I just got a notice yesterday asking us to conserve energy and turn our thermostats up to 78 because the frigging wind wasn't blowing hard enough. Everybody knows it's hot as 40 hells down here and Abbott sold us out to the woke wind companies. He's been running around (oh, whoops, pardon the crass pun) trying to save his reputation and his political ass ever since February when he dropped the ball and his pants and it's likely he'll be primaried.

Exactly. Ive been digging into ERCOTS past press releases (dating back to 2000) then looking @ TX temps across years. Just curious if this is a USUAL thing or if this is weather-manipilation-TX-punishment. Will report findings if deemed worthy.

It is Symbolic in that it is not any new right, but not symbolic at all by putting D.C. on notice that the State of Texas will vigorously defend their rights under the Constitution.

The 10th Amendment covers States Rights, and limits the Federal Government from running the affiars of the individual states... something they have increasingly done for decades. (Cabal driven.)

Governor Abbott has essentially drawn a line in the Texas sand, and said NO MORE, back the hell up, and stay in your lane, D.C.

This will also, I hope, inspire other Governors to do the same - and in that sense, is much more than symbolism to me.

It shouldn't need to be done, as it's implicitly stated in the Constitution via the 10A, but that's the state of affairs in our civics-absent education system.

There's only a handful of things that are explicitly stated in the Constitution that are the responsibility of of the federal government: Article I, Sec 8

Section 8 The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

To borrow Money on the credit of the United States;

To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes;

To establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization, and uniform Laws on the subject of Bankruptcies throughout the United States;

To coin Money, regulate the Value thereof, and of foreign Coin, and fix the Standard of Weights and Measures;

To provide for the Punishment of counterfeiting the Securities and current Coin of the United States;

To establish Post Offices and post Roads;

It reminds the Feds that WE THE PEOPLE, thru our State Legislatures, are the TRUE holders of power in this country. The Fed Give exists BECUASE The People AND the 50 States allow it to exist and not the other way around, like [they] think.

Symbolic, but potentially sets the stage for real action.

Real action would require the legislature, governor, sheriff, or some other state/local government employee to stand up to federal employees who are trying to impose a specific, unconstitutional federal law or regulation.

When/if that happens, this will get VERY interesting.

Unless ... it's just a political move by a politician.

The states are individual nation states. The Constitution is a contract between the corporate government (Federal Gov) and the States/the People. It outlines 19 specific powers the Contracted (Federal) government will have.

It also outlines a bunch of things they are not allowed to do. Like infringe on gun rights. If we want the contract to be upheld, we have to put people in office who will enforce it or get out of it for breach of contract.

What was it, a month ago that Abbott was saying he'd sign the bill as soon as it crossed his desk? Maybe there's a good reason he hasn't signed it. As it stands, I don't think I'll be voting for him in the primaries next year.

I think he is on the right track, but he is over-reaching by asserting Texas sovereignty over all powers not granted to the federal government by the US Constitution.

The 10th Amendment states "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

His claim of Texas sovereignty over powers fails to exclude any claim by Texas over the many powers rightfully belonging to the people.
