Just stop with all this.
The left wants to ABORT BABIES until birth, and we should NOT be destroying other conservatives about a dog.
Disagree, OK, but do not pile on. Just say: I don't agree with putting down dogs, but it is NOTHING LIKE ABORTING BABIES!!
Agreed. Our side in general is so worried about fairness and optics. The left will kill their grandma to advance their cause and we're always worried about the moral high ground.
Exactly. The left is pushing trans on children and we’re worried about a ranch dog.
The dog is gone, there’s nothing that can be done about that. I’m not worried about the dog, I’m worried about the person who could potentially be the vice president of the United States, being OK with shooting a dog. Yes, this is a huge character flaw, and should be brought to light - BEFORE - she becomes our vice president. Yikes
I’ve mentioned this before, and I will say it again. I can understand needing to put down a goat, most people eat goats that they raise. I can even understand having an aggressive that is a danger to your family that needs to be put down.
However; the fact that she actually wrote it in her book and bragged about it, like she was proud of what she did, is a little bit psycho.
Having to put down an animal, I don’t think, is ever a pleasant experience. At least not one that you’re going to write about in a published book.
In farm country, we often have to put down animals. I have had to put down cats that are not saveable. Sometimes ranchers have to put down cows. My father in law had to put down at least one dog I can remember. The vet does the same thing in a different way. City people are to far removed from the land to understand this life. Not hashing on you per se, just informing you. Its not like she killed the dog because she enjoyed it, it was an unsafe animal that endangered her and her livestock. Would you not shoot a criminal trying to harm you?
I totally understand what you’re saying.
my point is…
Did you write a book about it? Did you brag to your friends when you have to put down an animal? Are you proud of yourself when you have to kill an animal, does it make you feel good?
The answer to all of those questions should be… NO!
I have no concern with people running a farm and having to do with they need to do to make it all work, because that’s part of farm life. Also, to put even more context into this sentence… I’m grateful for people who make sure that I am able to eat hamburgers, bacon, and other meat that I enjoy. Please and thank you 👏👏👏
My problem is - she wrote a book about it, during an election year, and bragged about something that would make most people cringe.
It’s almost almost as if… She never wanted to be vice president. 🤷♀️ makes sense though!!!
Yes, I agree with you there after thinking about it. She should not have talked about it in her book. I am less than impressed with her second term. She was great for us in South Dakota her first term. Turns out her advisors told her to not shut down our state.
A ranch dog that is killing valuable livestock and whatever investment went into them.
If I was a farmer, I will have this rule with regards to dogs: dog fucks around, it finds out right then and there.
Catch me if I am incorrect, but I do recall that if your dog or dogs killed livestock, then the dogs were euthanized.
This is a psyop, to see if MAGA has the balls to execute traitors. Many more shocking revelations of people to come who are traitors.
People will cry & beg. Their families will cry and beg. Can you handle this?
Totally agree with you.
Exactly. The left does all sorts of shit and we flip out over this.
Yep, I wouldn't make the same decision but it wasn't my call or my business. I really had enough the first day of all of this crap, just stfu about it.🙄
Nice puppy pic, but the dog was fourteen months old, and it was stated it was killing chickens. That is what farm folks do to chicken killers and egg suckers.
That said the dog look like a wirehaired pointer, and that is the inbred instinct of a bird dog to go after birds. The dog did not get the training to be disciplined around the chickens, and that is the owner's fault. She should have given the dog to someone that could use it for the purpose it was bred to fill, bird hunting.
You know, this is exactly it. There are people of all sides voicing opinion in this who have ZERO knowledge of farm/ranch life. Not a fucking clue. It takes mega effort to raise hens to the laying stage. 6 months. Thats 6 months of feed, flock management, predator management. Then you have 6-12 months peak egg production. If a dog attacks and kills production birds, That farmer/rancher is out all of that investment, and potential return. A production hen can lay 300 eggs a year. One bird. That is 25 dozen eggs from one bird. How much are farm fresh free range eggs? One bird and the farmer is out at least a few hundred dollars. That sounds crazy, but I raise chickens as a hobby. Its a big deal to lose several. That is why all raccoons need to be eradicated from existence.
My chickens are laying a lot further than 6-12 months. Do you mean free grazers that die due to predators? An egg layer should get you at a minimum of 3 yrs. An average of 4, and close to 5yrs. If your only getting good egg production for 6-12 months. Something is wrong.
