Hollywoke is going broke. There is no such thing as a blockbuster anymore. Most new films are unwatchable garbage and even big marketing dollars don’t draw interest. The recent Disney bomb , The Little Mermaid, is proof. Nothing Disney produces is any good, and even if it was there are too many people who want nothing to do with increasing their bottom line...
Like anything else, film is not dead, it is just temporarily out of sorts because it has lost its mission...
I think we can look forward to the death of the old guard and the emergence of something entirely new...
Think back. The movie stars are the ones who taught that divorce was OK. They were all doing it. People got used to the idea of divorce, it was no longer condemned. Then people started trying it themselves, laws were changed, etc.
Movie stars were used to change culture. Bah Humbug to them.
Movie stars helped push casual sex and abortion too. "Romantic comedies" have done a bad service to how we view relationships these days.
and then, homosexuals were introduced in shows (beyond their numbers in society) as just the nicest people! OH those gays are just so nice! who could be against them??
Using nice people to introduce proclivities and bad practices into society; if the people are nice, it must be ok, whatever. Apparently movies and TV can "normalize" anything . . .
They don't call it programming for nothing.
so true!
I was thinking about this very idea. Growing up in the 80s and 90s I now believe we were gaslighted about divorce.
The media (and many of our schools) were constantly hammering us with “50% of all marriages end in divorce “
More bullshit marxism
The worst is the "no fault" divorce. No need to prove adultery or cruelty or anything at all! One party could basically say "I divorce you" three times, and the partner has no choice. The children ripped from their parents by . . . any reason or no reason.
Thank Ronald Reagan for that one, and for vaccine manufacture immunity. I liked the Gipper, but he really didn't think some of these things through.
Marc Wahlberg missed his flight on 9/11 // So did Seth MacFarlane ( Family Guy )
It was AA11
A decade later they were the highest paid in film and TV, respectively.
Great thought and reply. Thanks
I feel sorry for that young lady that was cast as the mermaid. The memes have been so brutal.
She seems like a decent young person, but damn.
Disney does not give a fuck about their talent today.
All about woke.
Nothing more.
She know what she was getting into. Her grandma told her to go for it.
I just don't understand why they didn't make it all black. If you want a black little mermaid, make it all black. Otherwise, it's really just for interracial relationships.
Great point.
My g/f was pissed that I refuse to watch it. I made my points. It ended with me saying, "Imagine they made a live action Princess and the Frog, and the black princess was played by a white girl?". What would happen then?
All hell would break loose! There would be violence and rioting at Disney and beyond. They would burn it to the ground!
But if you don't like the fact that they cast a black girl in the part of a white redheaded character as a woke pandering play, you are RACIST!
Her Grandmother told her that when she was a little girl her Gran mother told her that Mermaids are black, not white no matter what she hears
I legit like Halle Bailey, they could have done a lot more with her. They could have just as easily put her into a film where she fits and wrote new material. Instead they just shoehorned her into Ariel to tick off a diversity box.
Talent is dime a dozen. There are millions of unemployed actors.
Her eyes are set too wide apart for her own good.
Fetal alcohol syndrome
Like a gator 🐊 🤣
I feel slightly guilty that this really puts me off.
I don't care how nepo-baby "royalty" feel.
100%. Most people have no clue what you just said, but you are 100% correct.
You disparage him with zero evidence. So cool of you.
Mark Wahlberg cannot even pronounce intelligibly a sentence, yet is one of hollywoods major power houses.
And yes, a guy made famous by wearing underwear.
Me thinks OP onto something and thou protest too much.
He was a good looking kid. He moved up quickly based solely on that. The white pretty boy bringing rap to the "masses" {white suburbia}. They really don't care if you're articulate.
I'd bet if there's a video, it's him being victimized.
u/Notwoke is playing the percentages. Can't imagine a cabal hell bent on control allows many people to rise up in Hollywood without having the goods on them.
