Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way

Call the payroll company and have them do a correction check where they take out the correct amount of money.
yes, I think you are wondering how luxury motor cars are going to hit the market.
if people aren't driving them, then they have to get sold to someone so they can be driven, ok?
The host of let's make a deal is having a conversation with a robot. Not sure how it relates to the prize but more normalizing of stuff like that I guess.
Mark Dice never disappoints.

I did a little research on the website of the company who produced Sound of Freedom. Here's a link in case you want to know what to do if you see something, or have questions, or want to research.
https://www.angel.com/blog/sound-of-freedom/posts/sound-of-freedom-join-the-fight-against-child-trafficking
This company also produced The Chosen. The first season was on YouTube free. That's the best interpretation of Jesus' life I've seen. Some might not like the modern slang used. I think it might help younger people relate and get interested in Jesus and the Bible.
Thank you! I'll check it out!
Sure fren. Season three was released in the movie theaters last November. Season two and three are on streaming sites (not legit pay sites). It's also on Amazon Prime. I know it's not a good company but even they have decent Christian content.
I'm excited! Thanks!
Anyone have a skeptical or negative view of "Sound of Freedom"
I feel like I am the only anon not hyped about it
I haven't seen the movie to give an opinion. I'll probably wait for streaming. I think they will eventually release DVD if they do it will be available on streaming sites. I don't have any desire to watch something on this subject in public.
I've seen several comments either here or social media (not sure where). The negativity I'm seeing is Tim Ballard is associated with LDS church which is Mormon. I'm making assumptions about Mormon's, I've heard negative things about children but I don't have any facts. It's not a religion I can support but that doesn't mean they are all bad people.
Also I've read negative comments about him because he's x CIA. There again that's putting everyone in the same box. I have white trash cousins but that doesn't make the entire family bad.
Lastly I'm wary about any group asking for donations.
Edit: to add I believe this movie is waking up a lot of people that would not know about child trafficking, sex abuse and slavery. I was talking to someone at a family event last week and they knew about the movie and pedos. I was really surprised, she and her husband started a church. Most people I know that are dedicated church goers don't have a clue what's been going on the past three years. Most I know are fully vaccinated and trust the government and don't like Trump. These are white Christian conservatives.
I agree, I rarely go to the theatre and my husband goes less than I do. We saw Top Gun Maverick at Imax and that was worth it. I've been with my daughter over the years when she was still home. It was something we could do together and enjoy. She doesn't go either anymore. My husband has probably been to the theater less than five times in 34 years. Days Of Thunder got him out back in the day and later when my child was small. I've never seen Blade Runner and don't know anything about it. I'm into sappy pre 2015 romance (before it got woke with agendas), comedy and military or anything shoot 'em up. Older is much better and I'll watch something over and over before watching new movies.
Like Smokey and The Bandit, should have left well enough alone. Also the Hangover is hilarious but one & two are worthless.
I'll watch it. I like most sci fi. Walking Dead is a show I watch now when I need noise but not in mood for music. Supernatural is another good one. I prefer Series to movies but have some favorite movies. I'm in the south and love certain southern movies and actors. I don't worship them I just relate to the southern culture in the movies. The Choice, Sweet Home Alabama, Ya Ya Sisterhood are a few.
Here’s some off-topic magic relief for the most stressed ones: https://files.catbox.moe/r1ewqy.mp4
I saw some of these on YT. I forget the classification of agility or dog training they fall under but A-may-zing. I can’t get my dog to reliably “stay.” Can you imagine the hours and hours and hours....and hours of training involved in this? Blows my mind.
Edit-Oh, it’s dog dancing. This is so cool, sorry YT

someone suggested this ought to be reposted here (as well? or instead?):
Legalize All Drugs, Yes or No?
I'm kind of for legalizing all drugs, slowly, while also putting in place societal infrastructure for discouraging the abuse of drugs and to help people who become addicts.
I can elaborate on further reasons for legalization of drugs if requested; it is not however a top priority to me as a policy issue so I don't focus on it as much for that reason.
What do you think about drug legalization or criminalization?
I agree , legalize all the drugs , and let them purchase it, as long as they aren't on welfare or some support system provided by the people. With that said it certainly will stop crime and thin the heard at the same time. I also saw somewhere in my KJV that as long as it has seeds it can be used, (marijuana) unlike plants like poison ivy.
Ya , 1000 bucks a month.
