Cause & Effect.

Blowback.

You can't outsource manufacturing AND services to China and India, and do NOTHING at home except push paper and race to the bottom with razor thin margins on EVERYTHING, while simultaneously selling your grandchildren down the river and expect there to be work for them.

So keep driving your foreign car, buying your imported trinkets and going to your non-essential rock washing/paper pushing job where you waste time in bs meetings and don't actually produce ANYTHING!

C19 certainly shined the light on how many people don't actually work and how the world would keep turning if they didn't even exist.

This entire economy is a house of cards... and the people who DO actually produce are getting cornholed the hardest...Priced out raw materials lately?

You can't even side hustle anymore, unless you're an actual whore... and even that's getting squeezed by AI lately: https://greatawakening.win/p/19BGTPUYsM/owner-fire-sales-onlyfans-after-/c/

Yes, this is very true right now but this IS true just RIGHT NOW. Trump has changed more of the status quo than any president in history and the BEST is STILL yet to come. The effects of these changes take time to trickle down and be felt by the everyday Jane and Joe. There are a huge number of patriotic middle class Americans who have been saving every extra penny and making smart long term investments. When those investments pay off big they will be starting American businesses and employing American workers and ever American down the line will be paying less taxes. Most of us here know this is true but we are going to have to start learning what our grandparents knew: instant gratification is bad.

Wish they thought to teach their children. Then maybe we could know it. I wonder how long people have known it. Maybe everyone knows it after all but maybe the draw of gratification is too strong in some circumstances.

I try to do this when people are acting stupid at cash registers....I thought I'd get more strange looks than I do, but surprisingly at this moment in time, most people tend to agree... and thank me for speaking up on occasion.

Maybe I'm stretching the Overton window of "we're not gonna take it anymore" or something so they'll speak up too...who knows.

Seems "bullshit fatigue" is in full swing...on some level, it's a ray of hope...

What... would you say...it is ...that...ya do here?

Go do something...

It's very much, "Use it or lose it"...

Your brain, body, keeping up with technology at the speed of real life...

I don't think I'll EVER retire... it's not something I can even really understand.

I watched family retire from the force after 30 years...then sit on their ass for another 30 years...

I've also watched family work their asses off, saving all enjoyment for "later" during retirement (what I call the deferred happiness plan) only to have a stack if cash, the new dream house and new RV - and literally DIE 6 months after "retiring"...

I'll keep doing until the wheels fall off... inflation made sure we're all going to work into perpetuity anyway... some just don't realize it yet.

You can make changes today. You don’t have to go out and get a job, help your kids or go volunteer at the food bank regularly. Go build a new house with your hands or find a place you’ve never been and explore. Just don’t stop moving but you can still leave time to relax, just don’t relax all day.

The purpose of retirement is NOT to become a lotus eater.

It is to be able to serve others with your time and talents now that you no longer have to scratch for a living. It's far more fulfilling that working as a wage slave.

WAY too many people don't produce ANYTHING and therefore their only reference for what things cost is Walmart, Amazon, Etsy and dollar stores.

When you tell a potential new customer how much it's going to be, they invariably poop a little and/or think you're nuts, and swallow real hard.

Most have NO CLUE what a 2x4 costs...or even a crappy sheet of OSB. Then they act like you have any control over that... and things are WAY less than c19 when an 8 foot stud was $10.

It makes my blood boil some days...

I built my life on being able to buy and pay all my bills on less than 40 hours a week. I understand shit happens and we can’t plan for everything but if there is something I want I make sure I can pay for it in cash or I wait until I can. Most people I know have big houses and cars and live paycheck to paycheck. I save and do what I want when I want, easy.

What Grok says:

In the U.S., credit scores are primarily managed by three major credit bureaus: Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. These private companies collect financial data from lenders, creditors, and public records to generate credit reports and calculate credit scores using models like FICO or VantageScore. No single entity is "in charge" of credit scores; the system is driven by these bureaus, which operate under regulations like the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), enforced by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). Lenders and other institutions report data to the bureaus, which then use algorithms to produce scores reflecting an individual's creditworthiness.

Still, for things like credit reporting that consumers are not well informed on, asking Grok some questions about the origins of the big 3 companies, what if something happened to them, and the algorithm each uses is more informative than most lenders and credit card companies tell.

E.g.

What Grok says:

Current State: U.S. consumers implicitly consent to data collection by participating in the credit system (e.g., applying for loans or credit cards). The FCRA and other laws provide some protections, like the right to access and dispute reports, but explicit informed consent is not required. In contrast, jurisdictions like the EU emphasize stronger consent mechanisms, suggesting a potential model for reform.

Conclusion

Transparency: Partial transparency, such as clearer explanations of scoring factors and their relative impacts, would benefit consumers without fully exposing proprietary algorithms. Full transparency is unlikely due to commercial and fraud concerns.

Informed Consent: Requiring informed consent is ethically appealing but logistically challenging. Strengthening existing protections (e.g., clearer disclosures, easier opt-out mechanisms) could achieve similar goals without overhauling the system.

Yeah because most jobs absolutely fucking suck. Like when you can get a job you get treated like shit especially if you're one of the hardworking employees. I had bosses who knew what my class schedule was and they deliberately try to schedule me in a way that conflicts with my classes. Like work in this country is basically slavery and they try to treat you like a slave. The harder you work the worse you get treated. It's not just being worked more because you work hard and try to do better, All your other co-workers are going to sit there and talk all sorts of shit about you and your boss is going to try to fucking ruin your life outside of work. We need to get these goddamn illegal immigrants out of our economy. Matter of fact we need to get these goddamn legal immigrants out of our fucking economy. No more H1B truck drivers who can't fucking read English. No more immigrant no more immigrant construction workers no more immigrant factory workers. These are all jobs that should be going to Americans and when an American does get these jobs they get treated like dog shit in them.

