Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
I have noticed an interesting thing... I stood on the corner of a street and watched cars go by, and aside from the occasional older van, every single vehicle was either: black, silver/gray, or white.
Are auto makers in collusion to give us a bleak looking world? Like the architecture all being made as ugly and basic as possible? Communism
I notice that in parkings lot sometimes.
One ugly distinguishing detail is sometimes cars have this enormous grids of horrific brake lights outlined. They can almost make the car look creepy and reptilian, like with an evil grin.
Nothing at all like the charming design and personality of brake lights in the 60s, 70s...
Old enough to remember seeing many colors and styles of vehicles not long ago
You're obviously acting in bad faith so I'll just leave you be
Am I the only one that sees parallels between the shepherds in the field that night and Anons seeking Truth?
Those shepherds were told about a child, were told to "Fear not", and were told to go check it out for themselves. They did. Then they told others what they found. They told of the Truth.
Those shepherds were not the elite guys of their day. They were doing their regular stuff when confronted with the news. But they were compelled for some reason to stop and go check it out.
Those shepherds were told that the baby they saw was the Messiah. But they had to wait a whole lifetime to see that baby show His full glory and mission. But, every step along that path, the Lamb of God spoke of lessons in the language of the shepherds.
I don't know the names of those shepherds. But I know of their story. And it just seems familiar to me.
Those shephards had to wait 33 years to finally have all their friends and family understand that they were telling the truth. We just have to wait 4 years. I think we got a good deal
What a beautiful comparison my fren. God often works in parallel ways :)
I haven't read through all of the main page posts yet, but another death in Nick Carter's family. (He's from the backstreet boys) His brother Aaron died in Nov 2022 at age 34 and now his sister Bobbie Jean died in Dec 2023. She was 41.
https://tvline.com/news/bobbie-jean-carter-cause-of-death-nick-aaron-carter-sister-dead-1235103302/
Not a fan, or even that familiar with the family, but I've read the dad was quite the taskmaster / showbiz parent. All ties to the cabal aside (and there's talk of Aaron being aware before his death), those type of lare parents are pretty famous for raising crazy kids. Lots of substance abuse and the related consequences.
Rest her soul.
Any frens in Atlanta GA? I have a 3 month project there, I'd love to hear about good fishing or anything worth checking out while I'm working there. I'll be working a lot and mostly just lounge in my hotel but may wander around a little on Sundays.
Iβm about 2 hours out of Atlanta in South Carolina. I try to avoid Atlanta if possible. Big city with lots of traffic. Iβm sure there are lots of places to check into though.
I'm cool with a 2 hour drive to do something fun... I'm not going anywhere besides the weekend, my hotel is 5 minutes from the job, I'm guessing that traffic is tolerable outside the 9-5 grind like most cities.
Iβm sure the weekends will have a good bit of activities to choose from.

Jesusβ Birth Foretold Luke 1: 26-37 26 Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city in Galilee called Nazareth, 27 to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the descendants of David; and the virginβs name was Mary. 28 And coming in, he said to her, βGreetings, favored one! The Lord is with you.β 29 But she was very perplexed at this statement, and kept pondering what kind of salutation this was. 30 The angel said to her, βDo not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David; 33 and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end.β 34 Mary said to the angel, βHow can this be, since I am a virgin?β 35 The angel answered and said to her, βThe Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the [holy Child shall be called the Son of God. 36 And behold, even your relative Elizabeth has also conceived a son in her old age; and [i]she who was called barren is now in her sixth month. 37 For nothing will be impossible with God.β