Mel Gibson? Jon Voight? And there are many others. Some we know, others keep their heads down for their own survival. Condemning entire groups for the actions of a few is just wrong. Its wrong when they do it to us, its wrong when we do it to them. You either have a set of values and follow them, or you are just like what we profess to hate.
Mel Gibson was "introduced" and you can tell he rejected it. His movie Conspiracy Theory from 1997 hits points we talk about today. The opening credits he's rambling on about current shit we are digging on. The movie opens with a shot of the TWIN TOWERS before 9/11. The whole movie is about MKUltra control and exactly what they do. It's unreal.
I don't trust any of the hollywood elites, for all I know they could be controlled opposition. Trusting based on public image is what got our country into this mess. I will stick with distrust until proven otherwise.
You say "condemning". I am not condemning the entire group, but I am very distrustful of the entire group. Remaining skeptical of people even those that claim to be MAGA is the best defense. Analyze statements and actions. I never trusted MTG and am being proven right.
Just b/c a hollywood actor says he is catholic, doesn't make it so. I don't put my trust or faith in any man.
I never said anything about trust. But notwoke lumped him in with the rapists, sodomites and pedophiles without any sort of evidence. I have a healthy skepticism about everyone in the public eye.
Thats all you got? I dont like Mark Wahlberg, I have never heard one song by the funky bunch, I have never seen one of his movies. He isnt on my radar at all. But Im not going to do the same thing the left does to us and condemn people simply because I have a feeling he must be involved. Your name may be notwoke but you are acting very much the same. Bring some evidence or fuck off.
So you are sticking with all I got is a feeling. Ok.
"LongTimeListener" hasn't heard Good Vibrations!?!?
He was great in The Departed. Just saying.
I am so glad you said film is not dead, it's just out of sorts. Film and TV are important in our culture when they are able to help people, not hurt them for money and power. That is the root of evil in the UN globalist agenda. It's not money, it's power over us they want and that is wicked stuff right there. They want to be God but they will not succeed!
100% agreed
I've suspected for awhile now that the reason entertainment companies can't produce original content any more is because no creators want to hand over their creations to Hollywood anymore.
Dune comes out 11/3 and the promo poster says : 11.3.23
Also cruise is apparently furious : his new ‘Mission Impossible’ premieres a week ahead of Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’ - the twist is Oppenheimer gets ALL (100%) iMax screens for 3 weeks, leaving mission impossible with only 1 week of iMac viewing. I’m not 100% garauntee’ing any of this- just what I’ve passively gathererd.
That sucks. Grr. I am super excited for both those movies.
Dune is going to rock!
Dune with a black female diversity hire playing the "father" of the French and father of Chani - Liet Kynes? The same Dune that has that ham-acting overly emotional Rebecca Ferguson playing the impassive regal Lady Jessica?
Much of the first movie was great and I can not wait to see Chris Walker as the Emperor, however what was done to Liet Kynes was cultural woke vandalism. It jarred so badly it ruined the movie for me
Ypu make great points, but damn. That last Dune movie was so beautiful.
I don't claim to know a lot about the film industry or imax. I've been to imax once to see Top Gun Maverick. It's an hour from me and we rarely go to movies. I loved the imax theater stadium seating and big screen. If more action movies like Top Gun etc were there I'd go more. The one we went to is connected to a museum/interactive for kids. They show more kid's movies than adult. In my opinion they didn't give Top Gun Maverick enough dates. That's the only example of movie I have because we don't follow the latest releases. I'm more into watching old movies from the 70s & 80s.
Until we get to the point people are arrested for treason all they are doing is following orders. They are telling us now it was not as big of deal as they claimed it was during the height of 2020.
They are showing us jan6 was done by them. Fauci is saying his junk.
They have to tell the public what they do and essentially they are telling the public they are the rulers and nothing will be done about it. Logically it makes sense. They raid only those who they are told and never those who they are told not too.
