While I find sexual assault abhorrent, I also believe in people being free when they have done their sentencing. Signs such as these just promotes vigilantism, and puts unnecessary fear into the neighborhood.
Agreed, if we had a working criminal justice system people would be behind bars if guilty and, once out, should be free to resume thief citizen lives. Unfortunately, the justice system is criminal...
Back when I was a child, if a man was convicted of rape or child perversion, he was executed.
While I believe in "innocent until proven guilty". I also believe that once guilt has been proven, the court needs to realize that the criminal has had his turn with justice and now the victims needs have to be met. Pedophiles, serial killers, etc. cannot be cured by jail or psychotherapy. Put them to death so that the victim and or victims' families never has to worry again.
We also had that father who wasn’t convicted after killing the man who molested his child. That would never happen now. Louisiana used to be based in that regard but our politicians seem to generally be on the corrupt side. ?
In the old days when most of our politicians were corrupt, criminals got what was coming to them and the police were respected. Now, politicians are still corrupt but criminals get a slap on the wrist and the police are villified.
This right here is the problem. The REAL pedos... the ones that are a danger to our children shouldn't be running around on the dam streets. The leftists have screwed up the justice system so bad that they are free... see look we have a registry. What a total crock.
When we add to the equation that tons of people end up on those lists for stupid bullshit like drunk college student urinating in public and he ends up on the registry? That's just fucking stupid.
Can you just imagine a sign like this getting some guys rental house burned to the ground and that's why he's on the registry... he was peeing in public so drunk he could barely stand and just because a teenage girl happened to be nearby they charge him with something so stupid it defies all common sense... why? Because he's a strait white male. Get it? They are trying to use us as a defense shield to hide pedos.
I wonder if there could be a sort of system for randomly selected peer 'jury duty' for those about to be released instead of trusting that incredibly important decision to a judge or a panel of politicians.
Idk but I feel like some sort of public service involvement would help regulate and solve the recidivism and repeat offender rates.
IMHO, the actual/REAL people among us for whom the term "Sexually Dangerous/Highly likely to reoffend/escalate" almost never seem to get jammed like this. For one thing, if they're "still dangerous" that means that the "rehabilitation" is and always was a not so polite fiction irrespective of the offense. And those who are actually guilty/dangerous in that sense and proven it by their actions should NEVER be part of a discussion regarding what to do with them/about them in The Community...because they should never actually get out.
But that would endanger both the industry they've created (caseworkers, information filing and retrieval for CORI/NICS/Sex Offender Database Tracking Systems), the legislative schemes they've created and funded with your tax dollars AND a continuing justification to put all the rest of us under Investigation Eternal in the exercise of OUR rights...because they put dangerous people among us specifically to justify the infringements on everyone ELSE'S rights (after all, we have to make sure that YOU aren't as tainted as the guy we let out in YOUR neighborhood and probably got a job as a counselor now that he's ALMOST cured).
If anyone ever made the mistake of putting me in charge this wouldn't even be a question.... because if someone was actually convicted of an offense of THIS nature-and I don't mean 17 year old with a 16 year old sexual partner or a drunk taking a leak behind a building and a dumpster, the only question would be Is It Life or Is It Death? Either way the idea of any of them winding up In The Wild again would be a moot point.
Yes, if the science is settled on the recidivism, then the person would still be behind bars or under forced treatment. If a person is let free, he/she is free. Everything else is a slippery slope.
I agree. If the sentences being doled out to these people are not adequate, then reform that for tougher sentencing. Don't give them Mickey Mouse sentences, then persecute them for the rest of their lives.
There are also false convictions; if you've spent time around the punishment system called the justice system it becomes clear. Also there are a few Romeo and Juliet cases (one Alaska case I read about treats ago involved 2 16-year olds who married, the poor guy was ineligible for tons of jobs) that shouldn't qualify. But change the law to punish the real ones according to law, not this scarlet letter stuff. I mean if the law says they live on an island or stay in prison longer, then everybody convicted after that time does it.
I hope more people have walked away from a life of bad choices, relocated, re-identified, and started anew, a solid member of society......always hoped that option would be on the table if the need ever arose.
Not really - there's a high end neighborhood near me where million dollar homes are typical. Gated. Guess who they are locking themselves in with? A ton of convicted pedos.
Hate to break it to you, but in certain high end parts of CA they do move into pedo neighborhoods. ALL. THE. TIME. We have maps online.
Kinda weird really. Like people don't care? Though....kids around here live a rather unfortunate life of being always watched/guarded. Kinda tragic. We used to be free as kids, but...too many pedos now.
Downright dangerous to be a kid these past few decades really.
Keeping in mind that I am in So Cal - land of prolific pedophiles - you could check any high end real estate area and you'd find a boatload of pedos. Sometimes the more expensive the real estate, the more rapists of children you would find. Sick old world about to come to an abrupt end.
Goodbye pedos - if you are reading this and you are a child rapist you should know that your life is nearly over. Repent.
Awful - and now we understand WHY over the past few decades pedophiles were allowed to increase in number. WHY they kept being released from prison. It's a network.
Not in favor of it. Although I believe that the crime is despicable, people can change and are forgiven by God. Let them lead their lives and leave the judging to God.
Yes. I am aware. But if the effort is to provide awareness and draw negative attention to the deviant, which do you think would be more alarming for the neighbors? Especially with children in the area?
Depends on the crime. There are some pretty trivial things that can get you marked as a sexual predator.
Statutory rape between people of very similar ages, which usually means a parent got pissed off that their kid was having sex.
Sexual harassment charges for stupid stuff. I knew a guy that got threatened with charges in high school for sticking his tongue out at a girl.
I don't want to protect the actual bad guys but there is a lot of BS that goes on in this area too, much like veterans being put on watch lists or whatever to take their gun rights away.
The problem I have with this is that those who do try to reform are essentially not going to be allowed to reform. We don't want to continue persecuting them for crimes for which the sentences have already been served. We want them to QUIT DOING IT!! They will fall back into it if at every moment of every day they are reminded that is who they are. Oh, and just in case they don't quit, that's one of the things concealed carry is good for.
Here in Alabama they flirted with the idea of putting a special tag on the car of every sex offender in the state. It didn't pass but it was discussed.
There also should be a really big one replacing that sign on the hill in Hollywood.
Creating memes of your idea would be superb!
Do they make one big enough for all of the names? kek
Bet you won’t see one in Broward County. Unless it’s in front if Scott Israel’s house.
We have a legal system, not a justice system.
Jeeze. Sobering but true

