Founding Fathers never meant this to be a full time job.
Amen...don't forget how much wealth these people accrue while they are in service to the people...you can make a good living being a professional politician...term limits are a no-brainer...
1 billion at least in those 3 pictures
Something tells me if we had hand counted paper ballots voters a lot of these people would have had limited terms.
Or no terms
Term limits would also mean they would be working more and campaigning less. It irritates me that they win a seat and immediately start thinking about their next campaign.
Since they'll never, ever vote term limits on themselves, someone needs to IMPOSE term limits on them.
Yeah, with term limits, the issue is lobbyist. They can line them up before hand to push through their AIPAC policies to scope up as much as they can.
The corrupt will be corrupt with or without term limits - these people know all the tricks. I dont have any suggestions to fix that but the whole system needs an overhaul that is for sure.
I do:
To qualify for campaign financing, set a minimum of:
The most you'll get in the primaries is 10 candidates. That'll give regular folks a chance to be heard. Businessmen, plumbers, fishermen, x-ray techs, 7-11 cashiers, housing contractors, bartenders. God knows gov't could use a few outside accountants, too ...
Excellent suggestions! Have you sent them here

I think we need to uncap the house of Reps and go back to 1 per 10k. Similarly their wages would be the median income for their district. It would be cumbersome, but better.
I believe term limits would get rid of the parasites who see it as their ticket to fame and fortune. Mostly fortune though, money is their everything.
Trillions in debt, Ruin families due to debt, inflation, endless wars, can never get ahead, for us in Alaska our senator Frank Murkowski was in office for 23 years (1981 to 2002) he retired he personally handed Their Family right to own that Senate seat to his democratic daughter Rino daughter Lisa. She has had that seat for 22 years. Total 45 years of rule from one family.
We may finally get rid of her if we ditch Ranked Choice Voting...
I realize that discussion was not the point of this post, but we've all been seeing lots about "term limits," but I'm not sure that's the answer, for two reasons:
Only those with an agenda would take a job with a specified short-term length. No one truly qualified or competent would take such a job to begin with. Also, those who would accept such a position, and preserve their career options afterwards, become overwhelmingly lawyers belonging to firms. Do we want politicians to all be lawyers (even more so than now)?
If you remove the politicians' ability to learn the ins and outs of the system, you transfer power to lobbyists and DS bureaucrats who can outlive the term limits.
I'm sure there are other cons, but those are two big ones I can think of.
I remember hearing years ago, that people ran for political positions, as a way to give back to the community. A part of their Civic Duty.
It has been a career for way too long. In a lot of the cases, people that want to run, are not able to unless they are beholding. In a lot of the blue cities, one example is Pittsburgh. The last Republican Mayor was in 1933. https://positivelypittsburgh.com/mayors-of-pittsburgh/
There are ways to scatter terms so there is overlap to ensure continuity and we need to outlaw Lobbyist and DS bureaucrats. That is a key part of Trump and the military's plan.
yep, i read that years and years ago, that farmers would take these positions in congress and senate. do their time and leave.
we have to remember that these jobs are NOT full time 40 hours a week positions. they probably actually work 10 hours a week.
In response to your points:
Public service was never intended to be a career. If you stay in DC too long, you forget what "real life" is like. Treat public service like a stint in the military: you can go back to your old job after your term.
Replace the 13th Amendment, which was interrupted during the state ratification process by a war. The original 13th made it illegal for lawyers to serve in Congress. We need that to put common sense back into Congress.
In addition to term limits and barring attorneys, lobbyists should be outlawed. You want to give a Congressman information about your company/product/idea? Send them a letter. They'll get back to you if they're interested.
Public funding of elections and no private money allowed. And shorten the campaign times to 90 days.
Anyone with genuine job skills can temporarily leave and go back after their term.
Evil
Lichdom.
They don't wear it well.
Nancy. was good looking back in the day.
She must have Kamalaed her way to the top.
Mafia family
Maybe both, but i hear what you are saying....
i didn't recognize her in the first set of old photos. i did recognize FJB and Di Fi.
Maybe they should have been a tiny bit less the mock rats.
Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
We don’t need term limits, we only need one term. Figure out what length it should be, 4, 6, 8 years whatever and that’s it…
JFC, Feinstein looks like an actual zombie WTF
Fucking amateurs. The Dingle Dynasty is the poster child for term limits. Dingle Sr came in the FDR wave in 1932. Put in for universal health care every term since then. Croaks, then Dingle Jr. comes in and lives in that House Seat long enough to surpass KKK Byrd for the longest serving fossil in Congress. Dingle Jr. sat right next to BO when signing the ACA looking like Darth Vader without his helmet. That House seat is now occupied by Dingle Jr.'s widow (used to be a trophy but you can't cheat the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics).
My argument against term limits is…
Sen Chuck Grassley - Iowa
Fix the elections properly and this will not be able to happen.
Term limits is not a clever way to resolve this. Ron Paul is a perfect example of why.
Probly also throw in another clause - "walking corpses not allowed in office"
Late term abortion like what Ms Cartman wanted.
The amount of evil these people channel is clearly evident here. Why can't the rest of the country (blue voters) see this as easily as the rest of us?
Feinstein looking hot there.
I thought she looked already villanous when younger.