What an awesome scene we have here. Not only is it the conception of our savior Jesus Christ, also it portray a young girl who is visited by an angel. She is initially perplexed by the how but ultimately surrenders to the will of the Father. How often do we as humans hear God but think, that can't be, or simply just doubt because the effort it takes and the sacrifice it would cost. Did the fact that Mary was also young, play a crucial part? Do we as adults tend to doubt the possible, simply because of what we have seen so far In our lives. Nothing is impossible with God....Do we truly hold this thought tight in our hearts. This Christmas i challenge each of us to spend some time in Prayer and ask God to reveal the impossible. We have all begun to awaken to the evils of the world. The impossibly hard evils that years ago many of us would have said are impossible. If the losing side can do such impossible things, how much greater can our God do. 2024 is gonna be a year in which many of us grow into those previously perceived impossible things. Will you step out in faith like Mary so our Christ can be born not only within you but within the world. Love you all and Mary(KEK ππΈ) Christmas
So I am gonna attempt to expand on the first verse idea a little and bring more passages into this general chat. The idea is that we all share what's on our heart as we read them. Let the Lord lead as we explore different parts of the good book. βοΈ...this concept will be every growing so please feel free to share your thoughts on how to improve it)
Probably gonna do these every couple days. Kinda seeing where God guides it
In case you weren't sure that the world was upside down, the Lions just clinched the NFC North.
Lions = Donald Trump. Comms.
I dunno, kek.
Last time I followed any sports even a bit was around the 2021 when the Phoenix Suns lost to the Milwaukee Bucks in the finals.
At the time I was wondering if it meant white hats in Maricopa were going to out our friends in Racine (allegedly). Was disappointed in the loss, but from a comms standpoint it checks out I guess.
I've kind of taken a backseat on all that since then, lol.
Browns likely to make the playoffs, too

Merry Christmas to all of my Frog Fortunate Friends! πΈ
It has been quite the journey here on GAW for the last three years. Despite all of our differences, we are still a family and I appreciate each and everyone of you. Everybody brings something to the table, and I love the interactions and people challenging my mind and my perceptions with deep digs or simple comments!
I want to give God all the glory for everything that He has done in my life in the last year. Itβs been nothing short of a miracle, pulling out of the depression and feeling like a whole human being. God is so good! Enjoy your time with family and friends, and remember Jesus is the reason for the season.
βͺοΈ Merry Christmas & Happy New Year π
Merry Christmas to you as well. Praise the Lord for his goodness toward you. God is so good to his children. May you have a magnificent 2024. β€οΈππ»
Thank you so much. God bless you as well.

Merry Christmas to you as well. Wishing you a joyful time with your family. God is amazing! I'm so happy for your blessings of good health this yearβ€οΈ
Apparently theyβre advertising for Tesla med beds on Instagram. After doing a little research, it looks like more of some kind of special mineral water that they have you drink, and then some type of a bed that you lay on for an hour. Not exactly sure what the bed is supposed to do, but they give you two more bottles of the special water to drink when you get home to complete the detox. Iβm not saying itβs completely useless, but it seems like some kind of of gimmick. Hereβs the link.
https://www.medbedcenter.org/
There are multiple companies selling what sounds like medbeds and lot of people saying they work. Not sure if they are scams or what, but tempted to check one out.
The Donald owns a lot of Hotel and Resort properties, if there was anything tangible with these Med-bed claims, do you think he may of had something to say on the topic? Wouldn't he have a few hundred on order and be in marketing mode?
Even though I am a Christian, Iβm all about frequency and energy healing. I have a Rife- and it works great. Iβm always open for all alternative healing. Thereβs so much more than we know. God created us as energy, and I have more energy, more, Passion, more foot workβ¦. ππ€£

