Pretty sure the Dem Convention can throw in a candidate at the last minute and since the Dem voters there are their representatives, they will select someone other than Xiden. I may be wrong but the President elect can choose his VP and later withdraw and leave the VP as the viable candidate. Laws never meant anything to Dems or they wouldn't have committed treason with all the fake ballots!

This might turn into a Trump versus Kennedy election. Kennedy is going to soak up a lot of votes if Biden drops out, but doubtful he'll get anywhere near Trump.
States don't have to change the laws, the Delegates can vote for whomever they want. Republican rules bind them to the first Ballot, but there could be a situation where none of the candidates have the majority. The second round they can vote for anyone, whether they ran in the primary or not.
