At work today, I work with the gen public in greater LA area, I'd say it was almost 50/50 mask/no mask. My company still says employees have to mask up, but I've been refusing for almost 3 weeks with no disciplinary action.
I will say today was by far one of the best days in a very long time. So many smiling faces and up beat attitudes, yes the double maskers still double masked but that's their choice. Also a lot of people didn't even realize it started today and may have walked in wearing one, but took it off once they realized.
I suspect that as the days pass more and more will stop like the rest of us. Cali is RED, even the LA area, don't lose hope for us. Arizona will be the catalyst that fixes us all!
I am about an hour away from LA in Riverside. My district is always red but for whatever reason we went blue this past election. I agree I have a feeling we actually won. I am so excited for the AZ audit results.

A korean man saw me walking in the park without a mask and instead of making sure his is on properly, crossing the street to get away from me, pointedly staring or confronting me, he pulled down his mask.

If you come in contact with anyone who tested positive (in this case the test is always correct) you are placed under house arrest for two weeks, even if you tested negative (in this case the test is always wrong). Everyone is masked up outside, even babies. Kids react to an unmasked face like it's a loaded gun. Masks are seen as super effective like a biohazard suit. Funnily enough when you're inside a restaurant or coffee shop and sitting down, the virus can't get you, all the masks come off. Worst part is it's not really the gov that enforces this, the regular people police the shit out of each other. Kids are some of the worst offenders in this regard. I've gotten in trouble so many times. Instead of fighting to unmask their kids, the parents here are fighting to keep everyone around their kids as masked up as possible. It's really sad but you see kids playing outside with masks all the time. I've got several students with facial infections or rashes, some so bad it's reached their necks and eyelids. And no one questions it, my coworkers think I'm crazy.

was at a park in NorCal today with my kids. some grandma was there maskless with her 2 grandkids. she kept telling them to put their masks on!!! it's like 90some degrees at a park outside. took everything in me not to tell her she was a fucking idiot and a total bitch for making them run and climb in those while she sits in the shade maskless. saw another kid yesterday at same park in a hat, mask, sunglasses and GLOVES! his parents were maskless. fucking unreal. I live in Southern California (we don't call it SoCal) and it has been miserable having to wear a mask just to eat. Went to Costco and wasn't sure about the no mask thing today, because Costco has been strict from day one. 98% of the people in Costco were wearing masks. Most of the ones not wearing masks were elderly and a few younger people. It was nice to shop without the mussel and no one telling you to put the mask on. I love the coffee shop and my choices while i was here was either shop there or starbucks (i am not going to buy a ton of coffee equipment for my parents who dont drink coffee for the week I am here) so I was like i am going to buy local. So yesterday they asked people to wear a mask but never enforced but now its like they are actively asking people not to wear one.
I gave them my business before for lack of other options but now they've earned my business because of how quickly they want their customers to be back to normal.
I don't have any children but if I did, no way in hell would I let a school put a mask on them. I'd pull my kids out of school. You are correct, they shouldn't because their lungs are still developing. Ive heard of some pediatricians recommending no masks until at least age 7.