Have a Merry Christmas and may God bless you all with much joy, love and abundance in 2024. A little gift from me, if you have joint pains and aches, look up oxalates because it is the no.1 cause of it.
So you went carnivore?
Had a great start to Christmas Eve until I didn't. We took breakfast to my granddaughter's house and an early Christmas present. Ten steps out the door and I'm flat on the ground like a beached whaleπ€¦π»ββοΈ Twisted my ankle it was very bad for the first thirty minutes. Took some meds, herbs, wrapped it and sitting in chair propped up with ice.
Hubby has learned how to take chicken out of plastic, take inside bag out, rinse, put in pot and get the gunk off top of water after it starts cooking. It's something everyone should know but not under these circumstances. I guess next he'll learn how to take chicken off the bone. Hopefully by the time it's time to mix potatoes for twice baked I can help. At least it was the other foot. I feel two weeks ago and bruised the top and left side toes.
After this year's ups and downs I'm truly looking forward to 2024. I've been doing research on the carnivore diet and I'm going to start that soon after Christmas. If you have ever been overweight and lost it you will understand this statement. I guess my mind is finally accepted it's time. Of course it's been time for a long time! I'm thankful we have a freezer of local beef. I'll update later in January after a few weeks.
Praying for each of you to have a blessed time with your family and safe travelsβ€οΈ
Oh MB Iβm so sorry. Bless your heart you have had a tough year. You are one strong woman because you just keep on fighting. Canβt keep a good woman down. Merry Christmas Fren β€οΈππ»π
Iβm so sorry that you fell. I pray for Godβs healing over your entire body. Sounds like a good idea for the carnivore diet, if thatβs whatβs gonna work best for you.
Also, I love your dialogue regarding your husband learning things. Please come back and tell us how he does. I think you could make an Instagram page out of this. π€£π
Thanks for your prayers fren. I've always been a klutz but these falls were because I wasn't paying attention. I was at the in laws Thursday & took off my sock to show bruises from two weeks ago. I started to put the sock on standing up but that doesn't happen because of my stomach. My mother in law immediately said sit down! She said, you don't try to put underwear or socks on standing up. It was very true but funny. My balance has been off and I've got to remember I'm not 25! I'm praying the carnivore diet is for me if not I'll figure out a balance with something. Jordan Peterson said it changed his life as well as daughter's & wife's. I'll try to find the video and post next week.
He's a good man! I was very blessed the day he walked into my life. The chicken cooking went well. He even took the chicken off the bone and chopped it up. He's cooking bacon at the moment for twice baked potatoes (cheating doing in casserole dish). Next we will make the chicken salad. He needs to learn anyway because he loves it and there isn't a recipe. Old school you put in stuff till it tastes right. Three years ago I would have done an Instagram account about it. I still have an account but rarely post or comment because of all the trolls. It used to be a fun place. I don't believe it was ever safe but I keep myself safe limiting what I follow and post.
Merry Christmas to allβ€οΈ Sending love and prayers for peace, love and good health to each of you as we celebrate Jesus. My ex aunt (long story it's my Uncle's 3rd wifeπ¬) always brought a Happy Birthday Jesus cake to our Christmas Eve family get togethers. At time there were lots of kids from one to about twelve years old. I plan to start up next year when my granddaughter is almost two. I truly loved this because having a birthday cake for Jesus puts it on a kid's level they can imagine. Especially since kids get so much for Christmas compared to the times when kids were thrilled to get an orange and new shoes.
If anybody wants to fancy up their popcorn during this oh so interesting time in history....here's a nifty way to do it (minus husks and unpopped kernels and whatnot). My MIL makes this stuff every year and brings it to us when they visit and we always eat it like we're starving to death.
https://youtube.com/shorts/E0dFJA5pXRI
I went to Wallgreens today because they were open and I bought two bags of already popped popcorn. Iβm making this stuff. I think Iβm gonna put in some roasted almonds as well. Thanks for the tip.
This recipe looks simply delicious. I think Iβm gonna have to run to the store and buy some already pop Popcorn - then make this wonderment!
Thanks just shared with my husband. He makes regular & Kettle Corn. I prefer regular myself. Check out the Whirley Pop Pot. I gave my husband one two years ago. He's become a master at popcorn.
Whirley Pop
I love making homemade popcorn too, need to get one of those! do you have a specific brand of popcorn that you use? many things have have tasted off to me since Covid, so I'm particular when I shop.
We tried several different organic or non gmo brands. Orville Redenbocker tastes better and pops up better. Tried different oils avocado & olive. Coconut and sunflower blend works best for us. Link below you can order from Walmart and other places. I think they have it in the store also.
https://latourangelle.com/products/organic-sun-coco-oil
thanks! forgot about Orville Redenbocker, will try that since the jolly time wasn't fluffy enough. the oil looks good too, was wondering if coconut oil would taste better
This doesn't taste coconut. I've cooked eggs with it and there's no added flavor. Unlike olive oil with eggs I can taste the oil. I have solid coconut (like lard) for cooking it doesn't taste like coconut but the scent is overwhelming.

