerned about peers than whatever is trending with "the kids" now. If you make something forbidden it can only make it tantalizing to kids. It isn't the punk scene, with piercings and heroin chic and a death culture. I grew up with Beatlemania, I am sure I drove my father crazy, but, he let me buy my albums and play the music in my own room, he only went ballistic on me when my grades were effected by my total immersion into the pop culture and "movie magazines". I think for a lot of kids their transition from childhood and make believe into adolescence is hard, and playing around in their rooms holding a hair brush like a microphone and singing into it along with an album (guilty) is a form of play that is harmless. We have to remember that we have learned to look for signs and symbols that these kids don't even see, all they see is the outfits, the other girls they have something in common with. At least it isn't Cardi B and Megan thee stallion. Black parents have a lot more to worry about with those female examples.
