Blotted out the key details to avoid my account/address being looked at.
I had 2FA / MFA enabled. I had a 6 digit code. The app was attached to my TX and email. This is one of the earliest loopring wallet accounts and my crypto holdings go back 10 years. I am also fairly certain now that I did infact add a second guardian. According to timestamps In less than one second, an account update was done, 3 swaps were performed, and everything was withdrawn without my consent.
I believed in Loopring because they were working with Gamestop. I was wrong. I got fucked. Learn from my mistake. Don't fucking use it. I don't know what to use now. Nothing is safe. Buy gold and silver with your crypto before it gets randomly hacked.
I have read so many things about Crypto being stolen like that. Seems like if you can access a coin you can roll that forward to a point to where the original owner is shut out.
The longer the chain the harder and more energy it takes to maintain it. But if there is a chain, there is a log that can also be used to track you. Seems like a lose lose sort of deal.
You probably have pretty good knowledge of tech to have trusted... how can a normal person trust such things?
Yes. It had been discussed on the boards previously. I read constantly. I also change my codes often. None of the normal routine security stuff mattered. I could have created a new wallet and moved the funds around, I still think they would have found a way. I'm feeling pretty defeated at the moment.
Interesting thing is they are calling this the "Loopring Smart Wallet compromise event". That is an interesting way to say 5 million dollar heist.
Anyway, easy come easy go. I figured we're all going to lose something just like we've lost friends and loved ones as we get closer whatever lies ahead.
The attack specifically targeted wallets that had the Loopring Official Guardian as their sole guardian. In cases where users had appointed multiple guardians or used third-party services, the wallets remained secure, underscoring the importance of diversified security measures.
Cold Wallet. Fully Airgapped. Never record your key anywhere that can be accessed from any computer.. and don't even keep it anywhere where it is accessible. If you more than a small amount robberies could target you by forcing you to unlock and transfer at gunpoint, torture, etc... but that could happen with any bank account or gold or silver or whatever too. Just gotta be careful in that case.
That said. It totally sucks to lose that much money. I'm sorry for your loss. It can happen to anyone if someone wants it bad enough and knows you have it.
Or just don’t link your account to everything that gets posted in the loopring sub. GME sub experienced the same thing, a site created by someone they trust was asking them to log their computershare credentials.
It’s hard to just take OPs image and word on this, especially in the form of a call to action, when crypto is littered with scams, yet I still have all my coins.
And there lies the problem with digital value. Any kind of digital value can be stolen, erased or locked. I’ll keep my vote on the physical versions, cash, coin and bullion....
Wow, my condolences. I lost $35k in the market, but to outright have $90k stolen would drive me mad. Stay strong, fren. It's a lot of money, but not enough to make a life altering decision over. We're here for you.
Wow. I too have one of the original wallets. Not nearly as much in there as you had but I’m reading more and more about this happening. I guess I need to figure out where to move too.thx for the info.
Wow. That is awful. There is just no safe way to keep crypto in a 3rd party wallet I guess. You are taking this much better than I would.
Writing your on chain, private keys by hand on a piece of paper and sticking them in your personal safe seems to be the only truly safe option.
And on a side note: everyone please remember that a sufficiently powerful quantum computer running Shor's Algorithm can defeat all known public key cryptography algorithms. Once you've exposed your public key, you should consider your private key to be compromised. Send your change to a new wallet address. All wallets should be considered single use only.
Sorry you got robbed. Bureau is worthless, BTW. They just don't care. Years back got scammed via wire transfer for $80k. They were stalking company emails regarding international transactions...
These days, everything is physical, completely under my control. I have a mean, hungry pitbull with AIDS chained to a floor safe...🤣🤣🤣
I had/have a few hundred dollars worth of crypto in a loopring wallet on an old iPhone the touchscreen quit working on. Crypto crashed so I threw it in a drawer and forgot about it. I didn’t set up anything. Don’t remember the ten/twelve? words. Anyway. I should probably find out if it’s still there. 😂
Use as the main driver only crypto with privacy from starters, like XMR and not privacy bandaided crypto. If needs be to use Bitcoin: use a silent-address. Take a good note which crypto' s are loved by CEX and which are kicked of.
Know the difference between DEX and CEX and why a tumbler is needed in order not to have your funds frozen by those, not only ma,e stealers, but stealers of your fucking life-force!
KYCnot me by default!
(that said: research the word: Man, or Andros. Both are adjectives in origin meaning: those exhibiting virility. Money represents your life force i.e. virility)
Think of using keepassx to keep track of access codes on a SSD/HDD totally encrypted or inside an encrypted volume/container.
Seed phrases can be kept in a different way than just a vault. Be creative.
Never put your with your main stash wallet on a phone.
Strike is a Lightning Network app for use with BTC, not ETH.
Using LN natively is very difficult so apps like Strike have popped up that do the heavy lifting for you, but that comes with a tradeoff. Most of these apps are also custodial, so you are trusting the company that made the app to keep your wallet online and secure. There are huge problems with LN making it extremely easy to accidentally lose your funds. It is not the same thing as a native bitcoin wallet.
But OP's account is for ETH, so a totally different network.
If you fail to provide or if you withdraw your consent to receive Communications electronically, Strike reserves the right to limit, restrict, or immediately close your Account or charge you additional fees for paper copies.
WTF sorry for your loss fren.

Probably stealing money to offset their future losses on GME. Sorry to hear that happened. I hope you've got some GME to make up for it!
Yes.

Best way to not lose money in crypto or stocks? Simple. Don't invest in them.
...stocks are a lock compared to crypto...
...but I agree with your assertion in principle...
I invest in my family. Pups need primo kennel & kibble 4 life. Hounds can sniff out danger, sustenance, and a decent place to circle & lay down.
...you have a firm grasp of the situational reality...
As do you fren. Obligatory stoic howl. o7

Not all. Most!
There are wallets, and wallets.

very sorry for your loss, I can't even begin to imagine.
How about not giving con artists money for things which don't exist to begin with?
Sorry you got robbed. Bureau is worthless, BTW. They just don't care. Years back got scammed via wire transfer for $80k. They were stalking company emails regarding international transactions...

Third party storage, nope.
Defeats the purpose of crypto.
Hopefully they reimburse you and everyone else affected by this. Good luck!
Indeed. ALWAYS self-custody.
That means: Cake-wallet or equal.

Look at. Strike: Bitcoin I ain't no crypto guru, but that app is what a friend of my wife's uses.
You can say wife’s boyfriend it’s ok. It’s pride month be yourself. /s

Yeah, let' s use that.
Better option: Bisq and Haveno.