π I'm thrilled I love daily chat best. I felt weekly chat had some positive benefits.
It did but I just feel like an entire week of "ribbit ribbet" shows there's entirely too many frogs in too small of a pond. It's easier for my autistic brain to handle you pedes daily instead of trying to figure out 7x as many of you ribbiting all at once from too many different lily-pads.
Same. Good in theory, not for me in practice.
It is important to check back in on the previous days post tho, to tie up and loose ends.
That'll be my New Year's resolution. Kek. Easy!
I love how that song sounds like frogs ribbeting - throughout the song. Very timely.

Best Christmas present ever from the GAW mods! Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas fren
On the run, saving for later. Skimmed it now and thankfully it has NO resemblance to Aqua's song of the same name which, sadly, is having a semi-ironic (but not ironic enough i.e. the remixes are still garbage) return to prominence with the kids. Yuck.
Sounds pretty cool. I slept on all the back to mine releases. Thanks for the tune.
P.s. I feel like I'm not making sense. We're out of coffee. π
Thanks mate, glad I checked back in with the daily loose ends. You blessed me with 3 hot links, and 4 if I remember to grab the Juno Ractor (I probably will!). I appreciate you dropping these more than you'll probably ever know. π
Interesting regarding LX vs AT and how it connects personally to you and your musical journey. Love that stuff. I'd figure as contemporaries they'd obviously been aware of, and influencing, each other. Based on nothing aside from what little I know of their personalities, and no formal reports on the subject at all, I'd guess they either hated each or were thick as thieves. I'd put my money on the former. π π€
The blackouts must be getting worse. I have had to reset the clock on my microwave for 5 days in a row. That mean's the power kicked.
No. It's just that the power kicks at least once a day now. Didn't happen before.
No. They'd most likely tell me there was a power surge. We are all expecting an overload and our power grid going out anyway, so I'll just wait and see. We are prepared for whatever this government thinks they are going to do to us.
Merry Christmas... DWAC has good news, stuff is finally moving forward.
I moved, my mail has taken quite a hit as you can imagine. But thank God my DWAC packet came in just in time for me to vote!!!

Seeing βGeneral Chatβ was like getting a hug!
In 1951, my parents were dead broke. But somehow or other, my first train set appeared under the tree that Christmas. Three-year-old me was struck speechless at such an unthinkable windfall.
Mom and Dad went on to a long, prosperous and comfortable life. They are both passed over, now. But that train set now lives in honorable retirement on our coffee table. And I think of them every time I look at it.
I want to live in a world where people can go on cherishing such memories. That's something worth struggling for.
Merry Christmas, my friends.
O or H gauge?
Merry Christmas fren :)
Merry Christmas, Paul and to all of our frens here and on pdw.
May the Lord and every deity shower us all with blessings.
May your parents memory live on cherished for generations to come.
That is so dear, thank you for sharingβ€
who's still dispensing redpills? going out of your way or just doing it as the situation presents? IRL or online?
i've been at it online pretty hard for months, taking a break for a bit. i do it IRL when i can.
Just told an elderly lady the virus is fake when she was telling me her Christmas plans hinged on whether her family was sick with COVID. β
So yeah, still at it.
I fled NY.
It's very refreshing to be in a area where people talk to each other, hold the door for the person behind them, wave & smile at each other, stop at stop signs & wait for pedestrians to cross.