No one has courage in Hollywood. They too just act, they are actors nonetheless.
Hopefully the military does. These people are so self righteous and sick.
So, he wants to move from Holy Hell, to Sin City? One of the trafficking Meccas of the Western world?
Exactly what I was thinking. Maybe he's just looking for a piece of the pie.
Look at how well Top Gun: Maverick did, pretty much one of the only recent movies to not push some overtly stupid social agenda. Tom Cruise isn't my favorite dude in the world, but that movie was great and made me feel good about America for a few hours.
And it didn't have CGI ... CGI is also ruining the film industry.
Correction: Excessive CGI is one of the issues ruining the film industry, but still not as much as wokeness is.
Makes perfect sense. Rumor with Disney is their latest releases are "do or die" for them. I guess a lot is riding on Indy 5 making money. With all the lackluster turd bombs the last decade I can see why. Legacy IP's like Star Wars aren't getting asses in seats and toys off the shelves. Disney is probably pretty leveraged to acquire Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Marvel...and so far hasn't gotten the return they wanted.
There are a few people in Hollywood who still produce consistently good content (Tom Cruise being the most prominent lately), but ultimately, decentralization of the filmmaking industry is long overdue.
It used to make practical sense for the majority of movies to be made in one city (especially when westerns were King and could be shot on location just a few miles outside of Los Angeles), but jet travel, green screen, and the Internet have changed things so drastically that the Hollywood system isn't needed anymore.
Most Hollywood movies aren't even shot in Hollywood anymore (they're often shot in places like Georgia for tax breaks), so why even produce them from Hollywood offices anymore?
I think any profit from Tom’s “good content” might go to the church of Scientology…don’t they worship an alien?
Some portion of it might, although not before Paramount and the other investors involved take their cut, which is the majority.
No. The alien in question is Xenu, who is essentially their Satan. They loathe him.
Here's an updated color version of the classic "An Illustrated History of Scientology", which is a great tongue-in-cheek (but genuinely accurate) explanation of what Scientologists are taught:

And here's the Xenu story narrated by L. Ron Hubbard himself with some humorous pictorial accompaniment:

Leah Remini did a tell all documentary on Scientology.
Scientology and the Aftermath
I watched the first season. After that we cut the cord and didn't follow up. It was very informative.
Many TV series are on location in Canada and states that offer the tax breaks. Walking Dead was going to filmed in Wilmington NC but NC government cut out the tax breaks. I don't have a source to share. My mom's first cousin told me. He lived in Wilmington and his neighbor worked on The Walking Dead film crew. The only positive I see with shows/movies outside of Hollywood is it gives jobs to people in remote or rural areas.
@ purkiss80 - That's my take too. Notice how there is a point made that he is Christian... not that OTHER religion that has dominated v1.0.
Why are the gays going to see The Little Mermaid? So strange.
I'm a former Disney cartoon lover. My child in the 90s grew up on those movies and I always watched with her. Honestly I probably would have streamed the new Ariel on a bootleg site until I saw a review on an Instagram reel. One of the animal characters changed sex from male to female. I don't know if that's why gays want to see it. In my experience going to concerts gays follow certain types. Went to a Kacey Musgraves concert (country) and I've never seen so many gay men. Usually country concerts are country redneck or working people. Gays also love Carry Underwear. I don't understand it. I don't know enough about the new little mermaid to say. Maybe there's a gay character. I wouldn't be surprised!
They're seeing for themselves if there isn't any "kink" in it.
I was trying to figure out how to get James Woods and others to build a studio outside of Soddam and Gamorrah. Someone heading that way it seems. Wahlberg also stole my based shoe company idea. No kneeling freaks allowed.
Still quite a large variety of products to be advertised as NOT WOKE!
Christian movies and Christian producers are gaining traction. Thank God.
Well for one thing, other options are making themselves available.
they're smaller, and they aren't getting as much attention, but they exist.