I think the first step is to fairly categorize drugs honestly. I live in a legal state for Marijuana, and have used it illegally since , like, forever, but now I can grow it openly without being criminalized. I will argue anyone into the ground about how criminalizing it was a plan by the government to fund CIA operations, to bolster big pharma. I do believe abuse of alcohol is far more dangerous. It is obvious that laws against the other drugs, meth, coke, fentanyl, oxy con, heroin, have not done a thing to stop the use, it is a lucrative business as there are countless customers who are willing to ruin their lives and commit crimes to use. On the other hand, there are medications that have been classified as opiods, like tramadol, that have made life bearable for sufferers of chronic pain. I have been taking the same dose for 10 years, and yes, I am dependent on it, to move somewhat pain free, and I now have a physical dependence on it, in that case , it is addictive. It got grouped into that opiod category several years ago, but at least my doctor prefers me to not be bed ridden. Legalization would do one thing, it would remove the cartels controlling it, it would break them, and for that, it may be worth it. Junkies will be junkies, a sad lot of dysfunctionals seeking to get high, only to discover their misuse has led them to taking something all the time, not to get high, but just to not feel like they are dying. But how would that work? Cocaine stores? Heroin boutiques? Pain relief, when managed, does not lead to trying to get high, weed will give you a buzz and mushrooms have a therapuetic affect. If you can relax at the end of the day with a cocktail or a few cold ones, why not the same with pot? The problem is, as it always was, is that some people just want to seek happiness and feeling good instantly. Losers incapable of finding happiness, I don't think they should be just given that option, and by whom? The government? It won't work in the USA, too big, too much regional differences, too many already dependent on the government to support them. Dependence is a risky game, but I do not think pain medication should be withheld for people who honestly need it, chronic pain is life threatening, treating it should not stigmatize the person who needs it.
did kratom help (it is mildly addictive but natural and overdose unlikely)
and legal, which is a good argument for why other less or equally dangerous drugs might be legalized
Kratom is sketchy, and I would have to drive to NY to get it, it is not legal in Vermont. I prefer to go through this with my doctor, with a prescription. That way, if or when I would need surgery, as I did with my hip replacement, everyone knows how to regulate any additional pain med I may need post surgery, to avoid over dependence. Besides, driving to another state to secure a drug that is known to be addictive, known to cause liver trouble, is un regulated , is just too sketchy for me, I am 73 years old with end stage Lyme Disease, tramadol was used extensively before all the oxy contin laws went into affect, it's considered a clean drug as far as liver, etc, and over doses occur when you take more than you need. If I found myself needing more, there are other things like supplements, PT excercise, and rest. I take it because I am still holding down a job that requires me to not rest all day long, I want to stay functioning, my greatest joy comes from nature, and I want to be out in it and moving and gardening for as long as I can. With chronic pain, you have to accept that pain management is not going to remove the pain altogether, that is where people start taking more and get addicted.. I am not 45, I have a degenerative condition, I don't expect my body to feel like heaven all the time. If it does, I am high on something. I don't want to be high, just want remain active as normal, because if I layed around all the time , that would make me less healthier.
Define "drug."
IMO if it grows out of the ground it's not a drug and should be unrestricted.
Worth mentioning that cannabis and psilocybin are non-addictive.
Absolutely with you.
I would probably include heroin, meth, cocaine... any of these kinds of things conventionally called "drugs". It's often a personal responsibility and culture issue, not the fact that any of these are legal. It's legal for a 21 year old to purchase some "addictive" alcohol and overdose currently, but they won't do so if they feel personally responsible or don't live in a culture that promotes drinking to excess.
Personally I see no value in substances like heroin, cocaine, and meth. Setting aside the addictive properties, they are too much like the poisons big pharma hands out.
And as I alluded to above, they are not natural. Even alcohol is found in nature.
Do you think fentanyl should be legal?
comes from opium which is used medicinally I think as a painkiller and derivatives
comes from coca which is used to relieve altitude sickness
apparently used to treat obesity (lol?) and ADHD, although perhaps controversially?
actually a weird example as someone I know received some from a hospital recently (so apparently it's used medically?); I had no idea it was being used in hospitals. So I'd assume the answer is yes, it should be legal since it's being used with a purpose, and then yes it should be available over the counter, because why would we want to let doctors have the ability to cut us off from drugs we want and need for our health? The covid disasters have shown how dangerous that can be.
so again one angle I look from is related to medical freedom, but I'm certainly concerned with problems of addiction and violence related to drug trades
Something that is chemically derived from naturally occurring substances is not itself natural. Huge difference between chewing a coca leaf and doing cocaine -- just ask Hunter.
I'd argue there are natural treatments, and in many cases cures, for everything those substances can help with. Same goes for most pharmaceuticals (like fentanyl). Hospitals prescribe all sorts of things that are terribly unhealthy and just cover up the problem instead of fixing it.
If we can make humanity healthy again there will be no need for drugs that only numb the pain.
I am not dooming when I ask this:
If those in the political world would do the things that most Conservatives ask, or want them to do, and all the problems we have are remedied quickly, then what good are politicians for?
I am only asking to see if some think that our Uniparty politicians don't really want to correct anything going on in America because then they couldn't get rich, campaign on fixing things, go after our money to get elected to keep things broken, so the cycle can keep repeating itself?
