The reasoning is not to be dramatic either. Highly advanced societies like our post-manufacturing digital one effectively go extinct the moment the centralized organization falls apart and the supply lines stop. See its all about food. See with a more primative society, like the Medieval Iron age 99% of people are farmers, self sufficient, and could survive decades without any government at all. They can literally wait around fending off a few bandits with a village watch while waiting for a new king to emerge and conquer the land, thus reestablishing organized authority. Even the US could have fit this bill as late as 1940's where MOST of the nation were farmers.
Today, not only does nobody know HOW to farm, they also don't have the farm running. Believe or not the 2nd is actually FAR more critical than the first. With a supply of food and time, IMO most people could get a simple farm running from reading a textbook. The problem is actually HAVING food to have time learn how. And it takes at least 6 months for a crop to come in, assuming you did it all perfectly. Which the modern desk jockey is NOT going to do. Not only are they horribly out of shape, but they don't even have the tools to farm with.
See those guys in the 1940s, even if they were highly specialized farmers, like one who exclusively grew corn, they still have a working farm, and all the tools and equipment. They would have MUCH easier time switching to a substance farm raising both livestock and a variety of crops, as compared to somebody trying to start a farm with nothing but the clothes on their back.
When the modern system breaks down, the grocery stores go bare in 36 hours. In 3 weeks most people will be out of food stores in their homes. 2 weeks after that most people will start getting desperate and extremely violent in their search for food. Raiding and murder will be rampant, as even law abiding turn to robbery and murder to eat, cannibalism will start to appear too. Give it another month and most people will have already starved and or killed each other, down to out rightly everybody, because after the first week of mayhem thins out the weak, the best raiders are going to organize into gangs and start hunting the preppers and farmers, destroying them in turn. Eventually they will run out of things to raid and die off themselves. So you might actually see a 100% die off in 6 months or less.
So the situation is dire as shit. The US central government has completely failed and no longer actually functions. The people no longer trust the system, and increasingly all the major network companies are going out of business from the lingering effects fo the covid insanity AND the new Cold War.
The only way is to replace the failed US government. The only group who can do that is the military. Its why Martial Law is the ONLY way.