In Iran?
Louisiana

True, and our Governor totally sold out to the plandemic joke too. Disgraceful that anyone south of the Mason Dixon line had mask mandates, etc ?
100% this.

So many layers to this non-sense.
I wonder if there could be a sort of system for randomly selected peer 'jury duty' for those about to be released instead of trusting that incredibly important decision to a judge or a panel of politicians.

Courts earn money on every case. Every case has a 1040 section nobody likes to admit.
Recidivism is how they keep getting paid. I know I'm being vague, but they makes tons of money. It's a business.

Yes, another slippery slope....George Washington, convicted White Supremacism, lives here.
Thomas Jefferson, convicted domestic terrorist, lives here.
Even for a crime with serial behavior? High percentage of repeat offenders.

Science settled??? Muhahahahahahajaha science isn't sttlednon shit. Bullshit religion.

sadly theyve come to be needed. there's many that do not stop, its a matter of when they get caught again.
they deserve biblical punishment especially when I comes to preying on kids. many prey on single mothers
Yep. I investigated crimes like this.
I hope more people have walked away from a life of bad choices, relocated, re-identified, and started anew, a solid member of society......always hoped that option would be on the table if the need ever arose.
My only disagreement is it lowers the property values of innocent neighbors.
Not really - there's a high end neighborhood near me where million dollar homes are typical. Gated. Guess who they are locking themselves in with? A ton of convicted pedos.

I liked him in Big Lebowski.
"because this isn't 'Nam, this is bowling, there are rules."
You know Dude, I myself dabbled in pacifism once. Not in Nam of course.
"...say what you will about the tenets of National socialism Dude, at least it's an ethos."
I agree there should be one on the whitehouse lawn
Not John Goodman!
Not in favor of it. Although I believe that the crime is despicable, people can change and are forgiven by God. Let them lead their lives and leave the judging to God.
They should do this for pedos too
Uh... That's what Sexual Predator covers.
Uh, yeah. But isn’t a pedo a worse form of sexual predator. Why not just put ‘bad person’ on the sign then?
There's like no other offense under that category except sexual battery against an incapacitated person.
https://www.goldmanwetzel.com/blog/sexual-offender-sexual-predator-difference/
lol a pedo is a sexual predator.
Yes. I am aware. But if the effort is to provide awareness and draw negative attention to the deviant, which do you think would be more alarming for the neighbors? Especially with children in the area?

Only the one in front of the white house would say protected instead of convicted.
Not really a fan of this. They need to be prosecuted and serve appropriate sentences. Then they should be free as anyone else who has done their time.
Or just send them all to the gallows
I don't think the sign should be there in a neighborhood.
Can't see all that text from the main road. Lets have a font size double up. And perhaps a rotating light for the house.
they're needed, ive come across rentals that pedos own that look for single mothers with kids.
My first reaction was, absolutely. Second was my awakened reaction of all the possibilities this could be used wrongfully by evil.
What if you are wrongly accused? Does your family suffer social embarrassment?
Isn't doxxing illegal?
That's a fuckin-A ditty-bag Shipmate right there!

Que the Roseanne intro
Under a fair and clean justice system, where there are zero wrongful convictions and no doubt of guilt, I'm all for something like this.
Under a "Me Too" movement society filled with Amber Heard types? I'm not so sure.
Wouldn’t want to live in the blue house next door!
If he is that dangerous, hire that kid from Kenosha
too little too late. I would be more impressed to see it outside an Epstein mansion a few years ago.
GO FLORIDA!!!!! Rub some of that based republican goodness onto our state please. Indiana needs more red.
Not these signs, of course, just political red. :)
Why do they live outside a prison?
I don't know of many pedophiles that are cured after their prison sentence .
probably a waste of money to put them in the trailer park (or they could at least just do one sign for the entire trailer park)
I think I found his picture

The Scarlet sign instead of the Scarlet letter?
Here in Alabama they flirted with the idea of putting a special tag on the car of every sex offender in the state. It didn't pass but it was discussed.
Ha and agreed
if they are going to let them out of jail, this is perhaps the next best thing.
