I think that is fake news. Those drones donât have the range required for that scenario. All the drones appear to be operating below 400ft in the legal zone for drones. Data link range for these drones is quite limited. However they could use a cell phone link and the larger ones could have a Starlink data link. But they all look to be electric, thus their range and endurance is limited.
I am fairly certain that a lot of these areas being flown over is controlled airspace. Due to this, IF controlled airspace a waiver would need to filed to comply with Drone 107 requirements. I know I have filed and received waivers for drone flights in restricted area. I would presume there is a way to get a copy of these waivers, if legally flown, from the FAA? Maybe a FOI request?