Or - they are eating the chickens for food after a year of egg production. At some point that is probably a good idea, but I would wait until year 3 or 4 at least as long as you have an overlap in time for new egg-layers.
You could just raised the chickens to eat. There are some for egg laying and some for harvesting. Of course, all could be eaten. It’s just buying egg layers and eating them in 6-12 months doesn’t make much sense at all. But hey, to each their own.
100% agreed.
Not what I said at all. PEAK Egg production is from 6-12 months age. All layers lay for 5-6 years. You need to study up. Egg production for ALL hens, regardless of breed changes over time. PEAK production is in the first 12 months of production. Read before you comment
I don’t have to read, I know from experience. A chicken won’t lay more than 1 egg a day…that’s peak production. My current batch are going on 3 years and give as much now as they did at 6-8 months. I expect this to keep going till, as usual, 5 yrs…then it will taper off. That’s when I introduced them to the back 60. Be free little chicken! Let nature take its course. So if you have 25 chickens, you should be getting around 20-25 a day. That’s peak. If you have 10, you should be around 8-10 a day. I’m down to 6 currently and I get 5-6 a day. I don’t like introducing new chicks with older hens of I don’t have to. It gets brutal sometimes. But if I lose anymore, may have to. Of course these numbers are outside of molting and any situations where they get freaked out.
I have no idea about any of this, and I love to learn new things.
Here is my question.
Does the time of year affect egg laying? Say you are in a northern climate with cold winters. Do the egg layers slow down in the winter because it's so cold out? And then do they produce more in warm summer months?
Thanks in advance!
Time of year absolutely. When mine “molt” their egg production goes down like 75%. Also things like thunderstorms, random events like predators(dogs) disturbing them affects egg production. Basically, happy chickens give the best results. Now I’m in Tennessee, so my chicken coop is more designed for warm months. If you’re up north, you would need to invest in a more cold design. Chickens don’t need much tho. They can handle cold weather a lot better than warm weather. And in most situations, heat kills chickens much more than cold weather. Their basic body temperature is like 105 degrees. But if you’re in sub degree temperatures, might need some covered insulated designs, wind blocking openings, etc, and anything that can keep their water from freezing. Low 30’s is fantastic for winter temperatures. They love it. Keeping a chicken acclimated to its environment is important. You don’t want a 50 degree coop, in a 2 degree outside weather. They won’t come out. So if your those kinds temperatures on a regular basis, even 30 degrees may be to high. Go with low 20’s maybe. But keep a fish tank heater in the water. Windows and openings are ok, but be mindful of location. If they are around the egg nest, seeing leaves drop or bugs flying around will disturb them and could hurt production. That’s their alone time. 😁
Awesome! Thanks so much for all this advice!
We say we want ordinary people to run things, but we can't wait to beat them down when they do ordinary people stuff. I remind you that Noem was one of the very few leaders with administrative powers in the entire world to refuse to mandate covid restrictions at all. Now you all want to take her out because she put a dog deemed dangerous down herself instead of driving it 100 miles tonthr nearest vet to OD him on sleeping meds.
Couldn’t agree more it was gonna be put down either way. People are way too sensitive about it. And yes I have had dogs my whole life.
I call people who obsessed with dogs "dog-worshippers", because to them dogs are their god.
obvious distraction. u/#trap
This.
With everything else going on, how is there room to have any issues here?
Small wonder the left is always running dog stories. They apparently work.
-CNN in 3 weeks
Some dogs legitimately are dangerous and shouldn't be around children. This one doesn't look particularly threatening but who knows. I wouldn't have shot it personally but this isn't even the worst thing Kristi Noem has done on the record.
They are fucking eaten in China so go do that and drop this nonsense. If my dog bites someone, buh bye doggie.
she lives in SD! it's not that uncommon what she did. and the fact that she's 'telling' us ...think it's comms, and to point out that very fact, liberals care more about animals than babies...
I'm a Huge animal lover & would not be able to do what she did, but I bet most farmers have done something similar, and can understand such a dilemma when an animal isn't cooperating with the rest of the group.
No less than a million are killed every day and this is what is going to divide us???
Most are killed due to the misfortune of not being in a no-kill shelter while others are killed due to some kind of illness.
Yep!
Dumb
Btw catturd recently ran over one of his rescues
LOL, is this true?
Yup
Even before the incident with Smiley, Catturd has multiple social media posts where he has to take his pets to the vet to address atypical serious issues like snake bites, getting injured by cars, and having pieces of wood sticking out of their mouths.
