Yes, I realise that anti-virus researchers are known as White hats, ethical hackers whose job is to discover attack vectors in computers and networks.
so they always know about exploits before most others.
Their anti-virus product is a result of this research and is the protection that you buy.
It's entirely feasible that Mcafe was a white hat since his company was formed,

I was wrong about the US secretaries part when I posted an anon pointed out my mistake, it does look like he was talking about spying on the Belize gov raiding his property.
McAfee was mad because the US would not allow him into the US Consulate. I think he found out stuff about government people in many countries from the laptops he donated to US gov't secreataries.

Going way back, from a distance I always kinda liked this guy. I never bought his product (Apple ecosystem) but did work with computers that did use it. I dunno his bravado was something you don’t often see and if it turns out he was working with the good guys, well I tip my hat to this chess player.