Besides the internet, there's the daily wire producing a film or two, and I think Tim Pool has expressed interest in making films.
The big push would be alternatives to the cinemaplexes for people who want to see movies on the big screen, but the solution there might be for people with a little bit of land who are willing to set up a projector drive-in movie style. 🤔

No little mermaid 🧜♀️ for this chick!
Feels like he's into character, here. These "God" and there in their convesation seem off. Anyway.
They spent over 400 million in making and advertising the movie.
118m is a success?
They will need to sell a billion in ticket sales domestically and overseas to turn a profit.
This movie will hurt their bottom line.
Now, if Blackrock, Vanguard, State Street and Berkshire Hathaway guaranteed them zero loss to go woke?
Yeah, Disney can do this nonsense forever, but my feeling is.
Those asswipes cannot fund garbage into perpetuity.
It isn't profit. Of that $118m, theaters keep between 40 and 50 percent (domestically, 75% in China), so Disney will bank somewhere around $70m. Studios also typically spend another 100% of the budget on marketing, etc. So with a budget of $250m, a $500m box office would be a loss of about $250m. Those other movies didn't have a $250,000,000 budget.
The Little Mermaid bombed in the foreign market (read: China), and that is a huge deal because Bob Iger and Hollywood as a whole have been sucking up to the Chinese film market for over a decade now. The trend for a few years was that even if a film did okay here in the US, the studios could rely on the Chinese market to make up rhe difference.
Not anymore.
Is it possible that most of any revenue they gained from Black Mermaid, came from people wanting to know what garbage was in the movie? Like looking for the bullshit? Not too many genuinely interested viewers, I don't think.
There were a few theaters that were 'full capacity' opening night that are suspected to be Disney buying out the theaters for the numbers and to make it available for black girls to see (because Ariel looks like them and that's certainly not pandering at all, nosiree).
The studios behind Wonder Woman 1984 and that horrific all female Ghostbusters remake did the same trick too. Same reasons.
Don't forget Captain Marvel; I'm pretty sure that one only hit a billion because they inflated the numbers thus.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they also try that with Rise of Skywalker or whatever that last Disney Star Wars movie was?
They might have; wouldn't surprise me with how poorly it was received by the fans.
i enjoyed that movie. Shes kinda hot
She's not that hot, but she is arrogant, self-righteous, and better used in a supporting role.
I know this is terrible of me, but I've always thought that Brie Larson has a face for radio and a voice for silent movies. She is a plank of wood that just says the correct talking points.
Lots of people were genuinely interested. Lot's of women, especially. Lot's of black women and their daughters, too. Just not enough. Just imagine though, how successful the film would have been had they cast a girl who actually looks like Ariel from the animated film? This woke play seriously cost them. Millions of people won't see it because it doesn't fit, and so many recognize this is political pandering and are protesting it. I will watch a bootleg when that guy who did the deepfake does the whole film. He did the trailer with deepfake technology and replaced her with a white girl and red hair. I don't have a racist bone in my body, but we all know what this was. They did not cast her because she was the most talented actress for the role, as they claim.
Did he do the whole trailer? And if so, do you know where I can find it?
I'm thinking a larger percentage of black people because the mermaid is black. Also they completely changed the story. Also maybe the younger generation that didn't grow up on the original and didn't care if the story is changed. I know Disney is bad! However I always enjoyed their princess and Pixar movies before I knew about the evil. To me it was just make believe and fantasy. My daughter is 30 and she's got the common sense to know it's a fantasy. Maybe growing up Christian and in a stable family keeps you from getting sucked into the subliminal messages. IDK! As for me I wouldn't give my money just to figure out the BS. I don't have an issue with Ariel actor/character being black. I'm not watching because they totally changed the storyline and I'm aware of the evil at Disney.
You should have an issue, because Ariel wasn't black in the original; she was never meant to be black. It's a blatant insult to her and to her fans.