On top of that, why would I put myself through that when rent on a one bedroom is about $2,000 and all the jobs where I'm at Don't pay enough to get the rent paid and all the other bills paid. The jobs that require college degrees all pay about $20 an hour and the jobs that Don't require college degrees all pay about 18. It's a situation of the juice just isn't worth the squeeze anymore. You want to know why people go on welfare and stay on it? They have to because the economy is fucked and government assisted housing is where they get funneled into.

She moved away unfortunately and has a new boyfriend now, but it's nice to be on good terms. Pretty much every other girl I've been with has been a one-night stand and not even by my choice. I'd pursue a relationship with a lot of them, but they all just end up ghosting for one reason or another. I'm lucky enough to have a good amount of savings that makes me money on the stock market that allows me to "boycott" work I guess. lol

And this is why I don’t understand how we haven’t reached the precipice.

DOGE is making cuts, but millions are going to SpaceX and whatever else Elon is blowing taxpayer money on lately. This is no different, imo, than Pelosi getting rich off insider trading. Especially considering the Q drops we have regarding average people funding Tesla as tax cuts for the rich.

We are hearing about investments from the Middle East, yet no actual news on how that money will be creating jobs for normal people, in normal situations.

No changes to the insanity that is health insurance in this country.

No changes to the laws that make it so companies don’t have to hire anyone—so long as they just say they’re “posting positions and actively recruiting,” they get tax breaks and government assistance.

BlackRock and private equity continue to buy out housing.

UHC and the big insurance companies continue to deny claims because they have a monopoly on coverage.

The judicial system continues to prove it is completely compromised.

We are almost halfway through 2025. What, exactly, is the military doing if it’s actually in charge?

I am in that demographic.

I see it.

The military supposedly has it all. Yet BlackRock continues to operate, as do the ilk that also control the board.

The Vatican has a new pope.

At what point will “the military” finally put up or shut up?

There was no game to play with either option.

Choice, in this case, was an illusion.

Thanks for helping to paint the ' ACTUAL ' picture of society . The TV and the manstream is a part of that PSYOP. They have a whole other deal. Imagine for one sec, the view followed by the Lester Holt Or Rachel Madow as your life raft. Sorry I had to go puke, I'M back. That would be the definiton of hell. Getting to actually be semi free, come here, take a ride, top down to the beach with my girl is polar op.

Working class skilled trade is getting squeezed by reduction of hours and “on call” only on site for bigger projects. They want you on a remote location but only when needed but you can’t take other work in case they need you. This ultimately causes delays and shoddy work. The skilled labor is not easily replaced and aging. The next gen is not being trained because you can’t afford to with the razor thin margins and competing with unskilled corporate rates ( Starbucks pays more than most starting wages for apprenticeships or entry) As we transition back to a productive economy this will be a bigger and bigger problem that began with skilled labor competing with those working under the table

We are a nation of part-timers. Congress MUST get rid of the "if you work 40 hours, your employer has to provide healthcare" provision in Obamacare. Impossible to get 40 hours, or even close to that, anymore unless it's a career job.

Where I work, we can't hire enough people. $31 - $34/hr for entry level low/no skill and we can't get people. When we do get people, we are having 20 - 30% quit within 6 months. Depending on the job, there is a $3000 to 10,000 hiring bonus. I just don't understand what I am seeing.

I know. If the work is physical, no one wants to do it, especially when they are told they cannot have their cell phones with them all the time.

I don't know how you can keep them beyond one week. When I worked in warehousing, if they lasted through their initial week of training, it was a miracle.

The non-physical side is just as bad. My office hired a clerk. The job description was posted and a copy provided to the applicant at the time she accepted the job. Because it requires customer contact, the hours of work, breaks and lunch were spelled out and the newly hired girl agreed to them. The first day she comes in and asks the other clerks if there would be a problem if she combined her lunch and breaks so she can leave early to pick up her child from school. They told her no, she can't, because they are rotated to the front desk to deal with the clients. She announced that she did not want to deal with people and didn't think that she would actually have to if she didn't want to, despite it being clearly outlined in the job description. Needless to say she walked out before lunch and never came back.

My experience is that it really is mainly the under-40 age group that has been doing this. Yes, it happens in every age group, but the under-40 crowd is heavily represented. It is so sad. They want to complain that they can't find a job, but from talking to many of them, they expect to receive a 6-figure salary with no experience and no more than 20 hours of work a week, with most of it devoted to screen time on their phones.

I don't want to give aid to my own doxing. It wouldn't be too hard for a motivated person. Sadly, I must decline this question. I got booted once from here because I refused to provide a link to prove a statement from me. The link would have shown my city and state of domestic domicile. I suspect the doxing was their motivation for pressuring me.

If you need to know the cost of living, the wage I stated is a good wage for the locale.

I am one of the functionally unemployed; I had been asking myself for years how many others are in the same boat. I would guess the real number is probably more than 1 out of 4.

All started to turn when we got that economic "stimulus check". Of course we all know that was a Trojan horse to diminish the real value of the dollar under the guise of stimulus and now we are seeing the pain play out in the current cost of living.

I don't wanna bash anyone but live below your means guys. Don't go in debt to buy fancy houses and cars that are one paycheck bouncing away from being out of your reach. Don't stretch your money thin. It's really easy if you start with this mindset from a young age. It doesn't take that much to live in an affordable place.
