Unless you are saying that early vote totals can show some kind of trickery, this doesn't seem to mean anything. You're right. It seems to say that the number of votes cast "early" would be equal to or greater than the number needed for a candidate to win. I assume that means if all the votes were for a single candidate. Either way, I'm still confused. I don't know why this would be an interesting thing to witness. They can't manufacture ballots after election if everyone voted early is my take. They also would have little success in shutting down polling places in red areas on election day if everyone voted early.
Depends on where you live for dates of "early voting" which we don't have in my state. Only absentee voting by mail or in person. In person absentee voting starts the 25th and ends Nov 4th at 5pm.

This allows the DS to add mail in votes to make up where they are short. But if a lot of Republicans vote by mail, they won’t know how many they need till after they’re all counted. Depends on if the state has a provisional ballot for people registering to vote past the regular deadline.
Some states allow people to register to vote and vote on the same day all the way up to election day.
