This Irish immigrant eventually owned a large sugar plantation with nearly 200 African slaves.
And what did this British subject do when England was debating the end to slavery in the 1830s? He returned several times to lobby against it. And when England did end slavery he returned to Ireland, convinced Irish immigrants to return to Jamaica with him and then enslaved them.
