I hope. All of the disaster things that have come up seem to show that having a 72 hour kit for every member of your home is a good idea (ie go bags). Flood, earthquake, tornado, etc... It is good to have something that can keep you alive during crisis & allow you to get better situated with the disaster relief efforts by any who are going to help. Also gives you time to potentially get to your other storage if it is available at all.
The Texas freeze should have taught all of us that at least a week or two of fuel, food, meds, etc... Are vital for survival if anything comes up.
I strongly believe that a year of food storage is necessary for everyone in your home. Granted thatbwas drilled into everyone my age in the area we lived in with the culture we grew up in. Most of the Individuals I speak with about it are glad they have it so they can help neighbors weather whatever "storm" scenario comes up. Very few believe we will be unable to keep caring for ourselves or neighbors for more than a few months at the most. It could certainly be thought, though there are enough resources in the rural parts around here that it can be made to work to help entire communities come out of this alive & ready to prosper again.
Having more than 3 months of supply is likely going to allow you to help neighbors or friends who were prepared enough. Sounds like Q team is going to do everything in their power to stop the need for 6mo+ of storage needs.
Food insurance. Never know what's going to happen: weather, health, roads closed, job loss, surprise expense, inflation, health, etc. Maybe you won't need it, actually you're pretty relived if you didn't need it. We have other types of insurance (medical, auto, home) and don't get upset if we never needed it.
Both of these will force people into the streets, make them travel when they don't normally do and long distances to check on loved ones.
