Mine is turning 18. She can't jump up on counters directly but she has created a path from the chair to the garbage can to the counter. And she can't hear anything either. She has always had a loud meow but now if you startle her, dang, she YELLS. But she still has spunk. She has Personality with a capital P.
That said, I had to put her buddy down last year. He was my love bug.. Anniversary is next Wednesday. Miss him...
One of mine, a chihuahua, just turned 18 in January. Now he's exhibiting signs of a heart murmur, which is what took his half brother a couple years ago. It's always so tough to lose a member of our family, which is what our pets are
It is individual to the animal, but when they stop eating is a biggie. Mine had a melanoma in his mouth. The pain was getting so bad that he would cry and that was when we made the decision.
Ahh, that's brutal. Sorry to hear. You'll see her again at the rainbow bridge:
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Check out Hank Hanegraaff's Resurrection, chapter 13. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
Personally, There are so many mentions of animals in Scripture, that I think it's quite reasonable to expect to see them in the new Heavens and the New Earth. After all, the lions will lie down with the lambs at some time, likely both in the Thousand Year Reign and the New Heavens and Earth.
I believe this or why would the Bible speak of it.
Our Father created animals to be our companions and even let Adam name them. Our Father doesn't take away anything in the next life that he gave us in this life.
So sorry for the loss of Fiona u/Nitrojunkie7 you will be reunited again someday and sorrow will turn to joy.
When we get our puppies, we simultaneously know in our hearts that their day will most likely come much sooner than our own. But that didn't stop you, because it's always better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all. All dogs go to heaven.
"They may only be in your life for a short time, but to them, you ARE their life"
I never, ever, ever loose sight of this quote. All they want to do is be with you, be a part of your life and love you as fierce and strong as they can.
So sorry for your loss, I know the feeling. I truly believe God will let us be with our pets we held so precious in life. If we gave accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior, then our riches lie in heaven. Of course our loved pets, we will be with once again. Except she’ll be young and vigorous. She’s beautiful. And you’ll see her again friend.
What a beautiful puppers! To help ease your heart, think of her enjoying the best dog park ever. The loss of a loved one is always hard. Much love and many prayers, fren.
I know what you are going through- we recently put our boxer down at 14 years. They really are a member of the family and it is devastating when they leave us..,Sincerest sympathies to you and your family.
Praying for you now. I recently found out my cavalier has a tumor on her spleen. I know my time left with her is short. I'm having a really hard time with the thought of losing her. I believe she is a gift from God. I pray that when He takes her that He will comfort me. I pray He comforts you now and I am truly sorry for your loss.
Fiona has been returned. I pray for your sorrow as I have been mourning for my returned boy 10 years ago. She is playing with my boy now waiting for us at the rainbow bridge.
Sorry for your loss ❤️

Man, I hate this. My cat is 15, I know what's coming. Sorry for your loss.
We just lost our 18 year old kitty. Give your kitty hugs from me.
Mine is 18 and a half and still holding her own even though she can’t jump up on counters any longer and she seems to have lost her hearing.

Mines almost 17 (woah just realized that)
Her back leg hurts her from arthritis or something. She walks a lot slower than she used to. When do you know it’s time to put them down?

Never lost a pet. We’ll see how it hits me.
Pray that it doesn't come to that, and that God will take them away when the time comes.
Live life to its fullest, as always.
When they stop eating. They know when it’s time and that’s how they’ll tell you.
Ok thanks, that will be a sad day.

Awe. My cat has lost almost all her teeth. She kind of just swallows her kibble whole now. It's really sad
:(
((hugs)) My family sends all of you who have older cats and pets love, as cat lovers.
We had a few cats that lived to the 17-18 range. It's amazing how long a loved kitty will live for.

Sorry for your loss.
I am so very sorry for your loss. Sometimes I think our pups are angels here on earth, and when they pass, they're just going back home.

Sorry for your loss! The only thing I know for sure in today's world is that my dogs will protect me and my family. My heart hurts for you and yours.

We don't deserve dogs.
Not really, I think better not to know.
The world would be a cold, dark place.
So sorry for your loss. It is so hard to lose our fur babies.
God loved Fiona so much that He breathed life into her.
A candle is lit and prayers have been sent for Fiona and everyone who loved her.

My favorite dog quote is:
“The misery of keeping a dog
is his dying so soon.
But, to be sure,
if he lived for fifty years
and then died,
what would become of me?”
By Sir Walter Scott
I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my great love, Jasmine, 3 years ago. Fiona lives on, in your memory and in your heart. Prayers for you <3

I’m so sorry, they truly are family. ❤️
So sorry, very beautiful dog
One of God’s most generous gifts to us, was the humble dog.
We truly are unworthy of such a loving, loyal and faithful companion. My goal is to be the man that my dog thinks I am
What a beautiful Rotty. RiP Pupper
Pets are a Big part of our lives. We are all of their lives.