Trolls are pathetic creatures, but I will give credit where credit is due by begging the question on why Catturd has such poor track record with his pets (said pets have more incidents than maybe a dozen other normal pets combined), and why Catturd feels the need to post about his pet's condition all of the time. Farming for social media clout?
Chinese Cook enters the thread in 3,2,1
Time to wok the dog. Brb.
Clever.
Tastes like……chicken?
Bad. I know. Deal with it.
Is that the worst they have on her? She put down a rogue farm dog? If it had been a fox or coyote no one would say a damn thing.
I love dogs, have several and bred several but there are far more important issues to talk about than this.
She killed a puppy?
14 months old is hardly a puppy.
Sometimes a purebred dogs training doesnt take. Sometimes a hunting dog develops a taste for that which it is bred to hunt. I own and train my own hunting dogs. I know what Im talking about. I try to find a good home for my hunting dogs that dont figure it out. But that home will never be someplace they cant run and do what dogs do. Fortunately Ive never had to put one down myself but if they were killing my neighbors chickens I wouldnt hesitate.
People who dont use working dogs for that which they are bred, should keep their fucking mouths shut (not referring to you Qtoad). These dogs are not your family pet that lives in the house. I have two of those too and the hunting dogs and the family pets do not mix.
A piece of cat turd defending a bad dog. Who cares. Raise hell about a dog and stay silent about abortion?
I had hope for Noem a few years ago, but her actions have not improved her image to me. That was before the dog story. For whatever reason, she chose to put the story in her book, so she should be prepared to explain it. It is not typical behavior, in my opinion. The fact that she killed her pet because it was a nuisance, certainly doesn't make me feel better about her.
VERY apropos!!! Krista NOEM better find another home...her days are numbered as a Politician...Just sayin'!!!!
That sentence in her book was to show how "TOUGH" she was...that is all!!!!!
wat
FIXED...sorry 'bout that...have started on a VERY Nice Cabernet'....It's Friday!!!!!
Enjoy fam.

OMG, my husband just confirmed this story - that she actually shot a dog and now I know it is true. At first we agreed with Kristy because that truly is what people do, especially farmers and ranchers, believe me I know, I'm in Texas. But how the hell can some one look at that dog; oh no you say it was a piuppy, and then shoot it.
IMO this is absolutely no different than abortion. she had alternatives and she chose murder, plain and simple.
No she didn’t. It was her animal and she has dominion over it. No body was pissed at Fauci until he killed beagles. Animals are not equal to humans, no matter how much better they are.
Those were sweet beagles in a cage ----- the other was a predator, killing livestock.
I've even shot at wild dogs ---- mainly to scare them off.
I am totally pissed at Fauci.

FWIW --- I just got some guardian geese, African geese.
They play the psyop game with predators ---- scaring them away.
You WANT these to imprint on you ---- so they won't attack you when they are grown. You can eat them too if it doesn't work out.
I'm STILL angry at Fauci
See above “Dead Puppy Party” comment.
"Dogwood"...I had to kek!
But they are alive and you have to take a gun and physically look into their eyes and shoot them and to me that is murder. change my mind.
with the head of your best chicken in their mouth.
.....and see the shear terror in theirs.
Dog never should've fucked around then.
Now, it finds out.
Who was the unluckiest one in the pen that day. But never fear, there were plenty more chickens and so Henney Penney went to work on the bread.
Come on.
This shows a different, looking older dog.

IMO --- people were duped by a puppy picture.
Did they Trayvon this story with a baby picture of the dog?
PETA complaining about killing animals is hilarious.
https://petakillsanimals.com/
I was going to post that as well. People think PETA is crazy, but that they are animal lovers that wouldn't do anything bad. Nope.
Well no matter which picture you look at, it most definitely doesn't look like the ranch dogs I've seen.
Boy do I know that to be true. I like the puppy bowl better than the super bowl and so do a lot of other people I know. My fiancé and I had a cat die that we adored and it broke out hearts and we have been adamant to not get another one. We are little ole people and don't need that responsibility at this point in our lives but I tell you those service dogs are literally saving lives just by coming to the hospital and letting people pet them. The one I petted was a golden brown lab whose name was Gracie, which was God speaking again because the cat of ours that died and left us heart broken was named Gracie and boy culd I tell you some stories about her. I'm looking forward to petting that sweet cat again one day soon but not until at least Nov. 5.
Oh that is definitely the same dog, just at a different angle. What a shame, a true shame.
