My daily devotional a few weeks ago ended with, "Help me to love others with your love, Lord." That's an all-encompassing love. It's difficult for me. I have remind myself daily that I need to pray it. I have become kind of emotionally distanced the past couple of years and I definitely need to share the good news and His love more than I do.
I just want to clarify something; "brother" in that context refers to brother in Christ. It is not refer to fellow human being.
Christians are instructed to hate evil and evildoers while preaching repentance and the gospel to them.
Scripture gives us the standards by which to judge, by God's standards, not by our own. And as Christians we are instructed to do so. Without judgment there is no need for repentance. Without repentance the gospel has no power.
God loves the elect. His children that are adopted through the blood of Jesus christ. Those outside of Christ are of their father the devil. They are children of wrath as the Bible calls them, not God's children.
Now forgiving the wicked and evildoers is something else entirely. As Christians we are instructed to forgive. Holding on to unforgiveness is a sin.
I was once a part of watered down churches that taught a one sided God of only love which lead to a watered down version of Christianity. Thankfully God lead me to a solid church (that never closed or had a mask mandate during the DEMpanic) and I have a much better understanding of God and His word thanks to the wonderful teaching and leadership there. My church also wrote part of the amicus brief that overturned Roe v Wade.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him and he shall straighten thy path. Proverbs 3 5/6
Its interesting you differentiate between the elect and children of Satan. That all started on the 6th day. So, whats the difference between Adam/Eve and the "beasts of the field?"

When John says "God is love," he is not saying that love is a quality God has in His personality or an emotion He typically feels. It is saying Love is who God is. Our outrage over the deeds of the people you mentioned is certainly justified. As for controlling your emotions, there is only one answer. You need God's grace. You need His power to do in you what you don't have the strength to do. Jesus was human while He was on earth, so He knows how hard it is for us, and He gives His grace freely for the asking.
Don't let the devil beat you up with condemnation for failing, either. That never comes from God (Rom. 8:1), so tell him to take a hike, and then go talk to God who loves you and is on your side. Ask for grace so you can obey His will, expecting to get it because all the promises of God are yes and amen to those who are in Christ (2 Peter 2:1-4, 2. Cor. 1:20).
God is with you, He is for you, and you don't have to do any of this stuff on your own. You really can win at everything in Him.
I wear a special "dog tag" around my neck. On one side are the Latin symbols for "Chi" and "Rho," as well as smaller symbols for "Alpha" and "Omega." On the back side is Psalm 18:2.
It is helpful to have the small weight around my neck, and to hear the tag sliding sometimes against the chain to remind me. I need all the help I can get!
I find that it’s easier to love these people when I see them as humans held in a trance. I believe it’s Satan hard at work. Love is the most effectual way to break the trance.
This is interesting. However you can love your enemy. Do not anger to those against you. Be patient. Love your neighbor. This is not a weakness. Being meek is not weak either. Knowing you are on the right side but allowing the other to make mistakes and learning from this shows their intent. When they are on purpose doing evil we need to stand our ground. Keeping the peace is why USA is in bad shape. American Christians are very weak. Me too. Diversity is their strength - they use it to divide and conquer. Out of the other side of their necks they say there is only one race, the human race. Brother means kin.

I may disagree with people and am bullheaded when it comes to individual liberty, but at the end of the day, I want the best America for EVERYONE. And to me that's an America with limited government and serves the interest of the American people by letting them live FREE. And no, not "free to choose Christianity" like some here disturbingly and ironically want, no I mean true freedom to live free.
The only thing people need to agree on is respecting each other's right to live and to respect consent. Everything else is semantics...

Have you started meditating? Meditation combined with ethical behavior & prayer is the only way to truly rid yourself of hate, anger, lust, greed, gluttony... You seem like you wish to/ are initiating into the straight (and narrow) path.

Your post touched my heart. Some days, I find it hard to love the people who want all of us to be hurt and/or dead. This post reminded me today to just focus on treating everyone I come into contact with the way I want to be treated.

Loving and forgiveness for our enemies is the hardest thing for me. I just remind myself that Our Father loves and forgives us everyday.
I fall short each day. But I know that I am God's beloved child and that gives me joy, hope & peace.