Maybe I'm all "wet" in bringing this up, but as I said before I'm just wondering what everybody (who may respond) thinks. Hopefully it is understandable to anyone that reads it. Thanks.
All they want to do is Create a problem so they can CREATE THE ILLUSION OF SOLVING THE PROBLEM.
"Uniparty politicians don't really want to correct anything going on in America because then they couldn't get rich, campaign on fixing things, go after our money to get elected to keep things broken, so the cycle can keep repeating itself?"
That's why they hate Trump. Welcome aboard.
"Politician" is not a genuine profession. A person needs to have another profession, then every once in a while run for office for a term or two, then return to that profession. Anything else is corruption.
Also, we might, at some point, actually have a Constitutional Republic in the United States, which would mean a much smaller government, at all levels, and far fewer people involved in government at all. We need to envision this and believe this is possible for it to happen.
OU's softball team was an inspiration with their graceful win this year. Here is one of the young ladies and OU's ex-punter who recently married. They have a Christ-centric marriage. They seem very genuine.

Sometimes I get my hand slapped for posting weird military traffic. But has anyone noticed or can explain why a drone at 45,000 ft is so interested in something east of Carson City, NV?
I noticed it at around 2:00am EST and it had circled the area only about 20 times. If I counted correctly, it's up to like 45 now. Might be heading back to base now.
That part of the country is where the MIL does a lot of its research & development.
Not uncommon to see drones or surveillance aircraft flying in circles there.
Thank you, u/What-Me-Worry. This is right over my home. You’ve got me freaked out.
Sorry about that Fren. I don't often see drones on the flight tracker so it caught my eye.
No concerts, rally's, military equipment movement in your area?
Stay safe!
None that I know of. It’s not an extremely populated place. We are close to Top Gun, approx. 30 miles east of us.
😉
With the death of our leader we are left with a void. Who will fill that void. Does anyone know when or where the job interviews are being held lol https://communities.win/p/16bihxSsYp/media-is-reporting-the-qanon-cul/c/
Soz. The only cult I'm interested in is the cult of the nazarene. Does this mean I lose my QAnon Cult card?
Oh NO! I hope he cashed my membership check and renewed my subscription to Q! before the accident.
Oh no I didn't even think about that. Dang now I'm worried. Lol someone needs to get that sorted out
Bubble burst , can you check my pm? Got a weird message.
I didnt get any pms from you, resend.
No , somebody sent me one , I can't find a way to message the mods to look into this
If someone sent a weird PM, you just block them. Or report to dotwin. If its not on the GAW, it does not come under gaw mods.
Ya, I tried to block , but wouldn't let me, someone else reported also thanks
It had a block sign , but when I clicked it it done nothing.
I just received this intriguing pm from not my usual stalker. I am not sure what to think about it beside ignoring it as some kind of elaborate scam:
Sowing discord is wet Satan does. Satan’s gonna do with Satan’s gonna do.
Yes , that's the one I got , two similar names, and it looks like it has child porn links that I won't click on, looks like a trap of some kind.
It's actually not CP. They are just harmless pictures I had uploaded to my site. But this guy's a creep who is looking at some pictures of my teenage daughter with dirty thoughts, insinuating that I am abusing her somehow because I watch retro anime and build model kits. You know.. REASONS. The guy is tilting at windmills and is threatening my wife and child now, claiming that anyone who posts on this forum deserves to be put in jail. He thinks cyber harassment is his version of justice somehow.
NewbishBewbish is creating dummy accounts patterened after my username. I wrote that sarcastic poem a few days ago commenting on how he's being a jerk by wasting his life bullying people on this forum, so he's now wasting even more time creating more accounts to be a jerk by wasting his life bullying people on this forum. He's accusing me of being a molester because... I watch anime, apparently. Every time I block him, he has to create another account to show me who's boss. Remember this is the guy who says he will take 3 months of vacation and spend it bullying people on here.
Sorry you're being harassed, fren.
Have to point out though...this is why people say "don't feed the trolls."
Without thinking, you are aiding and abetting NewbishBewbish in his crusade to cyberbully people on this forum. Please delete.
I just made a verbatim copy of what I received but I edited it, don’t be afraid.🙏🏻
Thanks for deleting it. Because I had shared a few posts I made on my personal website a few months ago, he found those links and is making up rotten stories about me. I already talked with the other user he mentioned (ThisIsHowItStarts) earlier today and I did not think he would use that new account to harass others. She posted a warning, but I asked her to delete it because I thought it wasn't necessary. It turns out it was necessary.
Anybody hear any follow up news on East Palestine Ohio, like has Mike dewine done anything to help yet?
They did just finish up the NTSB hearings about it. This recently updated article, with corrections (wow, errors in reporting from the NYSlimes, imagine that!), was the most recent I could find. Nothing much on the results of said hearings, though.
My husband's son lives there. Not a damn thing.
Every time it rains he says the smell comes back because the chemicals bubble up out of the ground.
Then there is thus.