At least we made it through the emotional phase. Now back to more important things. Like the global war taking place..the Great awakening:)
God allows the chaos so we can find where we can grow closer to him. I say it achieved just that for those that are willing to humble themselves and ask him:)
Focus only on the conflict and you often miss the growth π€π

Shower Thought:
Maybe the Change of Batter Q says will take place is Joe Biden for President Trump. This actually makes sense because It is only one change of batter. If Biden is taken out and replaced by Kamala Harris, then there will be two batting changes with the 2nd one being for President Trump on 1/20/25.
βQuestion of the Dayβ: What is one of the best Christmas gifts you have received?
My Answer:
I remember being a kid and getting a snowboard and season pass to a place. It was a lot of fun. I was so happy and thankful:)

πβοΈMerry Christmas everyone. Welcome back to daily chat. I look forward to moving forward together in Christ and growing in the year to come. I will be attempting to do a daily question to help get dialogue going. Love you all. Jesus Christ is KINGπππΈ
My dad ran the family finances, and was super stingy in general due to anxiety on his part more than lack of money. In his later life he seems to have overcome this, which is good for him.
Christmas was always kind of... A weird, anxious disappointment. Not that it was bad, or Dickensian. Extended family always came through pretty nicely and we had good get togethers hosted by other people. But actual Christmas at our house was always... Weird.
Don't have a great memory of gifts, they were always pretty bad, like a couple of clothes and a bag of candy or something. One year after I moved out he got my mom a weight loss book and a vacuum cleaner (my mom wasn't particularly overweight π ).
Best gift: my dad got himself an IBM PC clone, 386. That was pretty common. A big, expensive gift for him, not much for us. And the PC was the only thing the rest of us could use, if that makes sense. Most of the gifts would be like a set of golf clubs for himself (fake examples). I pretty much hijacked it and here we are.
One year my aunt got me Ice Cube's The Predator on cassette. That's probably the best gift.
Lmao. Hadn't thought about this stuff in years. I really can't complain. I went the opposite way and am overly generous in my gift giving, which is the best outcome I think.
Im new here, just found out about this site yesterday through my stepson...Merry Christmas everyone! In response to that question: I actually have 2 favorites. The first one was from my mom. She loved Christmas, and even though she was living on disability, and was as poor as a church mouse, ( apparently church mice are really poor ) she always bought something for everyone in the family....6 kids, their wives and children. It was never anything big, but there was always SOMETHING. One year, mine was a can of shaving cream. Barbasol, in case you were wondering. Honestly, at first I was kinda ticked off, but that only lasted a few minutes before I realized how special it was, and its been a treasured memory ever since. The other was from my brother David. One year he and his wife and daughter drove 8 hours to spend Christmas with me, and he got me a spinnerbait. One spinnerbait. From Walmart. Maybe $1.25 But this time, I had already learned this lesson, so I filed the memory in its proper place, and I pull it out and ponder on it now and then when Im counting my blessings. Merry Christmas everyone!
How sweet! Your Mom was a special woman who taught you well!
Welcome and Merry Christmas. Nice story. Thanks for sharing it.
Welcome my fren. My name is Ryan. Feel free to reach out if you ever need prayer or a fren to vent to.
What a beautiful share my fren. It warmed my heart to hear. Thanks for sharing fren. Merry Christmas God bless. Much love
Had a "poor as a church mouse" Grandma growing up. She lived across the country in a very ramshackle old farmhouse. Each Christmas she managed to send my sisters and I each a gift, always the same. It was a windbreaker, in last year's size each time! Being the youngest, I just had to wait a year or two then I'd fit in the one she sent for my next oldest sister that was too small! Love that memory.
During a turn in our finances, my wife gave me a note on a napkin reminding me of all the reasons she loved me & was grateful God brought us together.
I have it framed & see it every day.
This is based and on Q. I keep a note like that from a hotel memo pad. that is the best gift :)
I don't remember the gifts so much, except for God's own Son. That gift lives on still for me.
I remember many a fun card game with loved ones and laughter. Even playing solitaire nowadays brings the smile from my heart of those memories.
A Bible the Christmas after graduation from HS. Read the whole thing over the next two years. It impacted the course of my life.

πFirst Verseπ
A person may think their own ways are right, but the Lord weighs the heart. Proverbs 21:2
