Federal reserve (not a USA agency) creates money out of thin air, rents said money to banks at 1,2,3, %, said banks rents the same money to the public at 7, 8, 9, 10, ect. %. Maybe the savings is coming from the fact that people don't write checks anymore? We own a business and go for months without a check. We have very stringent criteria for accepting a check since they are forged so many times. Even with all that, we still have had a forgery. So.... maybe their "crack down" success comes from the fact that people use debit cards and credit cards instead of checks!!!
